  • Instructor: Dear Pilots, and now for the normal checklist for landing in Tancontin and its very important. two shots of Vodka, 1 of Gin, 3 of whisky and keep the beer untouched for use after the landing...THATS IT !!!

  • WOW,fast landing for a 737!!!

  • Definitely a cal 737-700. I think that's all cal flies into Toncontin. And yes its pre-winglet mod.

  • I think I would shit my pants.

  • 737 Continental

  • @lasanha45 I think it is most likely to be a Copa Airlines 737, they have the same livery, but Copa serves all central american airport with higher fly frecuency, but the video es to blur to be sure with airline is

  • @panapanzer @lasanha45 It's a continental 737... you can tell the difference with the drawing of the globe. While Continental's golden the Copa one is white. Copa only service Tegucigalpa in 737's once a day... From Panama/San Jose... And one Embraer direct from Panama

  • yet air travel is still among the safest way of transportation

  • @craker3833 THE safest mode of transportation.

  • terrible pilot

  • @xMapleStarzx

    No, terrible airport.

  • @xMapleStarzx

sorry sir, but you obviously have no idea what you´re talking about ;)

    no hard feelings though...

  • Pilot: Attention passengers we have decided not to land here. There is a nearby airport much safer with less risk.

ATC: AA576 Justin Bieber is on the runway. Repeat: Justin Bieber is on the runway.

Pilot: Attention passengers, change of plans. We are landing...its worth the risk.

  • @leecrazy100 at least you manages to knock bieber out with your plane!!

  • @leecrazy100 you stole that comment

  • loool sorry i was bored and i hate it when people think there right when i know there wrong, they think they know wot there talking about :/

  • Balls of Steel

  • why are the landings always so fast here?

  • Man that was a thrill. Roller coaster jet.

  • @DranQNitrouS The -500, -300, -400 (small to large) are 2nd generation with 95' wingspan. -600, 700, 800, 900 (smallest to biggest) are Next Gen with 112' wingspan. -300 and -700 have the same fuselage and have one emergency exit door over the wing. the -500 and -600 are the really short ones (also one door). 400: 2 emergency exits over wing a bit longer than 300, short 95' wings. -800 & -900: 112' wingspan, 2 exits over the wing, longer than the -400. -800 looks balanced, 900 looks looong.

  • @StratMatt777 this is a 737-700

  • @StratMatt777 this is a 737-700

  • @pilotanthony Yes, I know, but thanks for replying to all seven of us! :)

It can be difficult to tell the difference between a -600 and a -700 in a low quality video shot from far away, but Continental does make it easy for us spotters since they don't own any -600s!

  • @StratMatt777 haha yes also if you pause at 0:20 you can see vaguely the shape of the wing just behind the number 1 engine you can see its different compared to the old generation 737's :)

  • lol at 0:22 i thought he was gonna try to land on the bus

  • @DranQNitrouS Depends on the length normally. The 737 has 8 different versions(ish). the 737-100 doesn't fly anymore, there are a few 200 series left, but the most popular 737's are 800 or 300. The 700/800/900 series normally have massive winglets on them.

  • Continental Boeing 737-700

  • @jessecruzu thats correct mate!

  • @jessecruzu yeee thats right!

  • LOL i almost thoughts its lining up to land on that road! :P

  • It's a lot different now then when I flew in and out of there over 20 years. I understand the runway has been lengthened (some). When I flew in, you look out the window and you wonder where the hell the airport is. Then when you see, it feels like you are trying to hit a dime on a football field. Then you wonder how the heck you are ever going to get out of there. Very scary, very.

  • The shuttle to the hotel is a pack of mules.

  • great airport for planespotting

  • thank goodness they got down safely. Must've been equally scarey being inside the plane. Praise be to God every time a plane lands safely. Do you know that we are like little birds up there. We could easily get into a storm or something could go wrong with our plane and we are at the mercy of the natural forces. I for one shouldn't be watching these videos because I fly home tomorrow but I try to only watch the planes that land safely. I have a healthy respect for my mortality these days.

  • @srebrenika

You must be a blast at parties...Jeez...

  • @chendrik lol mate bore for britain squad!

  • Gnarl balls!

  • i hate toncontin

thats why i use san pedro sula airport

it has longer runway and its not behind a mountain

  • that pilot have balls of steel!

  • Wow... Very dangerous... Amazing pilot!

  • Looks just like the airport at George Town, Grand Cayman. Except for the mountains..and the human monkeys that live in Honduras..fucking third world savages..would never go there..never.

  • @ttiger5050 Grand Cayman is crap also so don't talk.

  • @ipath45

You obviously have never been to The Cayman Islands..as a matter of fact you have probably never left your trailer..fucking mental midget that you are.

  • @ttiger5050 Wow, Great one buddy. I happen to fly with American Eagle as an F/O currently. So i have obviously have left my trailer before. Also, if I was was mental, I defiantly would not have my commercial pilots license nor if i was a midget. Think before you talk.

  • @ttiger5050 lol i'm from Honduras, I'm 100% sure I'm smarter than you ;) got a full sholarship to Japan, got accepted into WHeaton and Calvin college with a $22,000 dolar scholarship on each but decided to go to Japan beacuse education here is 3 times better than in America.. pwned bitch

  • seein airplanes this low turns me on : P

  • Easy airport to land in.. I can land a A310 in Toncontin while very calmly drinking a cup of coffee.

  • @manny298 trust im from honduras u would have to be train so well to be able to land or take off from here because when ur landing there is a hill in the bak that u have to pass and then u have the fence infront

  • Asi es esto aqui en Honduras!

  • John: Is that an airplane?

    Frank: Yes RUN!!!

  • It really annoyed me how this author stole all my TGU videos from another aviation video website and posted them here on youtube back in 2006. I will be posting these videos here on youtube finally but at a higher resolution since I have the original Digital8 8mm tapes I used to film these.

  • @dreyes78

Boo Hoo..shut up douchbag.Who cares who filmed this boring ass shit. It's not like you Nicole Richie getting gang banged on something dumbass.

  • @ttiger5050 What kind of douche steals other people's videos? Film your own videos. If it's so boring why do you waste your time commenting? Sounds like you're the cry baby, mind your own business. I was there with dreyes78 in person, I know he made this film. People should create original videos and stop ripping others off! Your comment shows your lack of education and manifests your stupidity. You sound like little BITCH!

  • this plane is a boeing 737 continental airlines

  • great video !

  • ses attérisage es halucinant lol

  • Toncontín is a joke airport.

It is an accident waiting to happen.

Oh wait... there have already been two fatal accidents because of the JOKE length of the runway.

A typical LEDC airport, surrounded by hills, built before the jet age.

As much as I like watching these approaches on YouTube... :)

  • what is an LEDC airport?

  • @DRaG0NREdZ

It's basically your typical, dodgy international airport in a 'less economically developed country' and therefore they can't afford to build another one elsewhere (although the government are planning to replace the airport soon or move operations elsewhere)

  • @Doomsday2060 oh ok i understand, thanks for the info...

  • 2 all who r confused his speed was fine

  • ARRIBA COPA!!!!!

  • Génial

  • He looks like hes coming in waaay too fast.

  • I don't know if you know anything about the art of flying aircraft (apparently you don't), but speed is just fine. Nothing wrong with it. Approaching too slow isn't very safe either.

  • Oh, I'm sorry. Thank you for being a douche bag about it.

  • I thought it looked fast too, but I think it's an optical illusion from being so close. His angle of attack looks to be normal for a 737 landing. I'd like to see the view from the mountain top though, because it looked like he landed long (could be another optical illusion?)

  • The threshold is 800ft from the perimeter fence, thus it appears that the a/c landed long. As for speed, I doubt any sane pilot would fail to abort a overly fast approach at this airport. See TACA flight 390.

A quick visual comparison to other 737 landings leads one to conclude that this one isn't really going any faster than normal.

  • Lol. let's build a city on a hill and behind the hill, an airport!!!!

  • Well after the Taca A320 crash they're finally planning on transferring international flights to a nearby AF base so this will probably be a thing of the past like Kai Tak in the next decade...

  • Well what should they have done, built the airport on the hill instead? lol

  • Was that a Copa Airlines jet? They've got the same tail logo as Continental Airlines... I think.

  • @hawktb9 Its a very close similarity, the Continental tail has longitude and latitude lines lines, the Copa tail only has latitude lines.

  • was he going to fast, or was that just the camera that made it seem he was going too fast?

  • The Hondouran GO VT Seriously Needs To Build a NEW Airport that is WAYYY To Dangerous....

  • that's so dangerous...

  • ppppffffffffffffffff

  • very dangerous approach

  • @videosmalucos123 i definetely agree!

  • that was a 737, definitely.

  • Yeah if you don't see that then you hardly know anything about aviation

  • @helmyfis01ub yeah looks like a 737-800 because of the longer cabin, but I know its not.

  • @specops3866 this is a 737-700

  • @helmyfis01ub 737-600 ??

  • @zero2084 nahhh i think it was a 737-300 or 737-500 it didnt have winglets which most 737-600s do

  • @hockeyman1119 your mistaken it was a 737-700

  • @pilotanthony im not mistaken Continental has winglets on all 737-700s however they dont on 737-500 which they own

  • @hockeyman1119 you are very mistaken, this is a -700 BECAUSE: 700's back in 06 never had winglets and yes 737-500's of Continental do have winglets so you are very mistaken

  • @hockeyman1119 you are very mistaken, this is a -700 BECAUSE: 700's back in 06 never had winglets and yes 737-500's of Continental do have winglets so you are very mistaken.

you can even tell this is a 737-700 BECAUSE: if you pause it at 0:20 you can see the shape of the wing just behind the number 1 engine the wing is different to the old generation 737

  • @pilotanthony yeah now i know im misteaken my bad =) but is all you do tell people that they are wrong? u have like 10 other comments

  • @zero2084

    It's a 737-500. Continental doesn't operate -300s or -600s.

  • @AviationNation787 your wrong, in fact that is a 737-700

  • @zero2084 737-700*

  • don't be afraid of landing in toncontin now that road donesn't exist anymore the airstrip is now larger and is still active i have landed lot of times in that airport and the accidents aren't frequent another thing no one wanted palmerola because the road to that airport is more dangerous than this airport and palmerola is like one and half hour in car, Tegucigalpa can't be whitout an airport , i it's the capital of Honduras and if you think toncontin is dangerous you must investigate more

  • @apocaliptor1 currently the government is working in a project of improving the road all the way from San Pedro Sula to Tegucigalpa, that means the road from Palmerola as well. I traveled the road 3 months ago and when its finished it will actually be a very good road to travel on. The only problem is that now after the military coup hapened there are no more plans to change the airport to palmerola.

  • i stood behind that same fence when i saw my mom leave on every of her trips, it makes me sad, but i dont think they let people do that anymore since the accident.. but yea, the landing scares the shit outta me everytime i go there, im ashamed that honduras is notorious for its dangerous airport...

  • I understand the feeling, honduras should be internationally reconized for its good things not for this, but some things will never change. now we are famous for the political problems. by the way I have no idea why I wrote this in english. XD

    Al.

  • i would hate to land there!!! madd scary :(

  • A little" pucker factor" maybe?

  • cooool

  • You're a dipshit.

  • q pobreza---

  • lol tha is honduras lol

  • Nice footage !!!

  • woa thats pretty fast

  • Looked a little fast no?

  • that and looked like he ran out of runway lol

  • stop at 0:24... it's a good picture lol. the plane is coming really fast and low... that's what happens when the runway is too small. :P

I need to try this approach in FSX...

  • damnn it looks like hes gunna land on the highway.. that is a good picture

  • Almost hit the bus and the truck. Close this airport!

  • theres no space in honduras to build another airport, Honduras is my hometown.

  • que peligroso es ese aeropuerto por dios

  • I'd like to see some crosswind here..

  • hahahahaha

  • He llegado en avión y me he ido en avión.

  • hondurus is overun by gangs and has one of the highest murder rates on earth, I would be horrified to end up there!

  • Woah Jacobssandy, yes Honduras is dangerous because of the gangs (although only in some areas), but to say that you "would be horrified to end up there" is a little insensitive to the people that call Honduras their home don't you think. Just asking for you to be a little less judgmental. :-)

  • But isn't not dying more important than being sensitive and understanding?

  • Thats a bumpy landing!

  • thnx buddy!

  • I usually go to the airport nearby me and i tape planes taking off and landing. It's pretty fun to see them :)

  • oh snap!

  • Copa or Contenentail

  • continental

  • worst airport in central america

  • wow! what an approach!

  • PheWXxx if you want to land there better star learning Spanish, the only Airlines that fly to toncontin are: American-Continental-TACA-Copa,no European Airlines lands at toncontin Airport.

  • Aeromexico

  • That plane landed at an awesome speed.

I'm in the RAF at the moment, becoming a commerial airline pilot soon! I hope to land here someday.

  • Pretty much a carrier landing... awesome!

  • te falto el zoom peeeeeeee

  • Señor Spode, I might suggest to get well informed first, before you talk that crap, the war didn't have its origin on a soccer game, but because of the Salvadorian invading our territory unlawfully, and committing all sort of crimes against honduran of the country area. Because they wanted an exit to the Atlantic Sea. They even had a map showing how El Salvador might look after they "won" that territory, yeah right.

    Best Regards.

  • those pilots are amazing.

  • wow

  • The 737 landing doesn't look as dangerous as the 757

  • Thats because the Hill that you see in the popular AA 752 was bulldozed in the mid 1990's and this video appears to be more current. The approach is still just and interesting but less dangerous in my opinion.

  • pilots have guts here...well done...

  • "The Football War of 1969". Only third-world countries would fight over a lousy sport. Not saying it's any better or worse than fighting over a billion barrels of oiil, but ya gotta admit, it's pretty ghey.

  • The war was caused by political differences

  • There were political differences and Spanish interests involved, just some people brought it up in a soccer match.

You should check any non-american history book from time to time, or look it up in wikipedia if you are too lazy to read a book.

  • Nice landing!

  • For those making negitive comments about the Honduran government I say. Go visit Honduras. It is a very poor country trying the best they can to get modern. My wife (who made the comment in spanish) comes from Tegus, Honduras. We spent 10 days in May 08 & were treated with absolute respect by everyone we met. The country is so poor people beg on the downtown street corners. If you have not been there close your mouth or be nice. They are wonderful people.

  • We do have 3 more International airports you fucking Dick Hea. The Taca 390 crashed because the dawn pilot landed at half of the runway

  • Ahahahahaha Well said man!!!

  • Wow and thats their international airport!!!

They should build another one....seriously....no wonder why that plane crash the airport is practically in a fucking hill, after the track theres a fucking cliff :P

  • I've landed at this airport 4 times. Guess now I know why the passengers clap after a successful landing!

  • What a shame for the government to have such as airport! they better build another one becasue we dont want more accidents to happen at this airbase as i would call it. i would never fly to TGU, its basically a suicide..

  • I have landed in Tegucigalpa. It is quite scary as the plane has to hug the mountains surrounding the city to make it's approach. There is a road at one end of the runway, and it has stoplights on each side of the runway. The lights turn red when a plane is landing, then as soon as the plane passes, the traffic resumes. At the other end of the runway is a cliff, so if you don't get stopped you go right off the edge.

  • dude whats happens is that the airport was opened like in the 1920s and since the airstrip has never been extended because there is no where to extend it, i lived there 17 years and i fear every time i land there. the government should open palmerola as the new commercial airport and build concorses and shit to make it a good airport

  • Was that an emergency landing and they simply HAD to stop there? Or were those people actually TRYING to go to Honduras? hahaha If for some reason I was stupid enough to live there, knowing how dangerous that airport is, I would never go anywhere! That is ridiculous. What dumb ass designed a shithole like that?

  • Who needs to go to Honduras THAT badly?

    No thank you.

  • these airport must be used by navy pilots that wants to improve landing in aircraft carriers

  • And thats what caused the accident , a bad weather with even a worse airport , hondoras, is this your principal airport?

  • I think the official word from the Honduran government is that they're going to divert all future heavy aircraft travel from Toncontin to Palmerola, which use to be an airforce base and has an 8500ft runway.

  • There is another international airport in the city of San Pedro Sula, about 4 hours away from Tegucigalpa (by land.)

  • it looks like there is no margin for error.
