I was there, the vuvuzelas were only noticeable in the first few matches...After that they found their own rhythm and the volume was much less. In most cases they improved the atmosphere in really boring games.

I am South African born and I never heard of the vuvuzela until very recently. There is MUCH MORE to South African culture than a damn plastic horn. Saying it is part of our culture is horse shit. On the plane back home after the world cup, almost every foreign passenger leaving South Africa were taking a bunch of vuvuzelas along with their carry-on luggage. FIFA could have banned it but the refused. It was too much of a marketing coup and has almost nothing to do with S African culture.

Its funny how most people complaining about this were never at the games.
I was there, the vuvuzelas were only noticeable in the first few matches...After that they found their own rhythm and the volume was much less. In most cases they improved the atmosphere in really boring games.
Anybody who attends international football knows there is not much of an atmosphere at the games anyways.
