  • How much did you pay? I just came into possession of one from a local venue for a killer performance, but I know shit all about it...

  • I have had Z custom cymbals, they are not good. Get some K's if you're looking for a deep sound.

  • Did you say this cymbal has a Gandhi sound lmao

  • Z Customs make me wanna vomit. They're worse than ZBT's

  • Nah, looks like it won't eve crack easily using a sledgehammer... If you want a realy good musical and versatile ride with still a little stick defenition, then you should go for the 20 k custom ride. It's got some nice dark overtones...XD

  • 20 inch ziljian z custom power ride = heavy? just try the sabian 22 inch paragon and tell that z custom is heavy

  • Do you still have this thing?? It is gorgeous... I've been looking around for one that isn't cracked to pieces for so long. And I just love that Z-custom sound. To me, it's heavier and more cutting than the Z3s

  • This or the Zildjian Z3 Rock Ride? For stuff like green day, blink-182, Hedley and gob.

  • Its too gong-ish.

  • I have one of these and it is truly a power ride. I love it though. It does weigh a ton and its a pain to carry without a case. I makes a great sound though.

  • I am buying one of these.

  • @iTriedVoodooOnce

    Good luck they're discontinued.

Find a good used one if you can.

  • From what it sounds like I don't like it. Rings wayy too much A CUSTOM!!!

  • it pings really well. but wudnt advise crashing it.... ive swapped mine for a sweet ride, way more crashable.

  • Oh,thats bad...

  • I just got mine and cant wait to get home and hit it.

  • the reason ur stand tips over is cos u havent put 1 of the legs under the arm to balance it do that next time

  • geez you camera makes it sound bad!! Lol

  • from what i have found on this line of cymbals, they are designed for drummers who hit harder, now i don't mean take a bat to them, but can with stand a lot of abuse from driving music

  • ti have that one too, it sounds better in real life

  • I had the 24" version and that was really heavy, weighed 1 stone, WOW!!!!!! Then the stand to hold it was big too. Who needs a gymn when you use this gear lol. One pure bread rock cymbal. Enjoy it.

  • Z customs are SOOOO damn heavy and you can really hear it in the cymbal. That cymbal doesn't have to much wash/undertone to it...just really tinny. A customs seem a bit more versatile.

  • sounds terrible lol go with A customs bro

  • Z's all the way. But I have to agree it doesn't sound too good.

  • its the camera bro

  • Clank Clank Clank.

  • Meh.... I don't like the way it sounds but it's still a good cymbal. Nice

  • a custom sweet ride?

  • i own it best ride ever

  • thnk you for your feedback drumessiah....

you know im just sad either way because theyre replacing these with more expensive cymbals , although Z3's sound a bit better crash wise

  • Morgan Rose the drummer from Sevendust, he use Zildjian Z Custom line cymbals.

  • Bullshit Z 's kick the shit outta any think Paiste or Sabian make especially for metal or more aggresive music. And the only good thing about twisted sister was the fact the drummer was smart enough to play z custom.

  • I donno'.. The only Zildjian that could compare to any Sabian AAX cymbals are A customs. I have yet to find any that could stand up to Sabian Vault or Paragon cymbals.

  • Avedis

Neil Peart used them for almost 40 years before making the Paragons

  • That is true Avedis are nice.

  • Although every cymbal company has their own line of cymbals for aggressive music, I think Paiste is the best because they have the RUDE line and more affordable Alpha rock/metal cymbals. Plus, the signature line offers power and heavy cymbals. Sabian AAXplosion cymbals are mean, too. Z customs just don't sound musical to me.

  • z customs are garbage i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole

  • Blows any Paiste ride away. Great for metal.

  • the Z series is only good if you are playing arena rock with twisted sister

  • lol slice sumone in half !

  • that has no color whatsoever

  • manhole cover...what a piece of shit

  • Its not a crash, its a ride... your suppose to ride the mid section on the top of the cymbal for riding during a song. Or use the bell, most Rides sound like shit and ring forever when crashed.

  • a lot of rides make great crashes. its a review. ur supposed to do anything u can do with it

  • thats not a big cymbal, its a small gong

  • wow thats actually just a giant gong!

what do you think about it breaking sticks?

  • It is deffinatly a stick breaker!

  • is this cool for metal stuff? becuz i have the mega bell ride and i hate it so bad.. but summ people said 2 me that this is very very powerful and with definition

  • mega bell not so good....other cymbals r beter prob

  • thanks for putting this up bro

  • u dont really like the sound of it...

  • dont love that cymbal..... the other z cymbals are really good though

  • I actually find it to be quite the opposite. I find this to be one of the best of the Z cymbals with ease.... and don't go based on this video. I have one that sounds much more controlled and much less gongy.... more like a ride should sound.

  • sooo should you crash this cymbal?

  • As most z customs are....heavy and LOUD!!! They fucking rock!!!

  • The cymbal that still rings when i stopped playing! It is so heavy and this ride has got so much power and energy - the sound is so clear and brilliant - and the bell cuts through all! AMAZING

  • I have it to, exact same thing. Absolutely brilliant cymbal.

  • just moved new area

    i liked this video :) 9n

  • Great cymbal!

  • In my opinion, this sound in this video doesn't do this ride cymbal justice. I think the camera is too close.

  • i got this cymbal with the deal I got about half a year ago...im not sure if i should keep it or trade it in for something more light. I like proggresive rock and this is very gongy and loud so its sortta experimental, but i also like jazz so i could use something i little less loud, and i really cant use this as a crash because its simply to loud for my gigs, but maybe someday ill be in a more experimental group :P

  • i think the sound here isnt the final it all i mean.. i luv this cymbal damn hard.. and the pitch here is a little diferent bcuz of the camera i think.. but is precious and loud.. i luv this ride and the mega bell from sabian, kreist mega bell and the sabian aa metal x ride 24 inch damn great definition of this rides

  • wow that baby is punishing. very gongy. last time i played one was in the 90's, and i forgot how brutal it was.

  • I heard this cymbal in person....you should have recorded it while standing farther away (Z customs have better cut than any other cymbal this is a great cymbal but ehhh volume)

  • I was looking for something resembling the sound Simon Phillips uses on the song "Crises" from 1983. This can be heard on youtube from a fabulous concert were you can hear his fantastic sound and playing. In addition to a ride, he also has a a different kind of cymbal, sort of a ride, and I like that sound too. Anyway, on this clip he doesn't play the ride often, but listen from 5:14 and a bit further and then 8:14 and a bit further (or why not everything): watch?v=Ggp_yN8DOgk&fmt=18

  • To clarify to anyone who didn't understand what I was talking about (especially to the confused person who anonymously put a thumbs down to my comment). The z custom power ride caught my interest because it seems to have some resemblance to the sound of the ride in the clip I was referring to.

  • As for Power Rides, I prefer the older version Zildjian Z Light Power Ride. They were designed to cut through in larger venues and outdoor events. And as he said, the stick definition is gret. You wouldn't be using this one in Church....

  • sounds like your hammering it, really pingy sound

  • yeah that ride is great for experimental stuff cuz i cant see that being played by bands like metallica etc.

  • Yeah, Eilic Singer from KISS and Alice Cooper plays that ride. (22" not 202)

  • ouch that was painful...now I know what NOT to get! but I hope youre pleased with it man! hate to waste money...

  • too pingy for me

  • i really like zildjian's there my first choise in cymbals but i think this one sound really bad,

  • Does anyone know any song were you can hear this ride? Would be interesting to hear it in a recording. This is the ride that interests me the most after listening to all the rides at Zildjians homepage...

  • please note the cymbals on there are studio recordings which can vary greatly from the way the cymbal sounds in person.

  • such a nice ride!

  • It sounds like a church bell. Not good.

  • dude the mega bell is much better this is to thick

  • if u want a metal ride the paiste rude power ride, in my opinion, and i put emphasis on my opinion, sounds a lot better

  • HAHA! i know! DECAY IS UBER LONG! just like the ride i have, ZXT Titanium

  • Fantastic Sounding Ride!!! Zildjian Roccks!!

  • jesus. that crash is like a fuckin tsunami!

  • it´s not 4 crashing!

  • it wasnt just made to be hit on top...

  • All rides are made to be hit on top!

  • dude, thanks so much for the review!

i was just considering getting one, and this couldn't have helped anymore!

  • whoot Z customs if zildjian made H custom then they would have my initials "AK,h

  • Thanks for the review

  • If you Guys can, Please put up Reviews of your own cymbals, guitars, drums, or whatever else, trust me people will watch them, there's not enough reviews out there of many products!

  • is this 22 inch or 20 inch

  • 20 inch

  • god u can tell how thick that is by the bell and ride

  • yeah dude, that thing just sounds BEASTLY

    o_o

    sooo sick for metal :D

    great video dude

  • AHAHA that shit sounds like a gong when you crash it. i like the cymbal though, but maybe it's not necessary for me. good vid

  • aye, nearly sounds like my z 20 inch projection crash. wow that thing sings man.

  • That ride is excellent for metal, and rock. I'm not good enough to make it work in any other situation. I can't see myself crashing one though!

  • is it just me or do those sound really bad ?

  • actualy it would probably sound good at fasters speeds like in blast beats I think

  • alto plato de dioss!!

  • I tried one of these out in store (16" crash actually) and I hated it compared to the other Zildjians, and to me those don't even compare to the Sabians I ended up buying. They just sound too metally and cheap to me, but I've noticed tons of musicians use them so they must have some quality thats good for recording?

  • shit man that crash sounds like satan reincarnated

  • all my cymbals are Z customs except for my 2 splashes.

  • i have a 16" power crash. i i would agree they are very heavy. i can use the crash as a ride because it is so thick!

  • okay. thats good. the thing is that i already have a zildjian "A" 20". and it sounds good and i can crash. so i want something that has a little more cutting sound. that raw sound. not something that i can crash on.

  • If you already have the A then go for it cause then you will have the best of both worlds! you will have a great cutting sound with the Z.

  • okay. thats good. the thing is that i already have a zildjian "A" 20". and it sounds good and i can crash. so i want something that has a little more cutting sound. that raw sound. not something that i can crash on.

  • ha np. but im thinking about a Z or an A. which one do you personally like better?

  • It depends, if your going for a ride you can crash, I would say go for the A. If you want a really loud cutting sound go for the z. Personally I would have gotten an A. But I though I would try something new, don't get me wrong I still love this cymbal its the only one ride that will ever sound like it, but the A would have been better for me.

  • if you just put a moon gel or a piece of a moon gel it will help. and its not near as tacky as putting tape under it

  • true im poor though lol so until I get some money it will have to look tacky...

  • I'm a metal drummer, and I only have one Z custom 18" crash. The rest of my 7 cymbals are all A customs.

To me Z customs are just too loud and the ring just last too long for my taste.

  • I agree that they last too long i fixed it by taping pieces of cloth to the bottom it really helped

  • It's cool, but not what I need right now. Thanks for the video!

  • definitely not my kind of cymbal at all

  • nice cymbal though

  • i wouldnt crash it lol, it has like zero build up

  • MY GOD IT SOUNDS WEIRD hehehe I prefer my 21" a custom projection ride

  • thats a nice bell

  • thanks for posting - was gunna get this but a lil too clangy think i'll try the A rock ride instead

  • Man that's sound awful! Crappy thing out try Paiste instead.

  • Hmm, I'm really not sure if I should get this cymbal... would it sound alright for jazz?

  • It depends it has a very slow decay to it, so if your playing slower jazz then it would probable be ok, but you would have to hit it lightly but the bell would be great for it. Never crash it unless you can hand mute it!

  • AH! sounds awful!! thanks for the preview now i know not to get it.

  • Thanks for the review, I decided to get the ZHT's instead...little less pricey...

  • very true i found this one used for 140 so i had to get it!

  • thanks for the review. i will need a huge stand to hold the 22 inch power ride i am saving for

  • yeah defiantly, I ended up putting a sand bag on the legs!

  • lol

  • dw 9000

  • umm wut about it? lol
