so you're going to then say that strummer was to late for punk too? theres loads of "punk" bands that started out at like 924 Gilman in Oakland,ca. that have been around for over 10 years like AFI,The Nerve Agents,Tiger Army to name a few that didn't get out of the local scene and that being the bay area until alot later...but offspring has been around for a long time now..longer than 10 years..AFI has been around for over 10 and they were on Dexter's label for awhile

@teenageharlot dude yeah I know how you feel, but I am kinda lucky to live in area where local bands still are a major scene and well a lot other music I'm from Tulsa, OK and depending on the bands there is still a real fun loving drinking circle of punks and metal dudes lots of circle pits ska pits you cant dive any more but none of this just stand around with you arms crossed dumb bull shit

@teenageharlot In the late 90s when kids liked offspring and green day, older cousins complained it wasnt good as nofx and rancid. And when they listend to them, their own older cousins complained misfits and dead kennedys was a lot better.

I dont know if its the bands gettin worse or the people liking worse stuff, but if you wanna complain about new stuff I would suggest you go complain at the beethoven thread or at least a dead kennedys video. Offspring was already too late for punk

I wouldn't say too late but in a diffetent period. Today thei're more pop punk. But I don't see that as a bad thing. At least their still doing SOMETHING! Most bands today described as punk aren't really punk nor were they punk when they started out. To percisley define what is or isn't punk is sensles since punk isn't just one style or one movement. The only thing all punk music has incommon is minimalism and that's pretty much it... Besides as society changes punk changes with it.

@ORMFERRARI they only complain when it's not the small little bubble of range they are used to. as times change the concept is applied to newer sounds. and that doesn't have to be a bad thing, but to say "hey punks not within lines i recognize it to be" is against what it stands for. that doesn't mean the meaning is softened to allow some of the sissy bands going around these days join in, but the genuine stuff CAN be made with more up to date composition.

It was damn good. A soldout crowd was extremely mixed. A lot of diehard punk rockers and a lot of mainstream MTV fans who were jumping on the Offspring bandwagon.

Both Rancid and The Offspring put on extremely good shows.
