Thank you. I didn't really know what it was or how to use it so I bought a $400 machine on Craigslist. Luckily, I only paid $50. I probably could've bought this for $10.
Second, buy whole bean and grind as you need it. You will taste the difference
Third, let the water sit for no more than 5 minutes (less for smaller ammounts of water) to bring it to about 200. That straight from boil to grinds method over-amplifies the taste.
use coffee in place of water in a chocolate cake recipe once. You'll be blown away. More moist and flavorful
Aw, what a nice sister you are. I was contemplating buying a French press since I don't want to invest in a bulky coffee maker that uses paper filters, but didn't really know how to use one. Totally easy to use. Thanks for the video!
Love the video, wanted to mention the importance of filtered water and fresh ground coffee (burr grinder). Other than that and the things TookDk mentioned I really enjoyed your style and video! cheers.
Cute gal doing a nice simple video on the french press. I'm house sitting and saw this gizmo on the table. I said: Say what?
So I of course went to youtube and voila! I now know what it is! Youtube University is so helpful. BTW sorry she uses sugar. White death indeed. Try Stevia or maple syrup or Agave....just read the book Sugar Blues. You'll never use sugar again if you care about your body.
I love the way you presented this video, heated up the milk, and recycled/fertilized the coffee/tree. Also, it sounds like your sister is retarted, and demanding. She wants this, she wants that!
1. Please dont burn the coffe with boiling water, let the hot water cool for 30-45 sec. 2. Stir the mix of water and coffe gentle with a wooden spoon before pressing.
Thanks, this was great! My beloved peculator died and I had an old French press laying around and I totally forgot how to use it. This was a nice quick and easy lesson. :-) Now digging out the French Press...
Something I'd love to know: why do so many americans faff about with pans etc on stovetops when an electric kettle (which EVERYONE here in Ireland uses) will boil the exact amount of water you need in seconds, with no hassle?
Nice video but a few suggestions. Let the water sit for about 30 seconds after boiling so you don't burn the coffee. Stir the coffee to get a nice foam top before plunging. And always hold onto the handle when plunging so you don't tip the beaker.
Cate is very beautiful to look at. The sound of her voice is also pleasant. So much so that I forgave her when she poured water in that coffee that is at least 20 degrees too hot. Your water should not be hotter than 195 degrees. That means tiny bubbles simmering, not a rolling boil.
thank you for your video! my friend and i were making coffee today from a french press and we didn't know how to use it! lol! I was like "I best we could find a how to video on youtube". our theory on how to use it was way off... you were my morning savior... I needed coffe real bad. 5 stars for you!!!
This was a very helpful video - I like the idea of heating the cream. I'm told it also helps to rinse the french press and the mug with hot tap water.
By the way, if you freeze the grounds before you throw them out in the garden, it gets rid of the smell, which can be pretty gross.
Very nice, I hate coffee but like the girl in the video.......Paula Dean?

Never pour boiling water into the cafetiere, it burns the coffee. Wait about a minute or so after your water boils, then pour in.

@PLongfellow Then why not just use the clever dripper(with stopper so it can steep for as long as you want) ?
