continued... I know that Deckard was not a replicant in the Philip K. Dick novel, because he passes the Void Kompf(sp?) test. But Ridley Scott's use of the basic source material to make the film was only the groundwork. He had a different vision for the film, which I feel is much deeper and philosophical than the book. The novel is more straight forward noir.
The idea that Deckard is a replicant was always implied in the film. ex: Deckard has many old black/white photos(Replicants cling to photos as they do their artificial memories); In the scene where Deckard stands behind Rachel after she's killed Leon, Deckard's eye's glow red, just as a replicants eyes would.; The little model unicorn that Edward James Olmos leaves at Deckard's apartment is a hint that Deckard's unicorn reverie is an implanted memory; etc...
@IAmThePumaMan Actually the origami unicorn didn't mean deckard was a replicant UNTIL Scott put in the unicorn dream in the 92 Directors cut 10 years after the films original release, further proof that Scott has simply added it as an attempt at a twist ending. Its pathetic, and whilst your right the film does not have to go by scotts book as there is many differences, the film does however share a lot of the same thematic complexities and meaning as the book, all ruined if rick is a replicant.
Yeah I think the international version is good, its the one most people get introduced to. It has the flaws of the American Edition, the violence of the Director's Cut.
And then when you watch the Ridley Scott version, you see how different his vision of the film was.
Yeah the workprint is on the fifth disc...I haven't watched it yet, because I heard it's more Deker's a replicant...and for whatever reason that just always ruins the movie for me...I really like the international cut of the film.
best film ever thanks man

I got the standard DVD version of the Final Cut, but is the Blue Ray version much better in visual quality?
