  • I apologize if this has been asked already, but how many octaves are needed on the marimba?

  • @Restrain654 4.3 octave marimba. This video is of an older score not available any longer. The latest version has a 4.3 octave marimba.

  • I love this! my percussion class is playing this!

  • @jsychoe Great! I hope you do well! Make sure to get a youtube video up for me to see! ;)

  • Peel, can you comment with a parts list?

  • @1020avatar There is instrumentation in the description. And, 10 players.

  • someone get this man a gawtdang home studio and logic Pro!

  • @TheBackbeat2 :) I'm getting Cubase soon but I'll take the studio!!

  • I really enjoyed the way the piece evolved toward the end.

  • @chuckfrasher Thank you for your comments! The flow is a bit unusual, but I'm glad you like it. Don't forget to download the mp3 from the link in the description!

  • I absolutely loved it! And I enjoyed watching the score. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank god i listened to this before i go to sleep, now i feel safe :). Again another wonderful score!

  • amazing work!!

  • @PaulAJCMoreau Thank you!

  • How much for the scores???

  • @6464641 $30. Message me with your email and I can give you purchasing info if you're interested. Thanks.

  • Whoa just blown away by this way to go

  • Our percussion chamber's taking this to Solo and Ensemble. Wish us luck! (:

  • Wow.mind is blown. One of my favorite ensemble pieces definitely!

  • If you were a moose I would kiss you.

  • 3 people couldn't get out!

  • sure, sibelius sounds perfect and has much more features, but finale is just so much easier to use.

  • @RandomLoser21,

Actually all virtual instruments can be used in both programs, so they pretty much "sound" the same. And both programs have many features, but I would say one can manipulate the score in Finale in more ways than in Sibelius. It's really all about what you need, and I don't need the extra perfectionist tools Finale has. And I would say Sibelius is about 5 times easier to use than Finale, but it's really all about preference.

  • Hello Mr Eric C - you are a true musician - you will have a great career in front of you, you music really really tuches me - this in so fantastic - thank you thank you so so much!!!!! - sorry for my english

    Best

    Søren

    - Denmark

  • this song is sick. I'm doing this with my perc. ensamble

  • beautiful i love it like always keep it up!!!!!!!

  • Ur work is wonderful . . . your the third reason iM In the Drumline. . Thank U Sir

  • You should SERIOUSLY consider writing for a drum corps. I am a member of Thunder Drum and Bugle Corps. Go to SpokaneThunder . horg (without the h) and contact the director, please! You write amazing stuff!

  • damnnnnn nice!

  • sigh... i wish my percussion could play this.. except i'm the only one fluent in the way's of note reading....This is truly amazing!

  • Wow this is probably one of the best ensembles I've ever heard.

    This is awesome dude!

  • Very very nicely done! Playback sounds fantastic because of Virtual Drumline. I have the "Sound Essentials", which I think includes Virtual Drumline.... do you have particular options set on your instruments (i.e. reverb on some, particular sounds set for each instrument, etc.)?

  • Everything you make is amazing. I listen to your music on the bus on the way to school! This is one of my favorite, but I actually prefer this video over the MP3 version. I'm a percussionist in high school and I enjoy writing cadences. I'm broke, so I use MuseScore and a marching percussion Soundfont someone made (FREE :D). I would love to have our percussion ensemble play this in winter, but I'll have to talk with our instructor... I'll get back to you on that. x] Thanks for being so AWESOME.

  • send me an email, i am considering buying for my high school percussion ensemble

  • Nice ...

  • the beginning is fucking amazing

  • I want a copy of this piece..

    Can you send me?

  • what did u use to compose this concert rhythm percussion? were did u get this?? please reply

  • @RickyImpression

Learn how to read YouTube video descriptions, please.

  • @reeldeelpeel im talkin about any websites to be able to compose your own song

  • Phenomenal composition!

  • You're pretty prolific for a high school kid.

  • Who would dislike this i mean really

  • can i get sheet music pleez

  • @gagewanabesectionL,

Please message me your email and I'll give you purchasing information.

  • We're doing this for a percussion ensemble contest, and as a bunch of high school upperclassmen, consider this piece almost impossible to play. Congratulations!

  • @RyanTheIncredible882

Uh, if you meant that as a negative remark, go check out the several video recordings on youtube! But if you really meant to congratulate me, thanks!

  • @reeldeelpeel I meant it in a positive light. It really is a good job, you have talent! What'd you make this with?

  • @RyanTheIncredible882

Thanks. You can see what programs I use by reading the video description.

  • @reeldeelpeel yeah this is deffinently an aazing piece and the tenor part seems like a lot of fun =D also the way you mixed the different tones of bells more towards the end was astounding. amazing piece good sir =D

  • @RyanTheIncredible882 Honestly, this piece isn't all that hard.

  • You think 7th and 8th graders can do this?

  • @xXEpicPandaXx

It depends on what the talent level is like at the school, but if it's a big school and there's a decent pool of musicians to take talent from, then yes, definitely possible for junior high students to play this.

  • @reeldeelpeel Its Not a Big School but we are on of the best bands in Middle School in Texas we are just a small school

  • I agree with beemer.

When I start to teach, if I have a winter drumline (a good one) I will surely want to use this.

  • Your music is freaking amazing. Could totally be a bad ass winterline show

  • pretty amazing. do you just do percussion? i've done a good bit of composing for band and orchestra but i would like to get a little bit in percussion. but i'm only 15

  • @meis2steph11

I write primarily percussion, yes. I've only done a couple pieces where I use a different instrument group than percussion.

Why do all 15 year-olds on youtube seem to need to state their age in their comments? lol

  • Hey I have Sibelius and I want to try writing some percussion music. What are all of the instruments that you use?

  • @cheezer20004

You're referring to a term called "instrumentation". Read the description of the video.

  • From what I can tell (and I could very well be wrong), it seems as though 5 timpani are required for this piece, or am I mistaken? My school's percussion ensemble intends on playing this piece however we only have 4 timpani available.

  • @StonewallElwood

This version is going on 3 years old, I've of coursed revised this piece several times since uploading it to youtube. The most recent revision only requires 4 timpani. Download it from the link in the description and give it a listen for yourself.

  • @reeldeelpeel

My apologies, I wasn't aware there was a revised version since this one. I have downloaded the new version and I must say I like the changes. I'm looking forward to performing this one with the rest of my fellow percussionists and I must give credit to you for writing such a wonderful percussion piece.

  • its funny, i always read the video description right as that erie groove at :57 kicks in

  • how much?

  • @vaatissoul898

$20. Message/email me if you're interested in purchasing a copy!

  • Are all of these sounds virtual drumline sounds?

  • @FCO0710

    Yep.

  • @reeldeelpeel What program do you use?

  • @godzillafireman

Read my video descriptions before asking me questions.

  • Fantastic writing! i hope to purchase this soon!

  • @MstryMn85

Thanks so much! Just let me know. And please listen to the mp3 (you can download it for free with the link in the description), as I have fixed up many things in the piece since this upload.

  • You're truly brilliant. I mean, every piece you compose is legit. Much respect for you, keep it coming!

  • @Evzfire13

Wow, thanks so much! I should be posting more new pieces before the winter holidays.

  • Basic. Repetitive. Shit. Gayness.

  • @CBALLZ666

Think about what you're doing, and just stop doing it.

  • @reeldeelpeel just like in any regular music video, your gunna have the occasional troll, i love your works, so i would just advise to delete and ignore

  • @Texasdrum

Oh, I know, trust me, and I usually do just delete them. He went on a trolling spree and comment on like 10 videos, mine and some others' in a row. I gave him a little speech in one of my other videos. Hopefully it will stop, but I doubt it.

It's just really sad and disappointing that we have behavior like that even in our little percussion community, which you think would be small enough not to have anyone like that.

  • @CBALLZ666 @reeldeelpeel Says the guy who is obsessed with bigfoot and skunk apes. Maybe you have a nightmare to escape from, and then you wouldn't be so cold.

Anyways, this was fantastic work! It really did remind me of my nightmares, myself-- I have some pretty insane ones. Definitely a favorite! :)

  • @WolfInTime

Thanks for the defense, and I'm glad you like the piece! :)

  • we should do this for my high school esemble but the percusion is splitted into two groups

  • @rikuantu

    Combine forces!

  • hello, I'm a music teacher...please I need some percussion ensemble music sheets for children if you do have some...this is my email address : rabii_merouane@hotmail.com

    Thank you very much

  • I am interested in purchasing this piece. Please advise....

  • is there any way i can get an mp3 of this?

  • @x360aNiCk,

Yeah, there are lots of ways. But if you send me a message with your email, I'll send the mp3 to you.

  • Hey i'm percussian section leader in a high school and I'm seriously interested in buying this piece how much does it cost?

  • @GlynStlln,

$20. And that includes the score, all 10 parts, and an mp3.

  • If this is your first piece....wow! This is just amazing. Do you think I could get the audio to this? I love listening to it, but I hate that I have to come on youtube everytime.

  • @lilmcsweeney,

This isn't my first piece, but it is my first ensemble with concert rhythm percussion. Thanks for your compliments! If you send me a message with your email, I'd love to let you have the mp3 for the piece.

  • Very nice!!

  • nice job, great energy and momentum. like the meter changes, even if they arent tempo changes.

  • hey I would like to her the Mp3 file its really good man my e-mail is

  • How much would you like for this piece?

  • @Br0k3M3xican,

I'm selling copies of the score, parts, and mp3 for $20. The version I'm selling is somewhat different though, you can see a live performance of it in the video responses. If you want me to email you an mp3 so you can hear the changes, message me your email.

  • @reeldeelpeel what is the instrument called in the 9th row???

  • @TySpot1000,

Does it really matter? Just listen to the piece!

  • @TySpot1000 Chimes.

  • @TySpot1000

    tubular bells

  • @TySpot1000 im pretty sure that's a timpani

  • @TySpot1000 It's chimes.

  • Ahhhh :D i love this. so. much.

  • Sick. Just Absoluetly awesome

  • @jedica1,

Thanks, I really appreciate it :)

  • sick groove

  • @mdrummershea,

    Thanks :)

  • gosh that mallet part is insane

  • @jakubrox19,

It's a lot of notes, but it's not too bad. A lot of the weird patterns and sticking problems were fixed in the latest version.

  • so where could i get an mp3 copy?

  • @halo2kill,

Just message me your email address.

  • This is freaking AWESOME! And for the record, your percussionists did an excellent job! Kudos!!

  • @Jetli390,

    Thanks a lot!

  • I like this! I think it jams not sure if i would call it nightmare... is this an arrangment or did you compose this???

  • @TGS265,

Check out the video responses, and with the new ending, the title makes more sense.

And yes, it's a composition of mine.

    Thanks for liking it :)

  • Can you send me a score or just the marimba part please, I'd leike to show my perc. teacher at school this piece. Thanks

  • @halo2kill,

I can let you have mp3s, but scores or parts I charge for.

    I sent you a message.

  • omg i love this soooo much i want one!

  • @atup93,

    I sent you a message.

  • You should publish it, if you haven't already. It sounds awesome, I'd like to hear real people play it.

  • @Psychokinesismaniac,

Check out the video responses :)

  • ... pardon my curiosity... I failed to read the description prior to posting my last comment. Great Work! I am Most definitely a Fan

  • @TheSpecialProduct,

It's all good, thanks for you catching yourself, haha. A appreciate your compliments.

    And Merry Christmas.

  • I truly admire the divinity of each of your personal compositions and your attention to detail. It truly allows each musician performing to become laced within the emotions in which you portray in a literary sense.

Out of curiosity: Do you compose using Virtual Drumline?

  • @TheSpecialProduct,

    Thanks so much!

  • Fantastic as usual I, certainly like your works.

  • Oh and I sent you a message as well.

  • may i buy this one?

  • @kay8422,

    I sent you a message.

  • Im a senior xylo girl in high school and I absolutely LOVED your pieces!! All of them. they'd be hard for us to play though lol. Nice work ~_~

  • @Pur3lySw33t,

Thanks, I'm glad you like 'em.

  • whoa, i just listened to a few of your pieces and i have to say that you are very very good. stick with this stuff because this is absolutely awesome. i enjoy just listening to it a few times. :)

  • @craziallen911,

Thanks so much for the encouragement :) I'm glad you enjoy my music.

  • Actually i was expecting to hear something very weird but the drums you chose are great and the melodies are perfect for the theme... some bits remind me a bit of jordan rudess style. Congratulations!

  • @Hayacafrita,

I haven't heard of Jordan Rudess, but thanks ;)

  • Jordan is the keyboard player of Dream Theater, but it's his solo work what seemed similar to me. Check out Time Crunch. That melody part you wrote at 2 min on has a bit of that feeling. However the music is entirely different.

  • @Hayacafrita,

I checked it out. I think it might be the odd time signatures and the syncopation. Thanks for that, it was interesting.

  • anyway i can buy sheet music for your peices?

  • @colbyman12,

    I sent you a message.

  • I really like it, very nice work. Would be fun to play and fun for the average audience member. Well done. I actually felt the dynamics were well placed for this piece. Fun Xylo piece and nice countering with the chimes/bells.

  • @allgames7,

    Thank you so much!

  • wat do u use to record,

ps. can u check out my perucssion ensemble and tell me wat u think

look at, the second generation especially

  • @terrypercussion24,

    1.) Camstudio

2.) I listened to several of your pieces. One thing I would add is more dynamics and articulations. Put some accents on the concert snare parts for example.

  • i just learned how to do it when i wrote the pice :the second generation

    any tips for that one

    thanx

  • @terrypercussion24, Personally, just structure seems to be an issue with your pieces. If you had better sound sampling, I think it would be easier to understand some things that go on.

  • wat do u mean by structure

    i just wanna get better,

  • @terrypercussion24,

I guess I mean, it's difficult to categorize what's going on musically, if that makes sense. Basically, to me, it sounds very random, and unclear. Although, I can hear and enjoy bits and pieces that definitely portray some emotion.

I don't want you to change the way your pieces are, I'm just telling you how I personally feel about your music. I'm not a very good helper when it comes to composing because I really don't fully understand how I do it myself, lol.

  • u are soo arrogant

  • @terrypercussion24,

Whatever. You asked me to help you, I tried my best. If you want to take offence to my advice, that's your choice.

I'm not the best musician in the world, but you did choose to ask me to help you, so I really do not appreciate that you called me arrogant.

  • sorry for that, thats wat my freind thought of you

he thinks my pieces are really good

    i dont think so

i see how they have flaws

but wat do u mean by random

  • @terrypercussion24,

The structure of it is very random, like not based on any format I've ever heard. The themes don't complement each other very well. I don't know how to explain it.

You should work on making your pieces more playable, like the mute/sustain on the vibes parts does not make any sense at all. There's also no way a human can play a complicated accent/16th note pattern on triangle.

I guess I'm looking at your pieces from more of a performance standpoint.

  • Sorry to bother you sir, but I need some help and you seem to be a musical genius and Sibelius genius at that! I was wondering how I make cymbal notes with the drumset option. It may not help that I'm 15

Once again sorry to bother you,

    Colin

  • @Blubber120, Chances are, use notehead #1 on line F or the G above that. It depends highly on what your playback situation is, and which cymbal/hi-hat technique you want to sound.

  • Thank you very much sir

  • I swear, everything that I've listened to by you, I put it under my favorites section on here. lol :)

  • Well thanks! That really helps it spread around so others can see, it helps a lot. Keep hanging in there for my new pieces coming soon ;)

  • I definately will :)

  • How many different parts are in this piece?

  • 10 parts

  • is it still $20?i want my school to do this song its so cool!

  • Yep, 20 bucks. Email about this when you get the chance. I'll send you a message with my email.

  • I love the groove section at 0:58!

  • hey its me again lol our precussion ensemble got the gold at WGI ur ensemble should enter it playing stuff like this would be awesome to hear there anyway here is our show type this in the search thingy "Carmen" as performed by the MSHS Percussion Ensemble i wish i could play stuff like what you compose T.T it would be awesome xD

  • this is pretty nice. is it meant as an indoor show or just a concert ensemble piece?

  • Thanks. There's no battery, it's just a concert percussion ensemble.

  • damn very sick! i watch all your vids and and and i'll subscribe and rate 5 stars! i arrange some perc. enssemble but i'm not as good as you! any free lessons for me? hahaha

  • so how would we do this if i bought this score from you?

  • where can i buy this at?????

  • You can purchase it unpublished directly from me. For now, I'm doing business through the post and email, so please email me if you would life to exchange information about purchasing the piece. :) My email is mentioned on my channel profile page, in the channel section.

  • is there any way you would give this music so we can play at my school? this is freaking insane, haha

  • Thanks. I'm selling the score for $20.

  • holy crap! that was awesome. Did you get a group to play that?

  • These sounds are only from VDL. I taught a watered-down version of this piece to a high school and they made state. :)

  • SICK!!!

    genius at sibelius
