Weckl is one of those legends where you hear from every so often. Tony Royster is like an all star. He's in the modern. It just depends on what age you believe in. Personally, I believe in modern, not vintage. So in somewhat way I think this guy is great compared to Dave Weckl. I mean, this guy's hand coordination is awesome, and his timing not bad. Plus, he's great at doing that wicked S**T, so like I said it depends.
Great groove BTW, I love this guy. He's going to be a modern legend.
Great technique... AWFUL MUSIC...Sounds like 70`s elevator music. Am I the only one thinking that way? Or there are a lot of you out there that actually enjoy listenting to that type of music with crazy drum solos?
Yea, this music is GARBAGE. I, personally, want to hear more of Tony interacting with a live band so we can hear him as not just a great drummer but a great musician.
The music might be lame but it's more than adequate to showcase Tony's ability to groove. This guy can play to anything so his status as a musician is fairly secure. Check out Tony's DVD "Pure Energy" and you'll be humbled.
metalguy until u post a video of u doin better u cant talk n judgin by ur name y r u listenin to tony royster when ud probably prefer joey jordison or lars or someone. there different styles of music and until you understand that you cant truely like drumming
there is a connectin between williams and royster actually because royster did a solo dedicated to him when he was 12!!!! also royster says on his dvd he met him right before he passed away!!! RIP williams from every drummer in the world!!!
That's pretty wild. I've been listening to Tony Williams for 30 years. He was so incredibly talented and anyone who hasn't heard his stuff is really missing out. I hope Tony Royster's career follows a similar path as Tony Williams played with some of the best musicians of his day.
tony could make justin beiber sound good.

Please don't ever compare him to to Weckl. I mean he's good and all but Weckl is on a whole different level with almost perfect timing.
