I think EA tried in this game to shrink the players and in doing so enhance the graphics and the player models. I think they failed by doing so. Then after NBA Live 09 Wii failed so bad they abandoned the system completly. Thankfully 2K rescued us with back to back great games in 10 and 11.

I love when Collins says "That's a smart foul..." when the Celts player is fouled while shooting a 3 pointer... this game is fun to play, believe it or not... the controls are not tight in the least but blocking a shot and hearing the "block" sound from your Wiimote is music to my ears...

Not the worst basketball game ever. Are you 5 years old? What about half of the NBA Live series for Sega Genesis (started great but never improved), all those ESPN NBA games for any platform or NBA Inside Drive or Tecmo Basketball or Harlem Globetrotters basketball for the NES... yes, I'm 42, but I've seen a lot of crappy sports sims... The thing I like about this one is that you block a shot and "hear" the block from your Wiimote... I kind of feel that way about this post...

Sorry to call you 5 years old. I just was making a point about the list of REALLY BAD basketball carts that have come out in the past 10+ years. Anyway, I agree that the controls can be frustrating. However, based on my limited online play, I find that both teams struggle with these controls (i.e. a level playing field). I also find that I can still get my butt whipped by some excellent defensive players that steal and block shots. Hopefully, by next year, they'll have worked out the bugs.

I like the Wii very much, and I'm also a basketball fan, but when I played NBA Live 08, It was like the worst game I ever played! (Not basketball game, game in general!). The controls SUCK, the graphics are horrible (there wasn't even widescreen support), there are alot of missing features and there is also alot of bugs and balancing issues.

PLEASE EA, make a NBA Live 09 and take it seriously this time!

Note: I wouldn't mind if 2K Sports tried to make a good NBA game.

The controls are different. They take time to get used to but the gameplay is unique to the Wii. It's not your "sit on you ass and push buttons" traditional game. Not as precise as the PS3 or Xbox 360 but gameplay is a blast. Love blocking shots: That "block" sound from your Wiimote speaker is awesome...
