The only way to find world peace is to first find inner peace. Inner peace means not being judgmental, only seeing the good in people, loving without reciprocation, helping people, caring about the world and the poor, the downtrodden, and the displaced.

You could create a utopian government , yet it would eventually become corrupt because people will still be people, unless they can change themselves from the inside out. Than it would not matter where they were because they'd be at peace.

@doof2008 You are right; doing it for the sake of respect is still ego-based. But then everything is always done for the sake of the Self. I found that the "selfish" act of creating permanent inner freedom from negative thoughts and emotions--independently from and without trying to change anything that seemed to be causing them--produces the most powerful and quickest shift in consciousness resulting in love and giving.

religions slow down changes in society, slow down progress of mankind. christianity causes aids to spread in certain areas in africa, islam causes people to do suicide bombings. all the love that goes to a god that doesnt even exist could be given to people.

I agree with freesk8. What this person is suggesting is that we tackle our desires and ego by giving to others. By becoming kinder to other people so that we fit into society.
