Why make shorts at all. If you have enough for a short, you have enough for a feature. It only takes more editing and more condensing and more omitions to make a short. And who would pay to see a short? Screenwriters and editors face their biggest challenge by have to chop up their work to the point that one doesn't even know what the movie is about. In other words, you have to take more short cuts to make a short than you would have to make a feature.
