Saw Stevenson and Powers in 1988 at Bradford beach against Hov/Dodd. Great match, went 18-16. Have to say that he motivated me to play cuz of his height. people forget too qucikly how great people like him and Hanley were. If Hanley wasn't selling million dollar houses late in his career, he would have been right in the mix. Saw him and Whitty battle Johnson and Luytties in the first live televised match.... It was unreal. Thanks for the memories guys.
Jon Stevenson, what an amazing player!!! It's too bad Pat Powers got hurt after their great 1988 season which is why he and Hanley got back together in 1989. There wasn't a real significantly dominant team in 1988. Stoklos/Smith won 9 events. Hovland/Dodd won 8. Powers/Stevenson won 7, and 2 of those wins were 2 of the 3 big money Cuervo events. Powers/Stevenson were also a real exciting team because, while having great skills, both of them could pound the crap out of the ball.
awesome
