Well i visited Girvan whilst staying up at Ayr last week 16/8/11,and i was very disapointed to see the demise of this once grt harbour and dare i say holiday resort,no baths no fun fare no large amusement arcade, all gone just one large car park,why?/i ask,ok spain and other places attract holiday makers these days but no one will go to Girvan now there is nothing there, and the main street is dieing on its feet and beginning to look quite grubby,i speak from hollidaying many times in the 60/70s
Thanks. We are coming for a holiday nearby in June and will be sure to vist Girvan. That is a fine harbour with too few vessels! With fishing, manufacturing and now banking screwed up what's next to go pearshaped?!
You've got a good eye for what's worth videoing and the pace is right too. The dance music fair trots along sweetly. Wish I could country-dance (too nervous since being cured of it many years ago by a ghastly primary school teacher in 1965!)
looks great in the vid, just a shame its turned into such a ghost town, all run down and delapatated. I spent my youth there when the pet shop was going at the traffic lights, now im talking 40+ yrs ago, I now line in N.Ireland, and am saddened when I return home to see the state of the place
Yes, I love it and the people!! I was brought up there and go back to visit my family 3/4 times a year. Hopefully this year Girvan will get awarded its long overdue funding..fingers crossed!! cheers
Another great video! I love your sepia fishing boat near the end, lovely shot. Waiting on The Federals is a great track to go along with it!

Go there every year for the folk festival :)
Been going for about 12 years
Good memories
But a shame to see it go from a thriving town to what it is today :/
