this is awesome! i'm going to try this as soon as i can. i'm not a musician, but i'm a "soon to be" voice actor, so this would be perfect for me :D Thanks!
I used this idea, Went and found about 7 doors for free. Hinged them all together, stapled insulation to one side, stretched fabric over it, and set it up in my studio. I used it for anything from drums, to vocals, to violin, to acoustic guitar. This booth made my business possible in the beginning. Thank you for making this video.
Your design might work for you, however your plexiglass window only bounces the sound right back at you cresting back slap. One window can be plumb the second needs to be angled to redirect the sound waves away from the microphone. You will still be able to view your computer when recording. I would seal the gaps between the doors as well with a gasket of foam or rubber.
@cubsin4 It's true that the window is a direct reflective surface but because you never record directly at a flat surface (always at an angle), plus the acoustic foam that covers every other surface, there's never a problem.
I'm trackin' with you on the gaps. My plan already included options for sealing those.
i was gna use curtains on a curtain rail attatched to the ceiling for my booth, but this is a much better idea, love the fact that u can move the walls to change the dimensions of the booth, ill copying ur idea :D
MUST BE HOT UP IN THERE.. ALSO THE MIC IS TO CLOSE TO THE WINDOW..IF YOU HAD THE WINDOW IN A SLANT OR AN ANGLE IT WILL BE ALRIGHT.... BUT OVER ALL GREAT IDEA.. WHAT PROGRAM ARE YOU USING TO RECORD
@fredddielopez I use ProTools. I'm a long time recording voice talent and professional singer so I always record at an angle. I guess I should've mentioned that for those who don't know - thanks for doing that. :)
very nice. i poured through dozens of these "how to" videos and yours definitely exceeds them all in professionalism, presentation and practicality. lots of 'p' words. thank you!
@luckylexmusic I've done that too - and this IS easier. :) Always good to have one of these even if you have a studio - it works great to isolate a second voice or instrument if you want to record more than one person at a time. Plans at the voice club dot com slash products
FOR SUPPLY LIST AND WHERE I GOT THE DOORS click the link in the video description. Glad you guys are liking it. Might do a new one this year since I've moved and may add a few new things to my studio.
@jo3rock3r I believe she said "foam core doors." Some interior (inside) doors are hollow. You don't want hollow doors for your soundbooth. You want doors with a foam core.
Wow! You are very talented and creative. That is a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing. I'm building a home studio now and will be hitting the local surplus outlet and get the doors... maybe even the foam... May the Lord bless you
I put a complete plan w/ parts list, 3-d illustrations and special tips for noisy rooms here for you!

@cubsin4 Its not that serious to seal the gaps. Its not ment to be sound proofed.

Your booth is aight... But I think you don't wanna put the mic in front of the window. I mean, you shouldn't, because of reflections
ShahBeatzOfficial 4 months ago
@ShahBeatzOfficial Yup - I should've mentioned that I always record at an angle, aiming the sound at the acoustic foam and the edge of the mic.
