Damn, this song is way more in line with their first album and I really like it. Their 2nd album was such a massive disappointment on so many levels, despite a few solid tracks. Here's hoping the rest of the album lives up to this one.

The melody, the solo, the techincally, and the br00t :) Also, the album was entirely too long. Could have cut 15 minutes off it and had a much tighter, concise, better album in my opinion. I think that stemmed from it being self-produced.

I agree with Arkaea. you guys should aim for that incredibly powerful and full sound in UR. The vocals should be all out and production should be maximized (fuck raw, although admirable, it's stupid for an album. save that shit for live). Guitars should be layered, loud, and sound full with good tone. the drums should also be loud as fuck to make sure you have the heaviest sounding album that you can get out. Vigilance could have been produced better, just saying. PLEASE GET GREAT PRODUCTION!

On a more promising note, the change to 7s could be interesting and I wish you guys the very best with your third album. The European Tour art could even be re-used as the next album cover art (or slightly modified with some new aspects), because it looks stunning.

@ARKAEA33 I like your enthusiasm for the band, but I highly doubt they are going to even read your comments let alone take them in to account. I think the reason why Under Reprisal sounded so good is because it was produced by Christian Olde Wolbers of Fear Factory. While Vigilance was produced by singer Jon Howard (and the rest of the band) and mixed by someone else. If you've heard Fear Factory you know that their albums are very well produced. They should get Wolbers to produce the new album.

I don't know if John was trying to do the vocals in too short of a time period on the last album (thus hurting his voice), or if he was sick, or worn out from previous touring, or whatever. Point is, UR vocals were FEROCIOUS, Vigilance's sounded like somebody turned his volume down and stripped the bass from his voice. This could maybe be chalked up to production values (if you need help, don't try to DIY). However, it also seems like he tried to harshly sing lots of verses rather than yell.

That being said, I hope you guys put a lot of effort into making more memorable riffs this time out, as well as some more iconic solos or intro/outro passages. Drummer is looking solid here. Pat I can rarely hear, but I never really could. My BIGGEST concern of all, however, lies with the vocals. UR was amazing vocally. Simply phenomenal. Vigilance, on the other hand, was severely lacking. Screams lacked punch, yells devoid of bass, cleans scratchy. CONT

Alright, this is coming from a true fan, so please don't take this as "hating" or anything of that nature... it's simply constructive criticism coming from a concerned fan. I have seen both Travis and Chris play, and play they can. However, comparing Vigilance to UR, a void can be seen in the songwriting due to the absence of Kyle. There was good material, but nothing quite like Counterbalance's solo (or AID's), the ending of Inane, the ANB intro/outro, or the ferocity of Rational Eyes. CONT
