  • Nice, I can barely afford to feed myself, but luckily my tax money goes to a full-time staff of pastry chefs for the whitehouse!

  • That's alsome wish I was that talented

  • I could eat that relly fast but not get away because I would be way to fat.

  • our tax dollars hard at work. i wonder what would happen if the president was forced to live just like the average household.

  • dumwall=go read thru "Western Journalism" web page's article entitled "The Mystery Of Barack Obasma Contines" ...shows the badly faked up Selective Service Card! The multiple missing files Odumbas handlers have stolen. And the Numerous SS#'s O'BlahBlah has used? (his gammie "Dunham" volunteered for Oahu District Probate Court and had access to deceased persons number!) = AHA! MOMENT! ...(and the one owebummer uses now? from an 1890's DEAD MAN?) = lol! .. only DIM dunces believe this fool) ~hmm

  • mmm :)

  • Yummy! ^_^

  • Little marzipan vegetable garden?! Too cute!

  • I am impress. This is love of labor and is so artistic... feel bad for having to eat ... but if they need help :-) ....I will volunteer.

  • ..could they just VARATHANE ...... this one and save us the EXPENSE ........for the next 3 years!............just put this thing in the DEEP FREEZE and show us that ZIP=LOCK can do anything and that the bag only costs a few bucks!.......... think of the "world being ruined"(lol) by all the electricity used to cook all this cookie dough and the lights on day and night to BUILD this dumb thing!....... it could be BALSA!......... and no one would know or care!.......seeeeshhh

  • and they placed it in front of our FIRST "commie xmas tree with MAO ZEDONG "ornament" that the owebummers had their commie peep decorator put onto the TREE!..........so its our First commie american xmas?.........(you could not make this stuff up - its truly frightening how obvious these people are and what their agenda is all about!) merry commie holiday ~ mao! (the reason for the season trees "ornament" MISSING in action)

  • This administration certainly does connect with the people. what a great Christmas idea, but of course some people will have negative comments.

  • seriously people, this thing costs almost nothing next to those multi-billion dollar airplanes we've been building since bush senior's administration. If you really want to argue for fiscal responsibility, do it on something with more substance.

  • did enay one eat it

  • AMAZING but is this where my tax dollars goes to ???? :):)

  • dumb

  • Wow! I want some...

  • Wow. Very impressive i have to say. But were they planning on eating that thing? Looks like they intended it to be a permanent display. Well, if I worked in the White House, I'd definately try and break a little piece off to eat and see if anyone notices it. hehe

  • I think this was an excellent way of connecting fun with the people. Every nation needs some light hearted fun especially whilst we are still in the grips of a financial crisis. I only wish that they would post a peace for me in the United Kingdom. Sadly in the UK our PM never includes this amount of fun and freedom. Just so good to see and brings the american heart to many people around the world. Lets hope the UK follows your lead!!!!!!

  • so.....

  • share?

  • that looks like fun.

  • cool!

  • Who's gonna eat that? I want!

  • what a friggin waste of money.

  • i think you are just jealous.

  • no gingerbread for you

  • i just wanna bite through one of those pillars! ;-)

  • George W Bush's Whitehouse has left a bad taste in American people's mouths for long time.

I hope Obama Whitehouse will leave a good taste in American people's lives.....as good as the Gingerbread Whitehouse.

  • Our tax dollars at work! Bah humbug!

  • murdering innocent iraqis was our tax dollars at work.

  • Ya know to all the people complain about the lack of transparency. I think this might be a case on going a bit overboard. Honestly in all my years in looking at politics I've never had such an easy time seeing videos or reading articles or bills from both the Executive Branch or the Legislative Branch.

Also that house looks yummy enough to start a revolution. I say we go 1812 on it and burn it down with our teeth!

  • I've decided. The White House Kitchen is the best place to work.

And to all the haters out there. The people in the Kitchen aren't making public policy, so stop complaining about how the WH doesn't have their priorities in order.

  • Ok whitehouse, I've got a bit of a problem with this. Surely tradition is important, but I've had to forgo a LOT of holiday traditions this year because my husband was laid off - again. His only recent hire was for minimum wage. No benefits! Screw your gingerbread house with electricity! What is this? "Let them eat cake?" I'm so glad life is good for you. Now get the rest of the country on track! These are OUR tax dollars! What are you doing?!? I'm frustrated to tears with this video! Literally.

  • @faething = and to think that the "budget" for the Obamas also costs us all OVER 2 Million a year for Mitchie to have "hair and makeup and a "dresser"........(thats NOT the cost of the dresses) ..... and that would be over 8 MM by the time shes and those BIG boxes of makeup and weaves and dresses and designer shoes are going to get BOOTED out of The White House!......... how much do you think these people billed THE TAX PAYERS for that "cake"....????...& then we pay their PENSIONS & CadillacCARE

  • I fully sympathise,I even stated this argument in a previous reply, but I was told to lighten up. What do you think?

  • "Lighten up" is hard to do right now.

I currently live my life trying to keep my chin up in the face of financial difficulties that my husband and I did nothing to deserve. I try keep it light in our house when things are tough. I really do try to stay positive.

But this is OUR money - OUR taxes! I'm having the hardest time lightening up with this particular gingerbread house when we've tried so hard to find jobs, and we have almost no money.

I feel that this is an appropriate reaction.

  • awesome ginger bread house

  • meanwhile, we have 10% unemployment. Nice to see the White House has their priorities in order.

  • @MEMAMA2

Don't hate the commies. You gotta admit that Putin is a pretty cool guy!

  • @prophallus = go picket his house!....see "how cool he is" = lol!

  • He's a bit far.

  • @prophallus = catch a ride with baama or Al Gore in their non eco JETS~~ "share the ride"....lol!........guess obama and his wife took seperate jets to try to get their Chicago Grifters "THE GAMES"....and that carbon BIGfoot print Mitchie formed by taking TWO JETS?....appears to have slipped the minds of all the eco nazi liberal media like ~MSLSD!.... they were too busy forming new videos trying to blame the current mess on "racism" or "bush" or BOTH to keep DIMdrones from looking at owebummer ~

  • ...."where's The DIMS & COMMIES ALLOWED ONLY!" sign? (at the back door?...on a little sugar post?)

  • ...go to "DarcPrynce" videos ......to see new Christmas video: Little Douchebag Boy (Barack Obama) .......we are all sick of the lies and forced onto us WRONGLY by this = Crap Care Obama BILL.......get in the anti-Obama Spirit with this ~sing-a-long~

  • The guy says the best part is the people's reaction. Not all people are impressed with wasteful spending my friend.

  • @prophallus

Past presidents have done it as well, but I guess it's only ok to you if the president is a white, Christian, gay-hating, republician.

  • @FutureWDI

I dont think its ok for any president to be throwing money around like this. I like Obama, but I think that this expense could have been lowered. And no, I am not a Christian, gay hating, republican!

  • @prophallus = did you know that Mitchie Obama SPENDS OVER = 2 Million for her hair and makeup artists and someone to be her "dresser".....(thats not the cost of the Italian and French dresses!) ...and you say: "is it possible to spend over 2MM a year for some makeup and hair combing our first Elitist Lady DEMANDS? Answer: WEE WEE!) ....and so it goes for the rest of us = expecting a really BIG TAX increase going higher and higher ~~ while Obama keeps making up liberal magic math of ITS ALL FREE!

  • Health care bill I support. Extravagant gingerbread white house I dont support! 2 million on dresses and makeup I dont support. That goes for all the previous first ladies as well.

  • @prophallus = THE DRESSES!........thats a whole seperate BILL!....... the 2MM is ONLY "for hair and makeup and a person to STUFF her into the dresses!" ........those French jackets and Pear-EE shoes and slacks = MANY MORE BIG BUCK$......we are all paying for!........and she brings out 3 small bags of toys? (Obama Budget goes to IMPORTANT STUFF!) that does not include toys~

  • It seems that everything this White House does is sophisticated and urbane. As an American I am proud to finally have a First Family that is dignified, smart, and classy.

  • truly awesome !!!

  • i wanna eat that :)

  • Beauty is in the detail....nice work

  • yummm....

  • Culinary Arts = Art of Cooking

  • Comment removed

  • This is art

  • ha! this is awesome. i hope they show more behind the scenes in the WH kitchen.

  • I hope they make a replica of this. I would love to purchase one next xmas. Not as big as the one in the white house of course. I can imagine being a white house visitor and seeing this in person. Just stunning. Actually I think this one is prettier than the ones of the past.

  • Look at this nice heat i started; left vs. rights, step right up, one at a time now.

Lets see what happens... BUSH SUCKS! republicans are one sided fags who fucked our nation! (lemme see the rage i get from this, baby)

  • ....... I bet this crap cost Taxpayers, the price of a real house.

  • Perhaps others have already pointed this out, but "chef" is misspelled at 0:25. Please fix it.

  • Looks yummy. What would happen if I said I wanted to EAT the white house? haha.

  • in a failing economy, you wouldnt think our tax dollars woud go to a freaking ginger bread house like that. makes you wonder what else theyre waisting money on.

  • @redspade04: You make me laugh

  • Beautiful Art! I Love It!

  • far from it,see my previous reply.

A good source of education is also provided by the government, pell grants. You should look into it.

Expound on your relatively low vocabulary.Derrogatory remarks, lack of venacular. I recommend a good course study in language arts.

That's a better use of the money.

  • ohh yeah,I forgot, they cut funding for those programs too. Sorry you may have to continue being an idiot.

  • Not quite,it was started about 20 years before the Reagan's were in the white house.Try pulling your head out of that ass you're talking about.

  • Art of Cooking!

  • Hey !!!!

    Food?

    xD

  • It's for the good of Christmas... They did it last year too when the Republicans were in office... and how much could that thing have cost? 500 dollars? thats 0.0000000001 for each person if we used our tax dollars. Maybe you can't afford that, i don't know

  • How is making an extravagant cake like that "for the good of Christmas"? It's nice and all, but I'm fairly certain the price tag is much higher than $500. $500 PER HOUR would probably be a low estimate.

  • Regardless of whether or not its tradition and Bush did it, Obama is all about change. They could have still kept up with the tradition, but a simpler and less expensive cake would be more appropriate considering these economic times.

  • Nice try, troll.

  • lol what's a cehf?

  • Hate to think if all that went to waste. Somebody better eat the damn thing.

  • Do you guys put Eugenic chemicals in the gingerbread?

  • @Johnytheowl

    Always!

  • "Head pastry Cehf"... spelling fail!

  • Stupid site doesn't honor The Constitution because it censors people by not having channel comments.

  • The constitution doesn't apply here. YouTube is a private company: They can censor comments if they want.

  • @RememberIronhorse

    Just got pwned =p

  • DAMN thats awesome! too bad people have to be cuntbags and try to make this into something bad.

who gets to eat it >.>

  • Question:

Can you eat it? Or will it just get tossed in the trash after the holidays?

  • @AfricanMadman

I think they should break it up into little pieces, and donate it to schools and shelters!

  • PUPPIES!!!!!!! FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

    Sooo cute! And they TAAAAAALLK!!!!!!

    -DeckTheBowls

  • Oh god! look at all that effort and time these poor white house chefs are putting just into some gingerbread which shapes white house it could have been something big and better with a normal shape..!

  • "However, the White House tradition only began in 1969 when the first gingerbread White House, a simple A-frame rather than the intricate replica of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, was constructed with 16 pounds of gingerbread and six pounds of icing." - Thats the first one!

This new one is 400 pounds.... a little bit much dont you think?

  • I am curious as to how much was spent to create that.Time,material,etc. I'm certain the money could be put to better use somewhere else. Doesn't Obama continue reciting they have spent countless hours going through the budget and cutting down unnecessary expenses.

AHEMMM, uhhh they seem to have missed 1

  • Something tells me this wasn't made with your tax dollars, and even if it was, it'd cost less than a cent per person, so cool your jets.

  • I want to come to your house for Christmas. You sound like a LOT of fun.

  • @soldieroffortune1974

Exactly! If Obama speaks about wasteful spending, whats up with this?

  • its a traditon, every president does it!

  • @Harpoopyfangrl

Yes, we have established it. We have also established that its been getting more and more extravagant and costly every year!

There have been other traditions that have been cut, in terms of programs that no longer work. This could have been one of them.

  • this is my oppinion but is it not ok to have a little fun some times?

plus its not like they could have scooped the country out of the depresion with the money they spent on a house made out of candy right?

  • @gabrielthemexican

With a 10% unemployment rate, I dont think it is the time to have fun and have an extravagant gingerbread house. A simpler one would do.

This does not boost morale, only makes the unemployed and the hurting more angry and resentful.

  • but how much can you realy do with the relatively small amount of money spent on this?

    lighten up

    happy holidays =)

  • small amount of money? what do you consider a "small amount of money"? I will get the approximate figures, but I am willing to bet that half of the homeless population in DC,could have been fed for a week, from the "small amount of money" that was spent making that cake. Lighten up? hmmmm I'm willing to bet that underfunded child abuse programs could have made good use of that "small amount of money". Lighten up? If that cost less than 100,000 I would be truly surprised.Hell call a bakery

  • If having fun came from the pockets of the people having the fun, then no. It may seem like nothing to some people, but those people who live a hand to mouth existence, who don't have the money to buy food, you know the ones who lost their house, laid off from work, subsist on unemployment (where the funding was cut) it may seem like a much larger deal to them. I'm not sure, but shouldn't the little things be taken care of (along with the people) before these types of things are done?

  • no. lighten up.

  • wow. Nice!!!

  • wow that is so cool I bet that took forever to make

  • send me a piece

  • (intensively drooling) Makes me crave cookies!

  • As much as the pastry chef needs a job, I dont think that this extravagant gingerbread house is an example of appropriately spent funds during these tough economic times. The money could better be spent on fixing some potholes....

    Not impressed!

  • sure thing mr grinch

  • its just a gingerbread house dude

  • There are a number of people involved in this, it is one expensive house. All I am saying is that the money could have been better spent!

  • lol course it is but going to mcdonalds is a very bad way to spend money ppl still do it

  • Chefs to make it. But what else is involved? The baking supplies had to come from somewhere and be shipped too. This wasn't a million dollar effort, and it's a tradition already being done in the White House. So the spending isn't something new to get outraged at.

  • MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • Best Gingerbread house ever

  • to the person in charge of editing this vid, you miss spelled chef you spelled it cehf when introducing Bill Yosses

  • And you misspelled 'misspelled'

  • wow, a million dollar gingerbread house for the illuminatti that already has a full belly... cocksuckers.

  • HOLY FUCK WILL YOU FUCKING CONSPIRACY NUTS FUCK OFF ALL READY!!! god

  • Now, for a comment that's related to this video... How much did this gingerbread house cost the taxpayers? How many people starving on the streets of DC could have been fed instead of this extravagant waste of money?

  • about 3 or 4...you'd be surprised what's done on the cheap

  • ???

  • oh grow up...

    It's a cake.

Go feed the homeless your birthday cake, and while your at it give them your thanksgiving turkey and Christmas lunch and dinner, you don't need it after all.

As for me, this is awesome! Cool of the chefs to do this every year.

  • I'll say it again, repeated just for you:

First, the funds have been allocated for this because it's a standing tradition in the White House. This isn't new.

Second, chefs were paid to make it. People were paid to make and pack the supplies used. People were paid to ship the supplies to the White House.

Believe it or not, it isn't a grand atrocity.

  • I don't CARE if it's a standing tradition. When the nation is this deep in debt and unemployment it simply does not make sense. In times of plenty, fine. But in times like these, it's a travesty.

  • Hey, Chefs need jobs too.

  • lol i get it

  • i want it !

  • I don't give a flying F**K about these happy feely crap vids meant to make us feel all warm inside about this farce of a government. I DO care about the fact that this admin has shredded the constitution and our bill of rights. Banker bailouts, more troops, mandatory health insurance. Wake up and smell the fascism.

  • You do realize that this tradition started way before Obama right? This administration is just actually being more transparent than past ones and showing us more of what goes on at the White House. Or do you even care...you just want one more illogical reason to hate him?

  • @hoff100

You misunderstand me, I like Obama, I just think that this is a waste of money. And yes, I realize that it is something that it is a tradition for a few presidencies now. I saw the Oprah Christmas Special. In any case, with each presidency, there seems to be the trend to made the gingerbread house more and more extravagant. Part of Obama's message has been to cut wasteful spending. This particular house doesn't show humility, only extravagance. A simpler one would do!

  • @prophallus

My comment wasn't in reply to you but rather to someone who apparently decided to remove their comment because I cant find it here now.

  • Also, do you even know the definition of fascism? I'm guessing not as it has to do more with fighting for corporate interests over the good of the people...something Republicans are famous for and what they and blue dog Democrats reduced the health care bill to in favor of by eliminating the public option.

  • I am WELL AWARE of what constitutes fascism. Mandatory health insurance REEKS of it.

  • That must take some amount of patience

  • when can i eat it?

  • Nice!

  • Om nom nom nom nom!

  • this is AMAZING!!!! yummie :-D

  • cool :O *drooling*

  • so beautiful..thank you president obama for the access to the white house..america and the world loves you!!!!!! keep up the great work.

  • yay! agreed!

  • I looks so good!

  • WOW! Looks too good to eat

  • hahahah thats amazingggg! wow... lmao i want a piece :)! <3

  • At least this year it's proportional. The first time they tried this it was not a very good rendition.

An amazing job performed in one of the smallest darned spaces. The other limiting factor with all WH kitchen creations is the size of the (old) elevator; so things go out in pieces to be constructed on site. Sometimes they put stuff on a cart and wheel it out the double doors and take it all of the way around to the front door (they hate doing that!).

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

  • ..........Yum.

  • Ughhh.

I hope tax dollars didn't pay for this.

  • The Navy Mess budgets and runs the WH kitchen, I think.

  • Wow, how much would you have paid for this gingerbread house? Let's see... .02 cents? Get out of here with that. I'm sure that wth past administrations there have been White House ice structures, and such...where was your complaining then?

  • I was too young to comment on past administrations, I am only commenting on this one because the president was all about cutting wasteful spending.

Don't get me wrong, I think Obama is a great President. He shows that he cares, he understands the needs of the have-nots, I like him. I am just anti this particular expense because its too much, but like I said, the chefs need jobs too! :)

  • I was too...when I just looked up past administrations cakes and such, I ran accross a picture of FDR's President's Ball White House Cake wich was bigger than the gingerbread White house. My point is that no one commented on the extravagant things past administrations spent on things like that. Why wait until Obama gets into office to complain that 'taxpayers are paying for the Obama's date nights", "Christmas trees", "the dog", a garden, and a gingerbread house? lol

  • Exactly. He really didn't spend too much on the Gingerbread house. Besides, its not like anyone else can't do the same thing for under 100 bucks.

  • I could probably replicate the white house on a smaller scale with ingredients from Michael's for about $50. That house probably cost $2000.

  • @AfreeQueen Probably a lot more thank $2000, considering it took many people.

  • I saw only 5 people making that gingerbread White House. One mixing the chocolate, one shaping the chocolate , one making the gingerbread, one cutting the gingerbread and one gluing (with chocolate) peices together.

  • gorgeous work of art.... my kids would love to have me make this...Not...Truly amazing piece of art. What happens to it after??

  • They even did a little painting on the inside? wow! hope these guys won't be too surprised when there's a big bite mark on the side.

  • haha lol nice

  • lol they didnt show bo sitting in front of the house... he was sitting there all cute...lol

  • Is anyone going to eat it? I'd be so tempted to just snap one of the pillars off when noone was looking...

  • I want this job.

  • Yummy....

  • WOW! This is amazing! How long does it last?

  • WoW that is amazing Man I wish Obama was the prime minister for the uk!
