lol, i first heard this song in a movie with guillermo diaz. my mom would kill me if she heard me say this out loud but this versions better than the david cassidy version
While I'm not a big fan of this cover (was in 1st grade with the Partridge family came out and was a huge fan), I love Voice of the Beehive. It's cool that I can see videos of them on Youtube now since I never saw them on MTV back in 1988 when I was into them.
@shandamoon, @anzac2404 you think you're getting old; first pop song I remember hearing was"Pittsburgh Pennsylvania" Guy Mitchell- just after we had come to Canada from UK; stopped listening to new music about 70; last few yrs been playing catch-up with the net. Was into the early Metal when I bailed. I About this song - Great Version -not bubble gum The group is bit like early rock Check out Eddie Cochran btw Ever heard "I had too much to dream last night" ;)
This takes me back....way back, getting old is a bitch LOL. Thanks for posting this, first time in yonks since I've heard this tune; just as good now as it was back then!
@shandamoon, Yes I remember the partridge family, its still a great song but the two bands do justice unlike some bands/singers that get their hands on a song & then kill it....Aaaarrrrrgggghhhh!
So yeah, we're both getting on a bit LOL but the 60's & 70's & plastic 80's did bring out some great bands/singers & songs, Cheers.
Red hair and two buns high on top of my head. The problem was my hair was too short and blond. i tried to dye my hair red but ended up with pink blotches. I tried but failed and was totally shattered.
Catchy. Great hook! Also check out Going Down to Liverpool by the Bangles. Not their biggest hit but full of irresistible hooks which just grab you and pull you in.
The bands name Voice of the beehive is a salute to legendary humanitarian Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney. He proved with a device of his own design that beehives emmit an ultrasonic binary signal which he said could be interpreted as a language. Unfortunately to academias great loss Dr Maloney disappeared in 1981 before he could decipher what the bees were saying. Interestingly the bee is a symbol of nobiltiy which I think says something of the great dr!
No I'm not related to him, but I am a disciple of Dr. Maloneys. It's interesting that you should have said "Jeez, bang that drum" as Dr. Maloney was a pioneering percussionist, one of his many talents, and he invented break beat marimba, he was also a leading exponent of the syncopated bongo style.
I recently learned about Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney's break beat marimba while studying about the doctor's hot air balloon trips across the world. Syncopated bongo style grew in popularity mainly because of the doctor.
Are you not aware of the legendary Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney Darkfung? It is nearly impossible to write anything about him without sounding as if one is "banging a drum". I, too, am a disciple of the great doctor. Perhaps you would like to know more about him.
razorbladebunny....when it was first "RELISHED" What a strange thing to do. I am however open minded I'll try it with some relish and see if I like it! Perhaps you could suggest a good relish!
dam my spelling, as you can see I'm dislexic, but hey try it with sun dried tomoto because in my book everything tastes good with that apart from sponge pudding thats just wrong...
Suspectdevice7 might not be the next Gordon Ramsey, but sure as hell might be the next Heston Blumenthal!!! PS, love the idea of the song being relished, so much better than being released, so much more exciting!
They did that song in the 90's that made me think they had to be reading my diary...something about"I'm nobody's baby..there's sun in the spring...?Well,thank you for helping me remember their name, because I want to make a video to that!
Thank you for posting this video. I never saw any of their videos before. So Tracey was the deep voiced one and Melissa sang the higher parts? I never knew that; I thought it was the other way around.
Never saw this on American TV, only Canadian. Sometimes I want to smack everyone in the music industry HARD. Thanks for reminding me of something good from 1991.

Tracey Bryn and Melissa Belland were the daughter and step daughter of a 4 Prep so they are half sisters.
And this sort of thing just makes Rock Critics even stupider than they so very obviously are as the "experts" would tell us bubblegum was rubbish.
The suddenly in the late 80s Tommy James became a big influence on Indie Pop
