Iam a history buff and I collect recipes through my research I have come accross the oringal doughnut recipe from the salvation army the salvation army has helped in ww1 and ww2,,,I have placed together 3 different notebooks called the kitchens of war,,its what the men ate on the battle fields,,recipes of what the men ate on the battlefields from every war the united states has been in,,,its very instresting,, to see how food rations have changed,,over the many years of war
I remember, when I use to volunteer with the Red Cross, talking to old Vets from WWII and Korea. They were volunteers also... I remember them talking about how good the Salvation Army was to them by going to the front lines where the Red Cross and others would not go.. This said a lot about the SA and left a long lasting impression of this fine group.
