I believe the kanji that you're talking about is the swastika, which isn't really a kanji. I believe if it's facing to the right, it represents a Bhuddist temple and if it's facing on the left it's the Nazi symbol. Maybe it's the other way around, who knows?

When growing up as a christian kid, I had a best friend who I got into Pokemon, my Yellow and Red versions. He liked it alot, but I got it in such big trouble from his parents when they found out they said I wasn't allowed over anymore, same thing with another christian friend, my collection of pokemon cards was banned from most of my friends' houses.
