@radiodj1520 I was actually curious when this happened. My wife was a child then, in Newington, CT. She still remembers her Dad, a national guardsman, having to go rescue people. I lived in Jersey then, and that month I was laid up with an injured shoulder. I was in a sling all September, and fairly useless for the next month or so after the sling came off. i have no memory of this storm in Jersey.
The opening of the first of the Channel 2 Newscasts on here was V/O'd by CBS staff announcer Bill Martin. (Was he Brooklyn or Bronx, given his pronouncing Mr. Holt's first name as "Lestah"?)
@radiodj1520 You troll like Jermainemack. You seriously have nothing better to do in life than just point out the obvious. So what? We don't give a rat's ass what date this is from, and why do you only care about the opening?
@Lattyway yes this is what I think about when I see this I can remember these times of anchormans, old school news, and I live in the area of Islip where the interview took place. I think your strange for replying to my post
I was living in Middle Island, in suffolk county long island at the time. I remember looking outside and watching the wind blow the trees down within a matter of minutes, and powerlines had been brought down by the falling trees. We did not have any electricity for 2 weeks. I was scared, as I was just a little kid and I never experienced a hurricane before. The island is overdue for another, which I hope does not happen for a long time.
