  • would the image from a mirror such as this be adequate for a telescope?

  • Nice work, that is sample of gods power, I'm not religious, this demo shows what separated man from animal, we can make fire! We can fly, we can breathe underwater, we can live in space, humans are gifted, what are we suppose to use our creative ability on? We have to Protect the circle of life, from the people and force who destroys life

  • are there any for sale ?!...thks and great work yall do there @ GPS !...peace

  • Dude, it's like the hammer of Dawn!

  • Good video. Question for anyone. If the light gets concentrated to the focal point does the light speed up . I am thinking it might be. Therefore we can go faster than speed of light?

Could be a Eurika moment when man discoveres the speed of light can be incresed x2,x3,x4 or what ever the paeabolic size is. Or even have two or three focal points into one bouncing of a mirror to create a ray.By passing the focal point through a polished tube would it stay as a ray?

  • @61miroman If parabolic mirrors were to key to FTL communication, it would have happened a long time ago. No. It doesn't work that way.

  • AGGGGGGGgg my eyes! Great dish.

  • dude, make some really small ones--survivalists will go nuts for them. 4" or 5" in diameter.

  • @ACIMpsychology Look around for old 2 lens movie projector tubes. You can instantly start fires in even overcast weather, by focusing on tinder or metal on top of firewood.

  • @stopglobalswarming yeah? Cool, I'll look out for 'em. thx.

  • how much does this mirror cost. What is it made out of?

  • I wanna buy one of those so I can give it to my sister and say "Try to use it to get a tan".. MwahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Becareful not to burn your eyes :)

  • Ching Chang Chong

  • of course ... its a chineese guy -.-

  • YOU COULD HAVE DAMAGED YOUR EYES BUTTHOLE FACE.

  • @fishrcoolturtles2 How could he/she have damaged his/her butt hole or face?

  • So now direct several laser rays into it and collimate the ray in da focal point of the mirror ;)

P.S. Great thing, I wish I had one too...

  • DAMN YOU, now I want one!!

  • can u get your tan on with that?

  • so that can kill a human being too???

  • can you redirect the beam?....... i'm thinking in fiber optic, can the f.b. stand the heat?

  • @supermaquina5546 Yes and no. Fiber optics don't use light like sunlight (polychromatic light). They use lasers which are generally way cooler and produce light in a different way. Lasers are monochromatic, meaning they use one wavelength. Monochromatic benefits for a data transferring application are way better due to non-competing frequencies, directionality, and are coherent. Sunlight is usable but inefficient and harder to control. Also focusing sunlight will melt f.o. cables.

  • woohoo, "death ray". You can achieve the same effect with a magnifying glass. It would be a death ray if it can kill any creatur instantly

  • I will add and say that the quality is superb. And I only watch vids in 360p. Thanks for sharing!

  • can i use this to burn the shit out of the dog of my neighbour? sry 4 bad english ;)

  • Could I use a parabolic mirror to enhance the amount of sunlight a solar panel gets?

  • @Tr3buchetK1ng No. Solar panels are actual made from plant matter. The stick in the video is wood. Wood is plant matter as well. The wood burned and so will the solar panel.

  • @LaTarasque Not all, most are using silicone based material to absorb solar energy.

  • @Tr3buchetK1ng

    Clever question!

  • where can i get one of these?

  • Hey buddy, need a light? Just lean a liiiitle closer....

  • great now the governments round the world can go starwars on each other lol

  • Am I the only one who was squinting instinctively when he filmed the suns reflection?

  • Put a prism in the sweet spot and the beam would be refracted through the prism, no?

  • can you make a reflector telescope out of that? because that would make an amazingly awesome telescope; 46" aperture and 9" focal length, holy shit!

  • Pause it at 0:50 and you can see a ufo on his right

  • You would never need matches ever again! lol

  • Does my bum look big in this?

  • Watch your hand xD

  • buy a solar cooker, much cheaper

  • It't too bad the focal point is fixed so you can only focus it a certain distance away. What you should do is put something at the focus point that refracts the radiation so that it goes straight.

  • @Raleigh3000 A flat mirror will do that for you but you don't get the effect of concentrating the energy to a small spot. If you were to put a mirror at the focal point the energy would reflect but spread out again-- not stay at a point.

  • fukin asian

  • amazing! cant wait to see more :)

  • UFO Alert... I have seen so many UFOs over the years that I can spot them easily. Look at 45 seconds in pause this video. There appears to be a UFO just to the right of the bright light in the cloud. It comes in at 44 seconds in and you see it move from right to left just to the right of the light in cloud. This could be a lens flare but I know these guys (ETs) like to crash videos when people are filming.

  • very nice vid, and great camera...

  • Sun bed business opportunity

  • Bacon?

  • nice

  • now thats a fast way to tan!

  • I don't think a 7mm "ray" has much use. Can't even fry ants. Add some optics for directing, focusing and you'll have a death ray.

  • I double dog dare you to stick your hand in there instead of a stick!

  • whats goin on

  • let it burn fire OMG AHHHH BOY: im on fire BOY #2: haha Boy #8735493763576:(get kick in the balls) Girl:(see all the boys) BOY #19: GET HER!!!!!!! THE BOYS GET HER AND TURN HER INTO A BOY :)

  • @Phong2290 are you having a stroke

  • Now that youv'e found the depth of the focus set up magnifiers lens to further intensify focus and a second to compress sharpen to a really tight single beam and BE careful! WAAhhahaahahaahahaa!

  • sounds like super mario 64 outside of castle

  • @manadio Great game...

  • Your mom called...she wants her good salad bowl back!!!..

  • Someone asked the question earlier..what camera did you use to film this? really great quality!!

  • @jmj8309185096085 Hi, This was shot with a EXILIM Pro EX-F1. This camera does slow motion too. I bought it new for $800 in 2008. NOW the same camera is $2700 no explanation from the company?

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE I couldn't care less about the camera, where can I get a parabolic mirror like that from?

  • @BoltOfThundor NVM, I found the link to it...

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE Hey actually this model is long discontinued....however some re-sellers are selling this as they appear still have it in the stock... the fact is casio has nothing to do with it... casio has replaced this model with new ZR100 that also does same high speed recording but its smaller in size that its predecessor ... otherwise have all same and better functions and higher resolution. This info comes from person who works at casio. Don't let yourself rip -off buy zr100

  • which is the model of your camera, has excellent quality

  • @betorero564 @jmj8309185096085 Hi, This was shot with a EXILIM Pro EX-F1. This camera does slow motion too. I bought it new for $800 in 2008. NOW the same camera is $2700 no explanation from the company?

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE this is how olympic flame is lighted!:)

  • それから?なんなの?

  • @boqetube WHO DA FUK ARE YOU, And sir what are you saying???

  • GET YO FACE IN THERE

  • Hey kids if you wanna have some fun, make a cone out of tinfoil, make a hole for your finger in the bottom, stick your finger in there and point at the sun :D

  • that was amazing dude, you need to like put it on a skateboard and fight the man.

  • @AlpineRoute were you high when you wrote that?

  • the greeks deit furst

  • ... not entirely sure how 78 people can dislike a concave mirror...

  • how can I get one of this?

  • fill a condom with water = fire. MAGIC

  • Got Bowl cut

  • Hurray for trigonometry.

  • So you're using one of those shitty cameras which record the wind as thunder.

  • @ManasturNights so you're using one of those shitty ways of life where you have too be a twat?

  • Fire up some hot dogs.

  • O_o ....its soo.........shiiiiiinnnyyyy.

  • I don't understand what this is used for? Starting fires?

  • id love to bey in that

  • you know what??? it's really nice fisheye :DD

  • Hi, where could I get or buy a mirror like this ? do you know the process to make some mirror like this ? I am from Mexico. Thanks.

  • what is this used for?

  • how much for one?

  • Cool its cool for the school xd

    to fire the school

i hate school but i cool xd

  • Archamedes Solar Cel Technology: a fire proof solar cell, you can raise and lower the cell into the focal target of the parabolic mirror, increasing and decreasing the output of electrons.

  • Go shit in the woods. If it is to talk shit, shut up in their arrogance.

  • What does it do or what is it used for?

  • @Rayden440 hi ray you point where you whan and have a lot of heat, point it at an old cast iron radiator!! hot water!! wood /fire and so on free heat lol chris.

  • that is the coolest salad bowl I ever saw!

  • what happens if you point this at your cat

  • @Gogsmash scrape of the hair before you eat the crispy skin lol

  • What exactly does this mirror do?

  • and what is the purpose of this

  • now what on god's earth would you need a mirror like that for!?!?!

  • How big would it have to be to melt moon rock? I figured the easiest way to build a moon base would be to just melt moon rock and mold the magma into shapes.

  • This is where the power is hiding

  • How many stupid comments! I imagine to be coming from Americans. They act as if they were the rulers of the planet. Arrogant and overbearing.

  • @mateuserdmann Why would you assume that? The thing that's wrong with europeans and asians is that they all prematurely judge all americans of being idiots. Therefore europeans and asians are at least as arrogant as americans. I'm swedish btw, and thanks for the upload.

  • Can I bring down one of those chemtrail jetplanes with one?

They must cost too much to buy, right?

  • I want one!

  • put your face over it lol :P

  • Holy crap that's insane.

  • ultimate ghetto wheels

  • Medusa is fucked...

  • I want one! i can Cook My ramen noodle soup faster :D

  • HEY DUDE YOUR CAMERA IS MELTING!!!

  • thx,GREECE.

  • I'll make sure to bring one of these along if I ever strand on an island.

  • thats a grat thing for solar panals i guess

  • bullshit!

  • sweet next time i will take this parabolic lens with me when i travel just in case i need to make a fire.. ANYONE GOT A GIANT SUITCASE?

  • that was really cool

  • Burn ant?

  • This is greatly interesting, but with out knowing where to get one, or how to make one, makes this rather frustrating. Where do you get them? or How do you make them?

To the guy who asked what would use them for other than burning wood, try heating water with it, that's what i would use it for.

Could any one tell us if this miror could be used to magnify sunlight on to a solar panel?

  • how do you make them dude?

  • where can i buy one of these mirrors?

  • why you use a tree why not your hand ^^

  • whenever they say "please rate this video" what if in the word rate you change the t into p

  • Just another way to burn down my neighbors house. THANK YOU!

  • nice for camping

  • heavy

  • ok ,so these can burn. How are you going to use this to do something? I see a lot of these parabolic mirrors burning stuff but none that are actually being productive

  • @sc2dave I had a miniature one that was a cigarette lighter.....

  • Of course it's an asian man.

  • O~o ... confusing...

  • what are these for?

  • stop asking for rateings. you piss ppl off when you do

  • scheiss asiaten

  • get the marshmallows out

  • Cool Vid, I think that this should be implemented as a power source for generating electricity.

Why the hell do people still use imperial measurements, are you like 200 years old. Imperials is so stupid. "I know lets measure this by the size of my foot or the distance of my stride".

USE METRIC AS THE REST OF THE F*****G WORLD DOES!!!

Sorry to complain on your vid, but it is has to be said

  • cool were can you buy them? its always nice to see different types of heat. can you run a copper line across it with a small pump to heat water? Thanks for the interesting videos..

    Larry

  • you say on may of you video you show how to make this parabolic lens how do you mirroe it? or polish it?

  • This was professionally metalized.

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE what metal? and was it chemical or vapor deposition?

  • Before I set one of these up in my yard its not going to blind pilots or catch birds on fire is it?

  • Only if they fly seven inches above the base of the dish. Parabolic mirrors are actually totally non visible in regards to reflection past about 30 feet because the light crosses at the focal point, in this case 7" and spreads to infinity. That is why SOS kits use a FLAT mirror for signaling vs a parabolic. If you were in a plane flying over a regular glass window would appear reflective, this would look like a circle. Bird would have to be very small and hover for 2 sec in just the right spot

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE you cloud blind pilots and burn birds if you put lenses on the focal point

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE

can you make one that will catch birds on fire??

    how much would it cost?

  • @SwindleFlu it would reflect less light at distances than a simple mirror facing the sky. The focal point is so close to the dish, that if you go beyond that distance the light has virtually no effect.

The only time it might be an issue is if a bird flies directly into the focal point, or half a meter or so behind the focal point. Any further away and the light starts to have less of an effect than a normal mirror, as it's concentrating effect turns into a scattering effect.

  • @SwindleFlu it only depends where the focal center is. If you make a mirror with a lower curvature, it will have the focal point further but if u use the same diameter, it will be less powerful.

  • @SwindleFlu ...did it...?

  • I had a 6 foot parabolic mirror used to heat water. It was my neighbors who was all about solar, he kept it in my garage. I put a potato in the center of it, and it immediately caught fire! It was very dirty as well when I tried it, and still was ridiculously powerful.

  • FL is better to fry fish in an iron skillet

  • Hmm! 2700 Degrees? Are you going to use this with the stirling engine your building? If so do you have the instructions on converting the engine written down? I would be very interested in creating electricity with this type of sysetem!

  • Casio EX-F1 kamera ?

  • does aluminum foil work or it has to be shiny and smooth

  • If you can get foil placed with no crinkles it will work, sort of.

  • Dan,

Big fan of your work. Starting to replicate some of the experiments you've done with Fresnel Lens.

I could be wrong, but it seems like the parabolic mirrors might be better for safety reasons than the Fresnel lenses.

Focal point of mirror points upward into the sky seem less likely to destroy life or property.

    Which do you prefer?

    Keep up the good work!

  • i wanna know how to make that big thing DIY

  • my only problem with these used as ovens - how easy is it to clean them? when you cook they will get dirty very soon.

  • I don't believe you actually cook IN them. You just use them to focust the sun's energy and do the cooking in a separate place. But I could be wrong. It just makes sense that as soon as the mirror started getting dirty, you would lose a large amount of efficiency.

  • yes ofc but when you cook meat, eggs, etc., there would be a lot of mess coming out of the pan. (grease, for instance)

  • How reflective is the surface in the IR range? There's a lot of radiation that passes through the atmosphere that is sub-visible, and if you're lucky, you might be able to use that as well (it could possibly almost double the output if what you're using is poorly IR-reflective right now)

  • if the sun doesn´t shine you can also use this as a giant WOK! lol

  • Would it be possible to construct a small, backyard version of a solar tower with enough of these? Big enough to power an entire home?

  • Yes, you would need cool neighbors or live in a rural area.

    Check this out:

    watch?v=1RNNlYiKxlc

  • Good Job Dan

  • fire*

  • ancient greeks were using this method to put fore on torches!

  • very cool !

you can use it with Stirling motors...

    best regards

  • Forget fresnel lenses, reflectors are way more efficient and durable than fresnel lenses...

    Go green power!

  • How do you get one?

  • Click the link in the more info area.

  • 94%!!!

  • you show us these things. how some use full projects with the things like making refrigeration. with the lens or the prabolic mirrors. or just thing usefull. thanks.
