Also I am a CS major so the CLI and compiling from source is LOL for me. Not having a GUI is actually preferible, the BSD box does a lot of CPU intensive calculations (cryptography) and I need it 100% dedicated to the job, not drawing tits on my 47" monitor.

My gaming rig / workstation runs Windows 7 though =D

Well linux desktop doesnt work.Dont mention servers just to make your point.I am using linux for 2 years every day and it sucks.Its free cause noone would pay money for this!!!And i dont mean the kernel.I mean all the crappy open source imitations of real software that crash all the time.When any linux distro reaches the level of xp then you can say that you ve got a modern operating system.I am glad that real linux users admit that the os is crappy.

1111111111111i have install ubuntu and kubuntu like 4 times on a 6670t core2duoand 1 gb od ram, 4500x gma , terrible performance, quake 3 runs like a 500mhz old bullshit of computer, firefox runs awful after open 3 tabs , terminal is somethins i can tolerate but slowness and problems with java and a lot of time wasted no,cant tolerate that that is stupid,then install hackintosh,graphic card dont work,the performance is incredible even running on software i was able to watch 720pvideo,

It's not distro problem. It's Ati video problem, have always been. Ati radeon 9200, HD3870, HD4670.

CPU sources are 100% full = soo another program can't load. But if i start flash first, then RecordMyDesktop, flash video plays just fine.

I have seen slower cpu's with Nvidia video or Intel int capturing screen 10-20x faster than (my core 2 duo e7400 2,8GHz does1-2 fps @ 720p - 1440x896pix)

Linux does have crappy wireless support. I had to hack the crap out of it to get Linux to work on my Gateway M-1626, whereas in Windows once the drivers were installed that was it. Linux may run well on watches/games consoles/other gimmicky devices and servers, but it still has a lot of work to become a real desktop contender, which is why people have issues with it.

Also, you may want to make sure you aren't using broken graphics drivers when you're trying to pwn Windows users.

KDE has had WiFi configuration tools for a while bundled into their desktops since 4.0 I believe it even has tools to let you use Windows drivers.

Linux is awesome, but I wish Adobe would develop for them, then I wouldn't need to save up for a Mac :P. Personally, I don't think Linux distributions with a GUI, are that hard to learn, but I always think the worst thing a Linux newibe could do, would be to dual-boot with Windows, since they tend to just boot into Windows every time a problem occurs, rather than learning Linux, and learning how to solve it(or from my experience anyway).

we'll linux is good for gaming when games are made for it. id software makes linux for windows and linux te linux version usually runs alot better dude to the fact that OpenGL runs better than Direct X but most games are made for windows although you can run games through WINE that ae ade for windows they usually play better on windows because they are made for it.

well it all depends on the company Adobe hates linux because they'd rather stick to the same programming tools they have used for years. but i do know if you wanted to make pps multiplat its easy on linux because most linu programming tools write in all these formats cocoa (mac) Win32 (windows) and linux & BSD programming languages
