@maccatori Promotional purposes for the re-release,the done thing at the time was to promote a clear image of a band, the record industry with it's expensive record covers, fly posters, point of sale displays for record shops couldn't afford for there to be any confusion who people were listening to, this was still the era of the lead singer being the face of a band. Moira Lambert was a one off, Sarah Cracknell became the face of the band. Ergo, you remake a new video for a re-released single.
I used to listen to all St. Etiennes stuff back in the day fox base alpha was the cleanest breath of air i ever had. But is that craknell on vocals there? i dont think so, listn to the album version of hobart paving, thats craknell at her best, all ways will be. Not sure if thats a young sarah or weather it was a backing vocalist. Cant Sleep was also a nice dub with the female vocals though, dont let your mates know you listening to it though hmmm it pretty damn weak for a man.
I like this video better than the other. It has that murky late eighties, early nineties feel to it, and therefore goes better with the song. She sings like a beautiful lost cosmonaut.
I remember I purchased the album Foxbase Alpha 1990 only because of the wonderful cover. I didn't have a clue about the music. And what a buy. The best album I have ever owned.
the girl in the black and white version mimed the song and is called lucy, apparently moira didnt want to appear in the video because it had an early 90s funky feel to it and she was more an indie chic type so lucy stood in and mimed for her as lucy had links with stanley and wiggs due to being in another one of there early 90s projects..
this pisses on the Neil Young original
but everybody should hear "old man" live 71
great

Bloody cheeky remake with the singer who came after her. This video is great & very of the time. Why bother remaking it?

hi rupert, i can answer your question :)
the girl in the black and white version mimed the song and is called lucy, apparently moira didnt want to appear in the video because it had an early 90s funky feel to it and she was more an indie chic type so lucy stood in and mimed for her as lucy had links with stanley and wiggs due to being in another one of there early 90s projects..
so there ya go.. and thats a fact dude :)

If Wiggs and Stanley had any sense they'd have tried to get in her knickers, i know i would:;P
