  • So, in the case of this video, 281 c.i. vs. 350 c.i. is slightly smaller? Or even 351 c.i. vs. 434 c.i.? In each case we see a clear 50 c.i. displacement advantage.

  • Its really hard to compare 2 different motors with 2 very different setups, and say one of them is pile of crap and praise another, especially If one doesn't even know about its design, its a matter of preference.

    This guys WS6 was obliviously racing a 03/04 cobra, probably close to stock but still, and with his cammed LS1 with cutouts, that's damn near close to wide open headers, so your not going to hear that cobra's stock eaton, not going to happen. but I love both of this cars regardless.

  • Why does everybody keep on mentioning 02 cobras? There is no such thing, ford stopped production that year to prepare for the termi...anyhow I used to own a heads and cam 02 mustang gt and now I own a 02 ws6 on bolt ons and couldn't be happier....GM all day!

For the $ spent on getting those cars to those times, i can get a 351w block and stroke it, 3V triton heads, die grinder, welder, bearings, valve springs, sheet metal, and a 4sp. In the future take a look @ an 89-02 Essex engine block and some 89-95 SHO HEADS, GN nightmare. OHC's have more potential, period. Its 2011 and the VETTE just started turnin 7k rpm STOCK.   • @Speedmccool385bitch I wonder why the fastest Fords in the country go with the old pushrod motors. I seen one modular Ford run a 7 in the quarter, pretty sad. There are LS powered cars running 6's and there are Buick V6's running mid 6's with less displacement, fare less valves and two less cylinders. And lets not get started on the 5 second doorslammer chevys that run gasoline and twin turbos. And you need multiple valves, multiple cams, and a supercharger just to hang with an LS powered car.

  • I love WS-6's but the fucking haters really make me hate half the owners. I Have a ton of respect for the LS series engines (especially since they dont puke coolant into the oil after 50k like the LT series) but for anyone to not think that little 4.6 4v isnt a nasty engine either has no idea what it is truely capable of or just is to ignorant to believe a engine that size will stock support 700hp all day. either way both nice cars.

  • @SuRihtanil Ummm...did you not read the description?...The WS-6 had a intake,cam,and full exhaust with dumps. the cobra had catback and a CAI....Lets start with the fact a WS-6 and the cobra are almost the same price and stock and stock a 03-04 cobra ran 12.5-12.7's and stock WS-6's ran 12.7-12.9's stock...so to say it cant hang with a car that has those things and all it would take is a smaller pulley and that would be a much closer race let alone bolt ons such as the firebird.

  • @SuRihtanil I agree at this race the cobra lost. no biggie..but that eaton is a pile of crap compared to the Kenne belle or the whipplechargers that people that want good numbers from that engine use. and apples to apples the cobra didnt have as many mods that would support engine gains. hell the CAI and catback probably didnt give him as much as the WS-6's cam. honestly the cobra would have been better off with a tune and a pulley. a race is a race..all comes down to who modded better.

That part is a very weak argument/excuse for this loss. The cobra has a damn blower. Regardless of what company made it, it still has forced induction while the trans am is still n/a. Had the t/a been blown like the cobra is a blown version of a mustang, and had they both been stock minus the blowers, the t/a would still whip some ass.

  • @willymywonka A cammed ls1 does not destroy terminators. My 01 cobra was dead even with a 01 ws6 0-140. A cam does not make up for a blower.

  • @GoFoMoCo good lord really guy? there are plenty of stock head/cam only LS1's making over 400 rwhp. my cam only LT1 makes 37x/37x to the wheels. Is your "cobra" stock? was the ws6 an auto?

  • @GoFoMoCo it was a stock ws6, 6 speed. and i have a few mods on my car. don't get me wrong, a bolt on ls1 beats my car if it has a good driver, but rarely do you see 03/04 cobras losing to them.

  • @GoFoMoCo Yeah, though you can make pretty decent power on an LS1 with bolt on's, a cam, and some other goodies, when it comes to potential, they just aren't as good as the Cobra's engine is from the factory. Though with some serious money you could build the LS1 block up and do some pretty impressive stuff. But the Termi's engine is just incredible.

  • @dodge69874 Exactly, with some serious money you can make anything fast. But with the terminator its ready to go out of the box. You can make 550whp with about $600 worth of mods, pulley, ported blower, and a tune. You never have to touch the internals, only upgrade induction.

  • @SikassWS6 Or forged internals and other components which make the Termi's so freaking awesome. I believe the stock block on those Cobra's is good for 600 hp without having to worry about damaging anything, but they you can still put out a lot more power on the stock block if you are willing to risk it.

  • @jcmknl2005 apparently you don't know quote as much as you think you do. Stock cobras superchargers aren't that loud at all. Also no one as taken int'l consideration the ws6 is the lighter of the two cars.

  • I love both the LS1 Camaros and Firebirds but I also respect any Mustang GT, Cobra, Shelby GT. Any mustang without a V6 really. What you have to take into consideration is that the Mustang hold it's own until they both hit 4th gear. At that point the Stang only has 1 gear left whereas the LS1 has 2.

And i dont own fast cars anymore either . The only thing i have that is pretty quick is my 08 ninja. Maybe a new 2012 Mustang 5.0 when im done paying for my daughtrs schooling. But to be honest, when GM produces a 5.0 (302 cubic inch) motor like Ford does (its still Ford ALL day long) Im just saying that a stock zo6 is sick, and fast as Fuck!! I do bleed Ford Blue ;-)

Heads/cam and bolt on LS1s run low 12s to high 11s with DRs and a good driver. Stock Terminators with simple boltons run mid to low 12s! Period. Learn your shit dude. Those stats alone back him up! LS1s with straight cut outs are loud as hell! I own one! And stock Terminators with the stock Eaton don't make that much noise! I have driven stock Termis!

  • @AdrenalineJunky17 well mr.genius why do all the stock camaros that go to my track only run mid to high 13 with a good driver. Yeah u have a good high compression engine no doubt, but u can only run so much boost thru it stock. theres no way u can go up to five 500 unless u run a turbo thru it, less stress on the block. To reach it on motor alone u have to bore out the block and even put a higher compresion on it with a heavy cam, ls1 wont do it alone with just head and cam.

  • @Sickassfords The quickest 1/4 for a stock LS1 Camaro 6 speed is a 12.6! Look it up. I ran a 12.9 in mine! And I have personally built and driven 500RWHP LS1 Camaros on stock bottom end and stock bore which are still running the track and still driving with no problems to this day! My friend Josh has a LS with a Maggy supercharger only running 7psi and Has 550RWHP! My friend Daniel has a LS1 5.7 GTO and he has Heads/Cam and Nitrous on stock bottom end and he's running over 600RWHP!

  • @Sickassfords And the reason the ones your seeing only run 13s is because they are not good drivers(You ford fans pull this all the time when I say I keep up with Terminators so I going to pull it out here!) at all and they are probably running auto trannys which kill horsepower from the crank to the wheels! The only thing done to my car when I ran a 12.9 was a hurst short shifter! Everything else was stock!

All its takes is a bad tune to blow ur engine also, ur friends must know a real good tuner. the thing that ppl like about the cobras is that u dont have to tear the engine apart to make it faster, just a few bolt ons.

  • @Sickassfords Because he probably had a small more streetable Heads/cam setup and didn't want to go to far with it! He's probably running somewhere around 400-420RWHP, I'm just saying that it is possible with a good setup to run 500! And also, we do our own tuning! First we do what we want to do, I have HPtuners, we use it to do a base tune and then we drive to Little Rock and we have a friend that owns a shop that has a dyno and he lets us use it, we just pay 100 per car and we have it all day!

  • @Sickassfords And a bad tune to blow the engine goes with any engine. I have seen Terminators come apart just as many times(if not more) as I have seen LS motors come apart! I have seen way more regular 4.6s(non-forged) come apart than stock internal LSs! And you don't HAVE to tear the motor apart on LS motors either! I have seen stock internal LS engines run 500+RWHP with just a supercharger(Josh which I mentioned earlier)! It's just a choice of what you want to spend your time and money on.

  • @Sickassfords Btw, to reach 500RWHP with a terminator with just, intake, exhaust and supercharger(stock internals) you would have to run at least 15-17 PSI! I could run 7PSI with a Maggy on my LS1 and run 500 easy! OR I could just buy a really good heads/cam setup with a good exhaust and intake system and some major tuning and still run 500RWHP! Terminators are over rated when it come to comparing potential to potential from the 4.6 to LS series!!

The boats need all the power they can get... the 03-04 cobra was in deed one of the best cards put out from a stock standpoint by ford.   • 03/04 cobras with a cold air intake WITHOUT a tune, is STUPID, i put down 463 rwhp and i have SMOKED ls1's and ls's all day with bolt ons and tunes.

    i have beat numberous GT0's, 5.7, and 6.0, and i have beat ws6's, and i weigh about 150 lbs more than a 03/04.

    a properly tuned 03/04 cobra with CAI/Exhaust, is a high 11 second car, the ws-6 bone stock runs in the mid to low 13's., there is no way a ws-6 with just bolt ons is running 11's.

    this is all factual information by the way.

  • I have both an 01 WS6 and a 03 Cobra. A cammed WS6 will beat a Cobra with minor bolt ons. With a cam, full exhaust, lid, and 3500 stall I'm pulling 11.4 and my pullied Cobra is pulling 11.2. Both are great cars and to bash one or the other is just so funny. Both are the best looking modern day muscle cars and both are the best bang for your buck in performance.

  • really need to put this gm ford bullshit aside, if you like to drive a cobra... drive a cobra.. if you like to drive a gm (ws6 ls1 w/e) drive that, its about how much one dumbs x amount of money into, if i took a stock cobra and got beat by a ws6 that had 5+ grand into i wouldnt really worry about it...

If a Mustang has a supercharger that's because Ford engineers designed a car with better internals than just keep making a car with a bigger and bigger engines. That's having no brains. There is replacement for displacement and its called better engineering.

  • @trevinboy haha correction there is no replacement for displacement and as for your engineering theory that supercharged 4.6 weighs more and is alot larger than the naturally aspirated 5.7 in the ws6 :) so you get more displacement in a lighter more compact setup.

  • @yfzfofitty06  bigger engines dont win races these days. we have computers and better technology that works around it. GM's theory only really became true back in the late 60's when things were much simpler.

  • @cbra66 I call bullshit. A built LS1 (like the one in this video) will beat a STOCK 03 cobra any day. Unless you put a shitty driver behind the wheel which is probably why you beat him.

  • 03-04 cobra best mustang ever built IMO hands down. the new gt's are respectable. I dont know why its soo easy for Chevy fans to give credit to the cobra where credit is due yet the cobra fans all seem to think the LS1 is shit. A. the car is lighter B. yes its 5.7L engine compared to 4.6L but the 5.7 is a hell of alot smaller in overall weight and size than that 4.6 not to mention naturally aspirated C. LS1 head/cam bolt ons is a very good force to be wreckoned with. end of story
