  • I remember hearing this on the radio.

  • What a great version of a lovely song. Had this on tape and still do I think!

  • This was the first, and only version of this song that I liked.

  • Had this on tape when I was like 13! Now I'm 32 and my 13 year old is playing the alto and the baritone sax :) -3

  • Yeardly Smith gives Lisa's voice

  • I had the cassette when I was little

  • I used to have these songs on tape when I was little. It brings back many memories!!

  • I think there's one correction though, isn't it 'the strong gets more,' not smart? But it does actually sound like she says ssmart.

  • Who gives her the voice? I love it!!

  • The great Yeardley Smith.

  • my favorite song on this CD, and my fav parte is when at the end lisa and murphy begin to plat together...thats so inspiring

  • This and Mikalah Gordon's covers are my favorites, haha

  • Who's the person actually playing sax?

  • (sigh) A beautiful piece from a great jazz singer performed by my absolute favorite Simpson...what more could anyone ask?

  • this is the shit woo hoo

  • man i had this tape when i was 13 !! this make me feel so old !!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome sax-playing! Well well.... Lisa´s got talent! ^^

  • You, know, I've heard this song multiple times.... and I think this might be the best version.

Even better than the original, even. And that's saying a lot.

  • thats her real voice. trippy isnt it

  • Love this Tape on travels when my children act up, this really breaks up the

Boredown. I have the original too . Also the Billie Holiday version. A treasure for sure..

  • God bless lisa

  • Is it fucked up that I think Lisa has the best version of this song? Its by far my fav.

  • i had it on cd but my friend had my cds in his truck when he totaled it. i didnt lose them all just the ones i really liked

  • usedv too have this on tape!!! before CDs were invented lol this was my fav song

  • i dont know the 1 person who doesnt like this but i already know that i wont like them

  • i love the simpsons and i didnt know about this album, gotta chekzor it outzor

  • i am so very, very happy that i have been searching for this song for 20 years!!! this, by far, is the greatest album that i have owned, until it wore out, lolol!!! for what it's worth, i don't want to cry, but i thank you so fiercely much, anthonyjaysimpson, for making me extremely happy again!!! this is ONE of my most favorite tracks from the album!!! one love to you, bro!!! one love!!!

  • Yeardly did so well with this song!!! She gave Lisa quite a nice singing voice! In my opinion, Yeardly Smith as Lisa Simpson should release a solo album of her own, because this is a true masterpeice right here <3

  • Yeardley Smith has a hell of a voice.

  • great song

  • A few more corrections: (...) Yes, the strong gets smart While the weak ones fade Empty pockets don't... they never make the grade (...) But when it's gone, and all your spending ends They don't come round no more (...) Rich relations give Crust of bread and such
  • Man, I loved the Simpsons as a kid, and listened to this tape constantly. I think it single handedly expanded my musical tastes to a degree that I'm only just realizing now.

  • My music teacher use to play this for us. Wow! Childhood favorite!

  • this is my favorite

  • this was my first cd ever! with my first cd player too! i remember like was yesterday it was springtime..hahaha, really nice job with the music on the cd real thing, is a honor that i had this and..mm mariah! cd yes! for my first cd player! hugs!

  • I have this album!!!!!!!

  • GO LISA!!!! *sings with Lisa*

  • beautifully sung, with wonderful lyrics and music. Amazing song.... but, got what? got his own what?

  • @KidOnTheNet Money. It's about being independent.

  • @Jasonatron ooooooo

    cool

  • That was a good song. It was good how it was done, especially with Mr. Murphy's *whatever his first name was* part.

  • My first CD ever bought! I heard it about 20 million times. liked this song best.

  • Minor correction on the spelling of her name: It's Yeardley, not Yardley - just so ya know...

  • Yardley Smith does a really great job on this. For the record we actually got them to put this in the juke box at the bar were we hung after work. It turned into one of the most popular records played. Thanks for posting it.

  • @essexlph

    You nailed it

It's amazing how beautiful a singing voice she has, while *remaining in character*

If I'd thought about it before hearing it, I would never have believed it could be done; I imagined she'd keep the Lisa voice at the cost of the song. Glad I was so wrong

btw, I think she spells it "Yeardley"

  • wow i thought i was the only one who spent my afternoons wearing out the tape on this song.. guess not:P

wish i could go back and do it again

a comment on the lyrics though: alot of the lyrics are wrong you should look up the actual lyrics

  • i had the tape :')

i wore it out at this track :(

    it was all muffled

yet if i heard the muffled version, i know id get nostalgic bout it

Listening to it rite now on my zune HD

    Times sure have changed..

  • me encanta el sax en esta cancion.

  • I love you Lisa!

  • Yes I too had the CD to this.A classic in my opinion.

  • I have this cassette too! I agree it is an awesome song! I LUV Lisa's voice!

  • I use to had this on cassette too I think Lisa sang her heart out on this song.Beauiful song.

  • I had the tape too : )

  • lol i got the tape too. awesome song

  • I wore this song out on tape, too! LOL!

BTW - anthonyjsimpson, it's "Mama may have...Papa may have", not "Mayhem". Someone may have cleared that up, but I didn't see it.

I need to get this on CD so I listen to it w/o fear of the tape falling more to pieces and so I can listen on my computer and in my car. :-) Beautiful music!

    Thanks for sharing!
