  • nice quality in the glass

  • Nice video with a lens that is as light as a feather. That FF 5D Mark II doesn't hurt either. I have the same lens and for the price you can't beat it. Good bang for the buck. I use mine on a T3i I just bought. Of course I am working my way up to a FF camera and hoping to get the new 5D Mark (III ?), or whatever they call it, whenever it comes out. I hear pretty soon.

  • how to do time lapse?

  • @meowtrox Hey Meowtrox, I actually didn't use any timelapse in this video. I just sped up the footage. ;-)

  • @talltravis79 great video Travis!

  • @meowtrox

    how to search with google?

  • @mamuefa ask your mama

  • this is amazing !

  • wow great video work, nice editing! do you shoot in Manual or recommend anything to get this look i.e. dialling in a manual WB 5600kday, 3200knight, 1/50, 24fps, ISOs in multiples of 160, Neutral colour profile, these seem the to be the tips i keep hearing but can you share some of your secrets?

  • great!

  • my dream lens on my dream camera

  • @gladitsnotme I'd save your money a wee bit and purchase the EF 50mm 1.4 usm, Better build quality and better image quality, and of course more stops of light with better bokeh (back ground blur).

  • @Dannysubliminal Thanks for the tip!

  • @gladitsnotme You're Welcome. Of course you could get the 1.2 L lens for that things costs a bomb, I've tried all and the 1.4 EF is the best for value of money.

  • god damn, all i can say....nice quality

  • wow! very nice footage!

one question; which song did you use in the first few shots? sounds very nice!

  • that is a pretty skyline!

  • What a clear image

  • wow dude.. so simple but really really cool. Many thumbs up for you if i could!

  • excellent! iS it just me or did I notice some vignetting in some of the scenes? makes sense using that lens on a full frame camera. nice video! :)

  • wow .... i wish i had money :/

  • Thats who everyone should get a tripod. Even if you dont use it much for pictures you can make great video at some point.

  • Did you use a filter?

  • @NeleTube No filters used. Thanks for watching.

  • WOW

  • 5D Mk2 beats anyone in its class.

  • HOW DO YOU DO THE BLURRY BACKGORUND AND FOCUS??? HELP PLEASE>

  • Tampa and Ybor City! Nice!

  • Whilst I would LOVE a Zeiss 50 1.4 lens

    I use a Mk1 Canon 50 f1.8 EF which I purchased 2nd hand (but MINT) for £25...

I do wonder if I would see any improvement for a mere £450 more....

Good video - thanks for posting

  • whats the title of the music :)

  • As far as video goes, you can't get better than the 50mm 1.2 on a dslr, but for $47 I picked up the 50mm 1.8 to use on my 7d and the results are pretty close. There is no better value in the lens market considering the cheapest I've seen the 1.2 is about $1500. In Australia anyways...

  • i just ordered this lens for low light on my 5Dmkii

  • oh hey I know that boner ;)

  • Thats cool

  • dayum that quality is good.....i think when im ready to upgrade in cameras i think im gonna get the 5d. but this wont happen for years.............

  • Nice video! Thanks for uploading.

  • Is that music from Firstcom?

  • great video

  • WOW the quality is just superb considering the fact that the video went through the editing process, what editing software you used and what are the encoding settings you used, thanks and great video!

  • @Boodhunnilesh Thanks for the kind words. When i originally purchased my camera all I had was Imovie '09. I just imported into Imovie and exported at 720p HD.

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • @NewAgeDirector Thanks :-)

  • Tutorial on encoding ?!?!?! :D great quality!

  • @talltravis79

exacty! I dont wanna buy that Camera then next thing you know the mark 3 is coming out next month or so

  • Wow. Very impressive considering it was shot using a 50 f1.8. Pretty good! Great job on the video! :-D

  • @ngoalpo Thanks

  • I love the 1.8 50mm, I use it with my rebel T2i. Excellent video you've got here :)

  • I want that camera but I wanna wait for Mark III

  • pretty damn good for a lens that is available for less than $70...

  • Nice Music! ;D

  • Beautiful!

  • @PaulTheillusionist Thank you.

  • ^_^

  • amazing quality which format do you upload it?

  • @erbse2006 I uploaded at 720p h.264. Thanks for watching.

  • is this raw footage or did you make the contrast better with software?

  • @mrincredible26 I didn't mess with the contrast. I might have boosted the saturation on some scene by a little. Thanks for watching.

  • thank u sooo much

  • The very last shot is my favorite shot of the Tampa skyline, especially with the horizontal space that the convention center adds to the composition. All in all, great video! :)

  • @butterbeeroverdose Thanks :-)

  • great video !!, but i thought it was the 550d, now im disapointed

  • the music remind me mafia game :)

  • dude. fucking awesome.

  • @djcondra thanks bro!

  • can I get a deep DOF like @ :23 in low light conditions?

  • @mizfit32 I filmed that particular scene while the sun was setting. But had it been a night time shot I seriously doubt that I would have been able to get both the boat and Downtown buildings in focus at the same time. There would be to much distance between the 2 objects.

  • кенон навысотЕЕе!!!!

  • travis, what software did you use to edit your footage. I want one of these cameras, but the stories of trying to edit the DSLR HD has got me scared. Has the editing been an issue for you?

  • absolutely stunning my good man. I've got the t2i, and i'm buying this lens today. Did you do any color correction to these clips?

  • @TheWholeMatt Thanks man. The t2i is a wonderful camera. I've used it several times as a B-camera. I boosted the saturation on a couple of shots but that's about it.

  • whats that last song called? ;-)

  • AMAZING!! Really nicely exposed! brilliant balance, where these all manual settings? for the most part im using manual iso, and shutter speeds, but im not too clued up with the colour temperatures in white balance and picture settings. if you feel like sharing please reply! :D

  • That real nice :)

  • Very Good! Thank you for sharing!

  • this wasn't shot at 24p right?

  • @bootypicture Good Eye. This was shot 30p.

  • @talltravis79 The city skyline night shot is absolutely scrumptious....

Please give me your actual settings so that I can replicate it.

    I am using a D300 equipped with a 50mm 1.8 lens. Thanks in advance!

  • @MrTanker10a Thanks. I'm not quite sure to be honest. This was when I first picked up my 5d . I think I was running on full auto.

  • I am hoping to trial this camera this coming Saturday, glad I found this post :o)

  • Great video!!! Love the composition and editing!!! I love the fact that this video shows how great the quality actually is with the cheaper lens... It sold me on the camera!!! I have been looking for a video exactly like this! This video lets me know the quality is that great with the cheap lens.. and how much better will it be with a more expensive lens? I think the quality with a 80 dollar lens is quite superb!!! and why people bash it I dont understand they should appreciate it! Thank you

  • The Lens being cheap doesn't necessarily mean its a bad lens. The 50mm F1.8 has great optical qualities. With nearly all of the primes being superior to any of the zooms Canon makes.

I use my F1.8 50 with my 7D all the time. Takes brilliant shots consistently. If only the autofocus on it wasnt so slow!

  • @MsDreamingLife I used a tripod for the downtown night scene. Thanks for watching.

  • @talltravis79 Can I ask what ISO was needed to shoot in that light condition? : )

  • i like the video, i have been photographing tampa, but this video is amazing nice composition.

i have that lens too and is awesome, i have to say that using L-lens does give you better quality pic's, but i will not make you a better photographer :op

  • beautiful great camera ... no colors correction in the last seconds of this video 0.45 ?

  • cant believe some people are on here bashing the lens. its cheap and u can achieve such a shallow depth of field.

  • @pwrlifter69 You got caught up like a high percentage of people do, it is the creativity and not much the technical aspect! If you have the 5DMII, and you add retro lenses, WOW!!! it gives a more cinematic filmic look, in my perspective. At the end it is about story telling!!! BTW talltrevis79, keep it up, love your shots! Oh, I have FD lenses with my 5D and LOVE IT!!!!! : )

  • @pwrlifter69

the reason why we are buying different lenses is because of their different specialties and features regardless of how much is the price. let say this lens cost $2000, would you buy it for your (e.g.) 5D mark II? yes, because its expensive. lol.

  • awesome... my dream camera !!

  • lol even better!

  • @pwrlifter69 Actually, I got the lens for $80. :-)

  • @pwrlifter69 There's nothing wrong in doing so. Theres no rules saying a 5D must use expensive lens. It's like a pen & your signature..does cheap ink have any different when you land your signature?

  • @duffz Well said Duffz ... :-) Well said.

  • @duffz I'm stealing that :)

  • @pwrlifter69

Because the 50 1.8 is sharp, not as sharp as many L lenses, but it is very sharp.

It is sharper than most non-L lens, great apeture. It is sharper than the 50 1.4 which costs waaay more.

The drawback is poor bokeh due to the 5-piece, straight-edged blades.

  • @pwrlifter69 50mm 1.8 is one of the best lens's you can get just because its cheap doesnt mean its shit

  • @pwrlifter69 do you have a DSLR yourself? The 50mm or the "nifty-fifty" is a must have for a photographer. I want to get one myself. (but the 1.4, the one with the USM)

  • @pwrlifter69 So you are saying when buy an expensive camera, you need to have an expensive lens on it. Would that make you a crap photographer for not having an expensive pieces of glass attached to it? No!! Do you know anything about lens? No!! Yes I do buy an expensive lens for my camera but the question is not why do you buy a professional camera and have a cheap lens attached to it. Expensive lens doesn't make you a better photographer and you should no that.

  • @pwrlifter69

look at the awesome footage. That's why.

  • Lovely :)

  • I have the same question, what is the second song? Thanks!

  • amazing!!!

  • I live in tampa too!

  • hi, was the last shot tampa?

  • absolutely beutiful... I have the 5d and I was thinking of getting the 50 mm 1.8... good deal... thanks for sharing

  • Please, tell me how you edited this. Everytime i try to import to premiere it says it dosent recognise the file =/

  • @frankytap Make sure you have the latest Quicktime player installed. Canons files are quicktime files.

  • nice work ... goin to get one of these sooner....

  • Hi. How did you change focus point without moving your camera?? Looks great anyways!

  • so you dont get any vignetting with this lens? I've seen a sample video with a sigma 50mm 1.4 and it vignettes bad...! Did you need to crop this?

  • Beautiful video :)

I recognise that second piece of music from the old Burj Dubai website... What's it called?

  • Awesome video. Great shots! I cant wait to get my 50mm 1.8. im gonna order it right now!

  • once I went so horny that I fucked a 70 - 300 mm lense xD

  • What's the name of the second song? It's excellent!

Also, brilliant video. Alone, it's sold the 50mm f1.8 lens to me for my T2i :D

  • that is really nice want one !

  • what is the name of the first song? its catchy :)

  • @1jbong Hey jbong... The song is "Suwannee River" and is played as background music in Disneyland's New Orleans Square.

  • @talltravis79 whats the last songs name? i ve heard id many times, some kind of canon commercial song?

    br

    denis

  • @den1ssimo It's called "Time Lapse" and it comes bundled with Imovie,Final Cut Express, & Final Cut Pro. :-)

  • I shoot a 50mm f1.4 but the f1.8 is the greatest deal in the history of mankind. That lens is absolutely a bargain. Too bad it feels so "cheap" to use but it is a great tool. Great video work.

  • @RGN1970 One of these days I need to pick up the 50 1.4. I hear the 1.4 is much sharper.

  • Really great.

I wish I could afford a DSLR with video, now. At least I'll have some lenses to play with when I finally do get a new body.

  • i have exactly the same setup, but my shots are by far not as nice as yours! i am still practicing ... ;-) i think i try to pan way to often. i probably should focus more on classic "foto" style scenes. anyway:

    very good clip!!

  • @ozorg Thanks... I just try to shoot as much as I can and pick out the best scenes.

  • is the footage from this cam as vivid as seen here or has it been color corrected?

  • @ARR016a I boosted the saturation a bit in post but the colors are pretty darn vivid straight out of the camera.

  • oh ok

    thanx :D

  • OMG!!

    beutiful!!!

    AHAH!

    IUNNO WHICH LENS TO GET...

EITHER 50 MM F/1.8 OR THE 75-300MM ONE..

  • @russvien08 I would get both. You can pick up the 50mm 1.8 for as cheap as $65.

  • really ??!!!

    which store can i get a $65 50mm..

    lol

  • Very nice, what software did you use for editing? Thanks!

  • Thanks!

    I used IMovie '09

  • perfect tools for making video

  • What is the last song you are using in the video? I've heard it before but can't place it.

  • @brettrkr "Time Lapse" from IMovie

  • is the quality better thaan the eos 500d?

  • @Kentiapalme I'm not that familiar with the 500d.... sorry.

  • It's just got more DOF. However i think you can only use EF lenses.

  • yes

  • 1.000.000 times YES!

  • awesome!

  • man this looks sick!

awesome work...i wonder why it is so cheap?

seems to be way better than the lense they offer in that CANON KIT along with the 7d.

    What do you think?

  • @Lunatic4ever : The 7D Kit lens is nice and versatile but it has a max. aperture of 3.5. The 50mm gets much wider at 1.8 giving you a much more shallow depth of field and better night time shots but it's obviously got a limited focal range. I'd recommend getting a set of primes over a zoom lens.

  • Thank you,i think for THAT price there is no obvious reason to skip this product.

Another question. See i shoots movies and i really love itbut i always felt like that consumer cameras cant deliver the filmlook.I Bought the HV 20 a while ago and its really good but still NOT what i really wished for. The 7d seems like a device, especially because it enables you to shoot at night without producing pure mess. What do you think of it regarding that?

  • @Lunatic4ever The 5D and 7D are very challenging to shoot with but can give you significant advantages over your HV20. The main two advantages would be superior night time shooting and a shallow depth of field. The 7d's 24P and shallow depth of field will give you more of a film look than your average camcorder.

  • i'm also contemplating on 7d body + 50mm 1.8

  • I like the fireman part the best. Great stuff!

  • Stunning!

  • really great video. good quality. im thinking of purchasing this lens.

  • @ridiculousbass Thanks! It's really a great lens. You can pick them up for as cheap as $80 online too.

  • this lens is perfect for night shoot. i gotta get one.

  • beautiful. Is there a difference between the video recording capabilities of the T1i and the 5D mkII?

If there is non. a T1i is my next purchase.

  • nice looking video. What software do you use to make it?

  • Thanks!

i used Imovie '09. One of these days I'll upgrade to Final Cut Pro.
