  • If you still have a faint image, then the problem is in the Z sustain. Also the buffer boards can easily fail, and when they do they usually take out the y sustain as well. If there is no power at all, start with the power supply. These are solutions for plasma only. If you had a LCD tv, those contain florescent backlights to light the screen, possibly you made the mistake to look for one in a plasma, but they are not there. :)

  • The reason you can't find it is because there is no such thing. Plasma tv's have a honeycomb of minute cells sandwiched between the two sheets of glass. There is neon and xenon gases charged into the cells and when charged with electricity they form a plasma gas. The plasma screen itself is highly complex, and is not repairable. Most of the time when the plasma tv fails, it is due to the Y-sustain board, such as a "has sound, no image" symptom.

  • DO not buy LG nor Zenith....I don't know about now, but Samsung Plasmas had the same problems pre2007, I just bought my self a panasonic plasma when my 2005 Zenith "popped" and picture went dim/dark..What had happened is that one of those computer boards on the back shorted out, Usually its the Y sustain board $150.00 but the repairs just on parts alone can go up to $500 on just parts, if your just replacing boards using trial and error....If you don't want to deal with the hassle buy a new one

  • a) I've read on Amazon that this tv is....rather poor. When it works, it is a solid tv. But the shelf-life can be super short. I've read that many last several months to just under two years. The fact that this tv lasted over 4 years is pretty remarkable.

    b) So get it if you think it will last you 3 or 4 years. It is pretty cheap nowadays. In 2005, it would cost you $2000+.
