Firmware 1.5, do these Android phones get free firmware updates? after all, Android is open source so I would expect to get free updates for the device and making it better. Also, do you need to get a special plan for Android phones like the iPhone and the Blackberry? or are they basic phones?

But if you want to try them before the official release or if you want to try different ROM's, you can flash them (only if you know what you're doing!! you can brick your phone..)

I have the Magic, since it's pretty similar to the Hero in hardware (but Hero got 5MP cam and 3.5mm input), and I flashed it with a Hero ROM and it works even better than the videos I see with the HTC Hero out of the box! :D

I've got the Magic and Im very pleased with it

In landscape, after a while you get used to the software keyboard (you can try different ones from the Android Market) and in portret mode you can also choose for old fashion T9 keyboard

HTC Touch pro2 is also a nice phone to consider

You dont need the Magic if you have the Hero, and if you had the Magic and then bought the Hero, id say...better update, root, and flash your Magic and wait for the next Android phone because the Magic and Hero are almost identical in hardware...

That's no problem

You can watch them in 2 qualities, but I'd choose the best one. It works fine streaming with both wifi and 3G connection

You can also download any video by pasting the URL into the website KEEPVID . c o m (use the mp4 file, not the FLV)

When I have time I may be doing some videos on using the Magic Tips and Tricks etc.

Because, you probably want to download a couple apps that make your Android phone work better (ie the standard camera app is too basic)

Because it's commonly known amongst users that Google didnt integrate these services under BlueTooth..(time issues or w/e)

People say their are no dumb questions, but if somebody gives you the information and you can just pick up an Android phone to test it or google 2 words (android bluetooth) and find all the information you want within 10 seconds...I think dumb questions do exist

Anybody with Android on his phone (I got the HTC Magic) and hasnt figured out how to enable Bluetooth Data transfer...:

Download (from the "Market") the application "Bluetooth file transfer" (use search to find it)

And if you're not sure whether you should buy a Android based phone (like the HTC magic)..DO IT, i love it!

Every little thing that's lacking is most of the time free available for download on "Market", and you can customize a lot if you're (like me) not easily pleased :D

Well idk about the US but in Canada, Rogers is carrying it, and ATT in the US carries the older version of this. Most GSM carriers should have this. hope this helps :)

I agree, that's the main reason I have not bought a touch mobile yet. Everyone seems so happy with their touch mobiles but I can't really see why, just because of the damn bad respond.. I think we have to give the producer of the phones a few years before they can do as great touch as it is on the touchpad on laptops. i have th g1 and love it but lacks some things. The g2 looks pretty good but it doesnt have the slide out keyboard and the touchseen keyboard loks really small. Another thing to ask is the g2 gonna have flash player!

this is NOT the G2! it has all of the same stuff the G1 has with the exclusion of a qwerty keyboard. If they call it the G2, it will imply that it is a take over of the G1.
