@0LuckyInternetUser0 you are probably one of these American Ignorant who knew nothing about the world, in fact you question make me really nervous....the official language of this region is only French, nobody speak german as their native language.in Alsace.. 100% people who lives there can obviously speak French !
@minhounou it does not mean he/she is ignorant, its just because it borders germany one may think that the language crosses over. yes everyone in alsace speaks french but there is some german dialect.

Mais avec ma famille & mes amis, je prefère l'Elsässsich, c'est claire.

My Grandmother's (R.I.P) family is from Alsace, and when her family immigrated to this country (U.S.A.), spoke Old German.

Everybody speaks french,they are just in
the german border north east france.
most people living in Alsace gets their last
name that sound german,included me.
my ancestors are from Alsace,that's what I am
told.
