Sean Lennon is wrong to think this is a good way to remind young people about John Lennon, in face of the fact that there are obviously no new LPs or such. It never comes off good - it always comes across creepy - to use idealic icons as promotional devices for products they knew nothing about. It's always good to see footage of Lennon - but please no... not this way.

Absolutely. Advertisement is not needed in order for John's image to be still swaying around in public. Lots of people, even people in my age group, knows who John Lennon is. It's very bad. He would be VERY disappointed in Yoko for allowing his image to be sold on such a low level and having Sean be all fine'n'dandy with it. It's a disgrace and a pathetic excuse for more money making & attention seeking for Ono.
Whoever didn't know that this was clearly a voice actor using remade dialogue must be stupid, and i have to say I'm appauled at the lengths these advertisers go to in order to get you to buy their product, the same way they did with the Marylin Munroe version it's absolutely hurrendous.
Yes, it's offensive for so many reasons... But the offense I'm focused on is how they've created him saying a message about how it's not rock and roll to look to the past for inspiration. All of his and The Beatles music were directly inspired from songs that came before them. Art is not created in a vacuum. Anyway, it's a shit commercial but that aspect of it pissed me off the most.

@voihuih Yes. That is very reassuring. And that's the thing about John. He seemed to not care too much about the fortune and his overflowing wealth due to his talent and music. He was one of those rare, true musicians that wanted to express what's on his mind and show his art. I think the same could be said for the other 3 Beatles. They're all good at what they do and spill their souls into their art.

The way this car advert was portraying John didn't seem right and it was a tacky use of viewing his image to the public. Basically she uses his image to her advantage. I think the Beatles' music is awesome and they made it the reason why it's such an important thing in life. Even beyond music, they're influential and unforgettable. Absolutely. Advertisement is not needed in order for John's image to be still swaying around in public. Lots of people, even people in my age group, knows who John Lennon is. It's very bad. He would be VERY disappointed in Yoko for allowing his image to be sold on such a low level and having Sean be all fine'n'dandy with it. It's a disgrace and a pathetic excuse for more money making & attention seeking for Ono.

Yes, it's offensive for so many reasons... But the offense I'm focused on is how they've created him saying a message about how it's not rock and roll to look to the past for inspiration. All of his and The Beatles music were directly inspired from songs that came before them. Art is not created in a vacuum. Anyway, it's a shit commercial but that aspect of it pissed me off the most.
