Hip-Hop has 4 essential elements which mean DJing, Breakin, Graffiti and MCing and it will always mean that. Hip-Hop rap always delivered messages about real life situations and struggles which is why I think it appealed to the younger audience back then. Most MC's struggled to build up their own unique flow which made them original.
