English is not my mother language.

The Psalm 42:1 in the King James Version of the Bible reads:

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

and in the contemporary New International Version it reads:

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

I just fit this line to the Latin.

@cellolove7 Both translations, "pants" or "pantheth" and "longs" or "longeth" are correct. When a deer pants for water the longing to drink is immediate. There is no word that can graphically describe man's immediate longing for his God other than PANT.
