The scream was actually recorded and dubbed in later because when Daniel Stern screamed like that, the noise would frighten the spider. He mime screamed when this scene was being filmed.

I love this movie, and the best part about this is that (outside of the tarantula just so happening to be there) it's the most believable of the traps. I can completely see Marv reacting this way even when loosing loot and getting arrested is at stake.
