  • @postoffice56 IT SCARES me as a adult

  • @psu68born It shows you even though "Soap"'s a comedy, it had some really dark moments. I remember watching this and it was so unexpected, I was scared shitless!! I couldn't sleep that night! :O

  • black servants are so sagacious....

  • ROFL!!! Love it!! Wish they continued this for another season!!

  • I'm watching this at 2am too, waaagh scared me when I was a kid too...

Eunice is hotter than Corrine though. Couldn't make up my mind when I was 8.

  • My sister used to watch this, which meant I had to as well, I was about 8 and I remember covering my eyes to this, totally freaked me out at the time.

  • This scene was SOO CREEPY!! The ending LITERALLY gave me goosebumps! but it was also HILARIOUS because I ALWAYS laugh when Jessica baby talks . haa!

  • It sounds creepier at 2 in the morning. O_O

  • I found this scene both disturbing and funny the first time I saw it many years ago. Corinne's deranged mother-in-law (played by Doris Roberts) put an evil curse on the baby. It was probably inspired by movies like "It's Alive". Even the bassinet looks like the one in the movie.

Did you know that Diana Canova (Corinne) is also a very good singer? I remember seeing a segment of her singing on "Battle of the Network Stars".

  • @Seventiesfan I thought it was inspired by Rosemarry's Baby. And the reason was because Corrine seduced Tim the Preacher into leaving the church for her. So Tim the fallen Priest has Satan for a son. But I want to see a real scene when the baby really gets evil against the priest. It's been so long I don't really remember what happens.

  • @Miracle490d It's been years since I've seen an entire episode, but I do remember things like a deep, evil voice and the room shaking, similar to the Liquid Drano commercials that were airing at the time.

  • Seventiesfan, I never watched "SOAP", but, I always liked the theme music. You're right, this scene is a lot like "It's Alive". What makes it extra spooky is the music that comes in. It's also very much reminicent from a scene in "Bewitched".

  • @KingofPepsi I remember watching "Soap" very late at night because lots of TV stations at the time would not air the show in its regular time period. I also remember seeing "It's Alive" at the movie theater when it came out. It doesn't seem so scary now, but it sure was on the big screen all those years ago.

  • Seventiesfan, I can buy the entire series of "SOAP" for $35. Do you think the price is worth it? Based on this clip alone, I already like the show.

Also, did it spin-off other shows besides "Benson"?

  • @KingofPepsi Buy it if you really like it. But I warn you, the show can get a bit racy at times. After all, it was banned when it first went on the air. By 1977 standards the show was shocking, but by 2011 standards, it's Sunday school TV. You decide for yourself. I tell you this because I spend a great amount of time watching DVDs of Captain & Tennille, Breaking Away, Roller Boogie, Xanadu, etc. I also watch shows like Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley on Hub- very mild shows.

  • @KingofPepsi, Benson was Soap's only spin-off.

  • Seventiesfan, Thank you for the suggestion.

  • @KingofPepsi The "Soap" series was VERY MUCH BETTER than this one episode. Buy the entire series for $35 (it's a bargain). I taped the entire series directly off the air in the 1970s and find that it is as clever and funny as ever, even now the the 2010 year. Go get it. You'll love it.

  • mpeindms, You got me SOLD!! I'm filling my order card for it right now!! Thanks.

Also, I'm very interested in "Farscape". It looks awesome, but I don't know that much about it. I did see one scene where the lead actor gets into an argument with one of those space creatures, it was hilarious. Hmmm...?

  • Jessica had nice big mature tits

  • Do you have this whole episode on here??

  • this scared me the first time i saw it. lol, very embarressing night considering that before this i watched evry horror movie tht i could get my hands on and those didnt scare me......

  • Katherine Helmond looks so scary at times. Her face looks very skeletal. She had a nice bod though.

  • yea but you had to like her and the characters she played

  • i wonder what other movies aurthur peterson played it.

  • Wheres the reat???!!! This is one of my favorite story's! I wanna see the rest!!!!! Please upload!

  • WIsh you had the conclusion, where jessica confronts the possessed baby and tells him to leave.

  • This is like the most hilarious season!

  • creepy! more clips!

  • This episode scared that crap out of me.

  • LOL! I scared me too. This whol efamily was crazy. OK maybe not crazy, just Extra special. I loved them though...

  • Sad...even this show jumped the shark...right there when the credits rolled after the voice.

  • Yikes! That gave me the chills! I remember when this was first shown, I thought it was somebody that was out to get the Tates, never thought it would be the "real" devil.

  • This show was great, wish some channel would re-run it

  • love this show! I remember this clip and it still scares me!

  • I had a big crush on Corrine Tate and I named a cat after her. I love Soap best show on TV in the late 70's

  • Good I'm not the only one who liked her. LOL

  • Nah..the other sister was hotter.

  • great clip

  • Man I remember this I was a kid watching this late on ABC when I wasn't supposed to be in bed. This scene freaked me out and scared me sensless. To funny. It's right up there with watching the advertisement for the movie "Magic".
