I have heard a pair of these at a B&O showroom and let me tell you these things are something else! They would not look out of place on the set of Doctor Who either.
@djprice69 They're definitely not worth it in terms of "bang per buck", since B&O are renowned for their design, which means you pay a lot of the design, not just the sound.
When I was a t the B&O retailer the manager told me there's a reason for the weight of these speakers. If it was two kilograms lighter they'll move from the force of air being pushed down by the 15" subs.
@misterrainbowman What i don't believe is that the movement will be cause by air that the subs will push down. I would easily believe you if you told me they moved if they had no counterweight, but i think that would be cause by vibration of the drivers, and not air.
@misterrainbowman Put your finger infront of your sub. THE sub itself, not the hole, where the air comes out. Do you feel anything else than vibration ? I do not think so. Even if you put the hole downwards, it would never realease that much energi that it would lift itself, because 2 inches at 360 degrees is way enough space for air to travel without needing more weight.
@dionusmusic the z5500 is still a small ported sub although with reasonable amounts of bass I'm sure, the speakers on these are more like club subwoofers! I think you could beat the Beolab 5s with a horn loaded or very large ported sub, mind you I haven't heard the Beolab 5 in person (or z5500 for that matter)
The sound from these is stunning......NEVER try to compare som Logitech crap to these. There are better speakers out there but they cost much more if you add the price of speakers, kables and amplifier.....the Beolab 5 have their own amp so you dont have to buy high end amp along with the speakers....that saves alot of money. And yes I have my own set of these.
@egj1975 I'm a big logitech fan and i'm real offended when you compare the two, because a logitech system is like a sporty transit van, it looks good and built to do a job at a reasonable price, where and B&O system is like a lamborghini, huge power and performance and not very practical due to cost, it's not the same brah! they are too completly different beast aimed at two completly different market you cannot compare the two, both system are good for their market

I sure haven't. it's too digital. for example the woofer in the Beolab 5 is 15" right? an 8" woofer needs a cab that's about 40 liters, this 15" woofer has a 29 liter cab, thats just not enough, so they try to fix it digitally. The sound is still impressive and the bass is just ridiculously low. point is you'r better off with like the B&W Diamond series, something that's in that pricerange.
@brando18guitarplyr I have got to admit the B&W Diamond series have had the best reviews. I really need to listen to them but its going to be a few years until i can own some haha. I love high quality speakers though. You seem to know your stuff about speakers so you can let me know about some decent ones.
@BassAndDub Well, I find a lot of B&W speakers good, like for it's size and price the DM600S3 that has a low bass unbelievable (for the size of the speaker it's HUGE) and if you place them next to some larger for example some JBL's or something (i personally don't like the sound of JBL) then they play them away both musically and *Bassy*. and they cost about 300 euro's a piece, But it's really hard to say what kind of speakers fits you, i will need to know what genre you listen to the most etc.
