I was actually really suprised with that, I'm running fsx at ultra high settings...with an i7 920, running at 4Ghz on air..on a P6T SE mobo...and it runs much smoother than that....ANd I just have a Galaxy 9800Gt Card...Im confused! Most people dont mention it, but FSX relies heavily on CPU, it doesnt support the dual cards from what I've heard.

Actually I think he was playing an internet game. I doubt they had a lan game going on at that demonstration. Plus the stutter looked more like internet lag than anything, certainly wasn't a performance issue on a machine like that thing.

You might be right. If it would be Lag, the character would appear in different scene. This just looked like paused, unpaused stuff and internet Lags doesnt do that. Lags moves you while you see paused picture. and when it unpauses ur somewhere else, dead or flying out of the map lol

Well I never,I 've been told. Any reason they dropped HT? I moved onto AMD chips cause of the price cuts of AM2 boards + cpu's., So core2duo has pretty much passed me by. Look like good chips though, Wish I could afford an I7 :\

OMG if i had one of those i have a freakin ACER botted with windows vista(yea go ahead and throw up) and i cant even play a simple MMO like CABAL which is only 847MB so its not like it takes up any memory and it skips,it take 4ever to load its horrible

Then it should be a 8800GX2, not a 9800GX2, my point is nVidia is releasing the same card, with a different name (9800GTX is just an overclocked 8800GTS 512Mb)

They did about the same thing with the GeForce 6 series to 7 series (not a huge improvement in performance, but a noticeable one.)

GeForce 9 series could be thought of as a prototype for experimentation of new technologies for the next new video card, if there are any.

GeForce 9 series is probably there to get 65nm yields under control.

No, the GeForce 9800GTX is a slightly overclocked 8800GTS 512Mb, which is the same core as the 8800GT, nVidia have just renamed the 8800GT/S 512Mb and said its the new Graphics Cards, thats what I'm meaning, the performance is the same, but if the rumors are true, and the new Chips (GT200) are launching in July, then the current 9 series is just here so nVidia can say "Our next gen cards are out before ATi's!"

Intel's Skulltrail Platform just shows that Intel isn't capable at the moment to make a native eight core processor. History repeats over and over again. Nehalem (45 nm)and Gesher (32 nm) will be the Intel monsters of the future not this 2 socket platform.

FPS may improve seriously with those 2 patches installed! FSX, as out-of-the-box product, is unfinished. But with those 2 patches things are VERY different!

Testing Future CPU's on current day games . . . . even current day CPU's power are far ahead of recommended game reqs. Games these days mostly suck up GPU and RAM, not so much CPU. Should have tested it with some hardcore sound generation. Thatd really show what those cores can do.

Nowadays, games are starting to be more multi-threaded friendly. UT3 and FS X can utilize 8 cores.

Crysis is supposed to, but it doesn't.

GRAW 2 does, but not very well, all cores won't go over 70% if I remember correctly.

I know this. But it doesnt change the fact that currently, having even just 2 cores running around 2.6GH, and top of the line everything else, that CPU will be efficient. CPU's arnt the main source of power for games anymore, the GPU does the vast majority. And those 2 88ultras would be whats doing 80% of the work. Hardcore sound generation eats up CPU power like nothing.

UT3 is not using 8 cores yet ... most of the games don t today, but with the evolution going this way, it is just a matter of time before the games start using n threads instead of 2 or 4.
