  • Awesome remake of the original tune! Killer to hear it played live, as I have the studio version from the Depeche Mode tribute album. What a great band and yes... I agree with GeorgeWashingtonX in that they were highly an underrated band for their time.

  • I would do anything to get a time machine for this show. Such an amazing performance on everything they played!

  • I first heard of Failure in the early 2000s. Year of the Rabbit opened for A Perfect Circle in 2003, and I had Ken Andrews fever. Failure is incredible wish they would come back

  • greatest cover of a great song!!awesome!!

  • So good. Thanks for posting this!

  • always loved this version! one of the best DM covers for sure!

  • lol the vid won't work.. i am enjoying the silence indeed...

  • i really love this alternative version of Failure

  • i really love this alternative version of Failure

  • devote themselves to your songs!!!

  • pussy crowd... fuck'em all...

  • Went to show my friend this band and found this. It's also funny we live in Houston and had been to this venue.

  • @galtem You sir are an idiot.

  • I remember seeing Ken Andrews in Year or The Rabbit open for Thursday at the Black Cat in Washington D.C. in 2004? and it was just awesome. From the audience's response I could tell they didn't have any idea about Failure. I love this band I will forever. Magnified is my favorite album!

  • Sounds JUST like the recorded track. Amazing!

  • @ejicon The bassist from depeche mode says he actually thinks failure did this song better. MUSICAL GENIUSES

  • i love this cover...

  • That there is Troy from Queens of the Stone Age at 2:15 for the few of you that didn't know. Another really awesome band.

  • @TheJurneyMan ReallY? Hmm. Thats cool.

  • me and josh mckinley love this band so that makes them awesome.

  • First heard on DM tribute this is better than original and Lacuna Coil version and he is hotter (if you A gurl)

  • Is troy playing an epiphone ?????

  • One of my favourite bands covering one of my favourite songs. Absolute perfection.

  • i listen 2 this still on the 4 the masses album REPEATEDLY!!!! absolutely the best cover of it EVER

  • Hardly anyone knows this cover but this is the best one for me.

  • @ # 1:30 the right guitarist looks like a puppet

  • I've been listening to covers of this song all day, and this is one of my favourites.

  • @manabusama There studio version of this song is even better than this, by far the best cover of enjoy the silence I think.

  • I love Lacuna Coil and It Dies Today's versions of this song, but... it's refreshing to see a cover that's more mellow, and closer to the original.

  • superb

  • I remember I had Tribute to Depeche Mode CD and this was the best song on there. The rest were forgettable.

  • This is the best cover of this song!!!

  • thank u for uploading. wat a gr8 cover!

  • thanks so much for posting, AWESOME BAND

  • probably still the best depeche mode cover. and there are fuck tons of them. failure kicks ass.. which one of them is in a perfect circle again?

  • Troy Van Leeuwen.

  • That would be Troy Van Leeuwen, the guitarist on the left side of the stage.

  • this is so dope.

  • gran cover es mucho mejor que otras bandas que he escuchado..y ademas tiene una voz fenomenal..saludos from PERU!!

  • such a great voice

  • much better than others

  • this is a mean cover

  • one of the greatest 90s band of all time. plain in black...rip

  • WOW!! I have seen this video many times, but I just now noticed that Troy, the other guitarist is playing a crappy Epiphone Les Paul knockoff!! ...Just sayin'.

  • every guitar is a miracle

  • Some Epi's are good. Troy plays Yamaha hollow bodys now. RAWK!!!

  • @pondmatter

If you can get your hands on an epi custom from pre 95, they're made to gibby specs and the ones they put out today are pale in comparison. just sayin'

  • @pondmatter

Epiphone puts out some badass guitars. they ARE the sister company to Gibson...

  • Not bad, Not bad. It's cool.

  • used to walk to school everyday to highschool. it would either be alice in chains self titled or this album fantastic planet. i just had to have those albums in my tape player walkman. those times are uncomparable.

  • My cousin's 7 year old asked him what a tape player was the other day...We're getting old, bro.

  • wow that does make me feel old. i still feel like i'm 17 at heart.

  • I saw Iron Maiden for the first time 2 years ago and I felt 12 again.

  • Yeah man...I'm always thinking, my kids will be totally mystified by wired game controllers and analogue tapes if they ever find any. Times change :)

  • They were so great

  • I doubt Failure ever played Ozzfest

  • They didn't play Ozzfest.

  • @joemc83 Pretty sure he means lollapalooza.

Korn dropped out and they got bumped up to the main stage.

  • @ParisInk honestly i think you just got raped...

  • 1997 Ozzfest Lineup

    * Main Stage:

Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson (started June 15), Pantera, Type O Negative, Fear Factory, Machine Head, Powerman 5000

    Second Stage:

Coal Chamber, Slo Burn, Drain STH, downset., Neurosis, Vision of Disorder

    You're a Failure. Don't hate.

  • failure? are you kidding me?!!!

    THIS COVER IS DA BOMB!!!!!!!

5/5 + spot in my favs

  • OMG!!!!! It still sounds good

  • what a great cover version!!! I loved it in the tribute album...

  • men were is the keabors

  • awesome cover.. nuff said

  • i prefer the original depeche mode version but this comes at a close second

  • Troy's sound is most pleasing.

  • really enjoyed this a lot :)

  • he looks like dave gahan

  • good, but cristina's voice in lacuna coil version sounds better to me

  • You came from a different approach of music. Lacuna Coil is 2000"s gothic metal band. Failure is a ultra underrated band, who is one of the leaders of a underground musical movement know as "Space Rock" (which includes such performances as Hum, My Bloody Valentine). That´s the explanation why you dont like the song. Its like Nirvana and Pantera would do a cover of David Bowie,...if you are a metal fan, obiuosly you would hate the nirvana version. The music is for all the tastes $ people

  • well, i liked this version i said "good, but.." and im not a metal fan, my taste for music it the electronic side, trance, house, etc..

the voice of cristina just sound better to me, than the voice of the singer of failure.. sry for my bad english

  • AneC,

good call.. I'm in my mid 30s.. I bought 'Magnified' the week it came out, and thought they were gonna be the next Nirvana.. but they never got a lot of radio play or MTV play.. and then 'Fantastic..' dropped a few years later & I was sure they would really break, but they never did. In my mind tho' they were better than Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc, but ended their career in relative anonymity. They were the most underrated band of the 90s.

    peace.

  • I´am 20 thousand miles away from you and I feel the same way. Failure brings so much images, colours, shapes, I mean, when am going to stay in a beautiful place, or a special moment like the blurly secuences of a storm, well, they all belong to failure music. And they all were feelings that I lived in the ´90s.

Now I just see empty shallow bands of rock that has nothing to say, and the popular music is rap-pop crap that shows black poor guys getting rich showing their frivolous possesions

  • I have said that entire paragraph so many times while discussing this band.

  • @GeorgeWashingtonX SO ACCURATE

  • @GeorgeWashingtonX

I agree completely. I spent so many hours listening to Failure and Hum that I lost count.

Have heard Year of the Rabbit? Ken's other band, sounds very much like Failure.

  • @Skyrift.. yeah, I've tried to follow everything Andrews did after Failure, and I actually got a chance to see Edwards' band (Autolux) that he formed after he & Ken Andrews disbanded Failure. That Autolux show was in LA back in 2002, so I'm not sure if Edwards is still makin' music.. but in my opinion, their best work was when they collaborating in Failure. peace

  • @GeorgeWashingtonX

i totally agree they were the best of the 90's

  • @GeorgeWashingtonX thats just what makes them so special, nobody that i know knows who failure is. but it is ashame everyone else never got to hear

  • @GeorgeWashingtonX Most definitely better than Nirvana but I think Pearl Jam is their equal at the very least.

  • @asassin06 dude.... better than nirvana? come on they are under rated, but if this band was huge and nirvana was never heard of, you would be commenting on nirvana videos saying they are better than failure

  • @goodbusiness12 definitely not. nirvana's a totally decent band, nothing more.

  • @goodbusiness12 Yes, better than Nirvana. Nirvana's most famous work is pretty much a Pixies rip off. I mean, Nirvana is great, and I'm not trying to crap on them or their legacy, but they aren't in the same league as Failure. I think Dave Grohl did more original stuff with the Foo Fighters than Nirvana ever did, even though I *like* Nirvana way more than Foo Fighters. Ken Andrews did something pretty damn impressive and original on the 3 Failure records, On, and Year of the Rabbit.

  • @GeorgeWashingtonX wouldn't that band be Eleven?

  • @anecsey I am Lacuna Coil fan but I admit this cover is the best!

  • @furakkueroru I mean I even prefer to original!

  • LMFAO

  • It isn't as good as the original. It fucking owns the original in every way possible. Ken Andrews conveys so much more soul. The original is so... robotic. This is angelic.

  • Best version of this song IMO

  • Failure's cover of this song is actually probably the best one I've ever heard. There's a reason their version was picked for the Depeche Mode tribute album.

  • troy van leeuwen on solo guitar...genius

  • this is a good cover... if you think is not too much for you so go the hell asshole, u dont have any idea of the work in the backstage so go and do youre best cover!... if you can pick up that note fucker

  • They OWN this!!!!!!!

  • Are you fucking serious?

This is the BEST cover ever.

  • Obviously you've never seen Avril cover Chop Suey.

  • lulllllllzz xD

  • That was a good cover :)

    Nice guitar play @ 2:29

I'm not sure if "Failure" is an appropriate name :D

    5/5

  • silence . . . on 6/1/97 in houston ;]

  • superb.. shame these guys didn't stick around long

  • i like it nice cover

  • burger shots are tiny

  • oooooo hail bastards

  • the sound must to be from the ESTOMAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not from neck

  • awesome!

  • indeed this is a great cover.

  • how the hell did i miss out on these guys back in the '90's?

    so amazing...

  • great cover, come to DC or Baltimore so I can catch it live.

  • That would be complicated, seeing as they broke up around 1997...

  • lol

  • Really really good.

  • I love Failure, and it's not a bad cover but this is how to do it right: watch?v=kJNx80H_5_w

  • the only version of Enjoy the Silence that I loved. Failure isn't a Failure at all when it comes to covering.

  • the ONLY cover of "Enjoy The Silence" worth listening to... the rest are complete shite

  • I really like Lacuna Coil's version - check it out

Then again, maybe you already have.

  • Drummer gives realy nice powerful beat.

  • Great great cover.

Shitty cameraman, though... he didn't show Greg once!

  • One of my favorite songs ever played by one of my favorite bands ever.

  • Agreed 100%

  • that was awesome

  • One of the best DM ES cover!!!

ANother great DM ES cover are performed by:

    - Lacuna Coil

    - Moonlight

  • the linkin park one grew on me after a while too

  • loved it

  • bullshit

  • Troy Van Leeuwen is awesome!

  • As covers go, that was pretty good.

  • i think that this concert was probably one of the best things to happen to rock music ever, but once again no one cares about ken andrews, its a shame

  • Troy van Leuwen... f**king god!!

  • I'm convinced that none of them were really human....because humans cannot produce music of the caliber that Failure was.

  • the lead singer is fit :)

    best cover ;)

  • Best cover of EtS

  • best song on the DM cover album.

O melhor cover que já vi do Depeche Mode.

    Muito bom.

  • AWESOME FUCKING COVER.

best song on the DM cover album.

  • in case you don't know, Failure was a band that put out 3 albums in the 90's.....their third album "Fantastic Planet" is remarkable.....they had a minor radio hit with their song "Stuck on You" of off Fantastic P...I actually heard it on a radio station in Atlanta and bought the album off that........incredible production on the cd......I love this cover btw....I don't think I've heard any other cover songs by them......also check out Failure albums "Comfort" (engine. by Albini) and "Magnified"

  • Well, there's the Replicants, but it's kind of a different thing ;) ....Failure was more about doing their own thing, plus at the end they had Kelli Scott on drums!!

  • pretty sure Failure covered the glorious song I Wanna Be Adored by Stone Roses.

  • That was Year Of The Rabbit (Ken's other awesome band), Failure covered this and a song "Are 'Friends' Electric", but it was only played in live concerts. I can PM you the link to it if you want it.

  • that was year of the rabbit.

  • I prefer this Failure cover(the one on DM tribute) to Lacuna Coil version!

  • This is really a great cover.

Most covers suck but this is really good. Nice

  • this band is great!!!!!!!!!!

  • I remember this song in the CD "For The Masses" the tribute for Depeche Mode and I like it very much. Thanks for the vid!!!

  • And the singer has a really special voice. He sounds like Kurt Cobain and the song also sounds like it is a cover of Nirvana.Good, good very good.Almost perfect.I'm really impressed.

  • Nice band...where is it from?

  • they from seatland USA

  • Wrong. They are from Los Angeles.

  • the singer was born and raised in seattle, but they formed in la

  • I've been listening to this cover for years. One of my favorite songs. You don't see the breakdown coming. Totally changes the direction of the song.

    Brilliant.

  • nice band! incredible!

  • I never heard of this band.But I"m definitely a fan now.

  • es una excelente versión de un mega himno... un ejemplo a seguir... muy buenos músicos estos chicos :D

  • This and Lacuna Coil's cover are the only good covers of Enjoy The Silence. Ever.

  • Awesome ! raw power you guys make it your own, not just a "cover"

  • haha funny!

  • Greg looks like a Holocaust victim.

  • he's endorphinly challenged. poor greg.

  • es uno d los mjores covers ke he escuchado de enjoy the silence aparte de lc

  • Depeche Mode is awesome. Failure is awesome. Enjoy the silence is awesome. This cover is awesome.

  • yeah !! :p

  • That was great!!! Good playin'!

  • Well.. the guitars are okay, but I think (as a longtime fan) what the heck happened with the original sound? Some parts are just added to be cool - there aren't any guitar solos in this track. Doesn't remind me much to the original, sorry.

  • What? Not to be a jerk but what are you talking about? Long time fan of who, Depeche Mode or Failure? There is a guitar solo in this version. It's a cover song, it's not usually meant to sound identical to an original version. Otherwise cover songs would be very boring. Just my two cents. Write back.

  • I dont like it either. I think a cover is successful if it sounds the same. Thats what most people base a cover's success on. Nope sorry, its lost all of the haunting sadness that DM gave this song.

  • The melody is the same as the original. And for the most part it's musically the same (with the exception of the choir chants). Why would you want to make a cover song sound the same as something that has already been done? There is nothing interesting about a band that records a song identically as the original. Cover songs are a bands iterpertaion of it. They play it as if they wrote it. Oh well though members Depeche Mode have said in the past that they love Failure's version.

  • I believe of all the covers of this song Breaking Benjamin's rendition is the least like the original.

  • Covers are interpretations...they don't have to be the same as the original, thats what makes most covers killer.

  • Класно сиграли!

  • This is the best cover I've heard yet...

    needs more cowbell though.

  • THE BEST BAND THAT COVERED DEPECHE MODE. IN FACT, ONE OF THE BEST BAND OF THE NINETIES WITH NO DOUBTS. MAYNARD KEENAN, TRENT REZNOR,like very much this band. Besides, this guys FAILURE, are a real underground band.Only a few people knew them, the record label fuck them, and that is the reason why they split.

Man,you heard "FANTASTIC PLANET" and you can fly.

  • Vocals grt. Ok drums. a litlle too rick. make it a little more somber
