Actually Rippetoe says this "cheating" form is correct. You want the shoulders involved, because that is part of the natural movement. Read Starting Strength 3rd edition. Of course you also want the bar to start at the top, which this guy didn't do.

@2Akesater Maybe he is but I'd still always opt for quality over quantity no matter what your training goals are. I can see the benefit for powerful moves like dead lift or power cleans but not for a small muscle group such as the bicep.
This kind of training can be usefull sometimes, but its also a good way to get hurt. I would recommed that you go a little lighter, and make the eccentric face somewhat slower.. cheating is also good for getting the last reps. out of a set. To all the idiots here the point of eccentric training is that you can work the muscle like 120%, as to regular dynamic training, so you stress you muscle a lot more..

Doing reps like this is a good way to really encourage hypertrophy by focusing on the negative portion of the rep...however done like this is dangerous because not even focusing on the negative half, you just drop it back. Good demo of your strength though, most of these people commenting couldnt even do one rep with a weight like that, whether they do it with strict form or not.
cheat curls are a good way of bulkin up the arm...the negative half of the rep starts hurting like fuck if u slow it down a touch and not drop the weigh back to starting position, 80kg is a fair weigh also
i've found that as long as my form is great and i isolate the bicep although i may not lift quite as much as when i let the form go i see better gains in strength/mass etc, and i've had no injuries that way. my 2 cents

I think this does very little for actual bicep strength since it's mostly a swing and drop. However, I've seen a similar heavy curl done where you lower the weight slowly in a forced negative.

Doing that much weights incorrectly doesnt prove anything at least not to me. In a believer in strict form and no spotter. Also if I was training you ide tell you to do them slower without any momentum and no pause on the end of the lift NO REST. You're not stressing the biceps muscle 100% in this you do have some good

I think this does very little for actual bicep strength since it's mostly a swing and drop. However, I've seen a similar heavy curl done where you lower the weight slowly in a forced negative.
