I am thinking of going here for a week or so but wanted to know how is general cost of things (food/drinks) compared to Phuket? I heard quite a few say it's cheaper as it's a bit quieter.
Adam2987: The video was shot in December 2006 (and edited later) so it was after the tsunami. Yeah the raised buildings on stilts were at the Ao Nang beach, near the main street and all the restaurants, tailors etc. What is there now?
im going there for my first proper holiday this summer! without parents that is- very excited! From what iv heard sounds like you couldnt have chose a better place for somewhere to get married!!!

oops sorry forgot to mention the tailors. They were a pain. We stay at the Krabi Thai Village. Just returned from 3 weeks in Oz. It was lovely but not as lovely as Ao Nang.

Ao nang and Krabi is destroyed by tourists and the prices are at least 3 times more expensive then on other non-tourist places in Thailand.
If you want to experience Scandinavia go to Ao Nang and Krabi.... But if you want to experience Thailand stay away from this area.....
Everybody rips you off, beaches are crowded and filthy on mainland and prices are like in Germany or on some places same as in Sweden.

My family live out there, have visited many times and its such a fantastic place. Check out the Irish Rover,best pint of Guinness in all of Asia =)

I was there in November 2008. Best holiday of my life. Stayed for two weeks. Recommend everyone to go. People are lovely. Food fantastic.

Just got back home. LOVED it. People were soo friendly. Only thing that bugged me was the god damn indian tailors pesting me.
I really liked the small town feeling. I hope it doesnt grow too much, and becomes yet another tourist machine.

WOW....going to Phuket, Phi Phi, and Ao Nang nov 2009 .....2 weeks. After that 2 weeks to the Philippines.........it`s my summer vacation !!!!!!!
