Well, if you want everybody to know about you being on your period, then that's up to you. I grew up in a different time when we, as women, were more personal about our bodies than women are today. Guess youwould take your make-up out of your purse to fix it too. What ever, I find it offensive and sorry for those of you who think it's acceptible to advertise something soo personal. It's nothing to be ashamed of, it's nature doing it's job, but it's something PERSONAL with us ond our bodies.
@mrsjcc0312 I don't want everyone to know that I am on my period either, that is why I don't tell them. Why must it be one extreme or another? I simply and silently grab a pad or tampon and slide it into my pocket. It's nobody's business but my own. I am sorry that you find it to be offensive. Personally, I'm offended that someone would imply that I need to inconvenience myself on their behalf. It's preposterous. I am private with my body as I too grew up in a time where privacy was encouraged.
@WaryHermit EXACTLY! Now its shameful to want to keep things private? Should I announce to everyone when I need to go take a dump? Should guys announce hidden boners? COME ON people. I agree, its not shame, its privacy.
I've always been rather embarrassed by my period, but now that I'm older (only 21, but you know) I've been rethinking a lot about the things society tells me to be "ashamed" about. It's all very silly. There's nothing embarrassing about it at all! I was so happy when I saw this commercial. I hope it gets through to people and helps them realize how completely normal and natural a period is. You don't have to flaunt it, but there's absolutely no reason you should be embarrassed. None whatsoever.
@Luffansmom Marketing & advertising has been used for years to make us feel ashamed of our periods. That magic blue gel they put on to pads to demonstrate absorbency is itself saying blood from our periods shouldn't be seen or shown. Besides advertising, both the Torah and the Bible tell women that their menstrual cycle is dirty and shameful. I was actually pleasantly surprised that there's a commercial addressing this shame- even if it's half-assed and just a ploy to make a profit.
This commercial is ridiculous. Why are we so embarrassed about our periods...really?? Here's a clue, because it's something PRIVATE that happens, between us and our bodies!! DUH!! If this is their attitude, then why not post a commercial about men with morning stiffy's? Women carry their purses to the bathroom all the time: 1- so they can fix their makeup and 2-so they don't get stolen, and with a purse THAT big, it's kinda hard to hide it. Get a freaking clue Kotex!!
@mrsjcc0312 There is an *enormous* difference between flaunting your tampon around and not being too embarrassed to grab it out of your purse, stick it in your pocket, and walk to the bathroom. Yes, it's a private thing, but not an unnatural/embarrassing thing I'm willing to inconvenience myself over on some one else's behalf.. I'm not walking down the isle shouting, "Excuse me! Woman on her period coming through!" I am casually grabbing a necessity out of my bag, and walking to the bathroom.
@WaryHermit Unless you are using horse sized tampons, I dont see how anyone is going to see you take it out anyway. People are confusing embarrassment with privacy.
This commercial makes me so angry. Really why are guys so embarrassed by surprised boners? Guys get surprise boners, thats life. Get over it. Let everyone know! No shame! No more embarrassment! Flaunt those bleeding vaginas and surprise boners!
@MinaMcKay Just because I am not too embarrassed about my period to silently grab a tampon out of my purse and walk to the bathroom without carrying the whole thing with me, does not mean I am flaunting my bleeding vagina around. ;)
@WaryHermit Oh I think you misunderstood me, I was being sarcastic. I too prefer to be PRIVATE about my period. It doesnt mean Im "ashamed" or "embarrassed".
What is the name of the girl in the video? I really want to know. She is beautiful! When I saw this video, it was like love at first sight. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks - Love struck stalker guy.

Shame? Since when has it been shameful to have your period? Poor choice of words, Kotex, especially from a company geared towards women.

@Luffansmom The idea behind this ad is to question why we feel shame around our periods. The Kotex mission is to Break the Cycle of period shame!
