  • @jeniffereb

    Well done chef and enjoy!

    Happy Christmas :)

  • That's one mutant turkey, lol. It's legs are tiny!

  • can i just make sure the vegetables are cooked with the turkey for 3:30 hrs? and another question if im rosting a chicken instead of turkey would that be the same amount of time for cooking?

    thank you

  • @jeniffereb

You can cook the veg underneath the turkey as I did in the vid this will roast the veg. If you want you can cook some extra veg seperatly(boiling or steaming)

Chickens are usually smaller than turkey & therefore take less time to cook. If you are buying your chicken from a butcher or supermarket it is always worth reading what is recommended on the packaging or asking the butcher for recommended cook time. Otherwise I do have some vids on youtube for cooking a whole chicken.

  • Fabulous Turkey tips..thank you for this..Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family..with a meal like that they will be pleased x

  • @shinesmile77

  • @Unbeaten49AFC

    that goes for you too!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • I wish you showed how you made your gravy for this!

  • @ViciousHead

Yes sorry I have not included the gravy in this vid!

At the time I had a 10 min limit on video length.

I do have a video recipe for gravy when I cooked some pork if that will give you the basic principles.

The video is called: "Gravy How to make Gravy sauce from pan juices roast pork crackling"

Next time I do a turkey; maybe next year I will include the gravy!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • This looks really good :)

Im planning on doing your recipie this christmas!

Do i need to brine it before?

    Thanks

  • @montyscherzando

That’s good to hear I hope it all goes well for you.

If you know how-to brine and have all the necessary equipment then brining should give you a more flavoursome and moist Turkey.

I don’t usually brine my turkeys and did not with the one in the video.

Let me know how you get on with your turkey :)

  • Can I hire you for christmas dinner lol

  • @AntiSkanger

That’s sounds good to me especially if there is a party afterwards :)

Although it could be a bit tricky this year as I will be in Spain for Christmas.

    Maybe next year instead!

Have a good Christmas and enjoy your turkey.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Whats in the stuffing?

  • @KoolGaal

I can't remember the actual stuffing I used at the time. You can use any stuffing you like.

I do have a recipe on youtube for stuffing that’s very nice.

It called “Christmas Stuffing sage onion sausage".

Good luck with your turkey :)

  • When roasting a turkey, I would also start it at a high heat then turn it down to 350 F to finish. But can you tell me how many minutes it should be per kilo? I'm just looking for a guideline!

  • @OntarioBr88

As a general guide, based on a oven preheated to 180ºC (350ºF, Gas Mark 4):

Allow 45 minutes per kg plus 20 minutes for a turkey under 4.5kg

Allow 40 minutes per kg plus 20 mins for a turkey that's between 4.5kg and 6.5kg

Allow 35 minutes per kg plus 20 mins for a turkey of more than 6.5kg.

The thing you have to keep in mind is ovens do vary in performance and cook times are a guide only.

  • @OntarioBr88

Cook time/temp for my turkey as per video

    Weight of mine 5.5KG

    1. Place into pre-heated oven 250c/475f/Gas 9 Cook for 30 mins to get the turkey a blast of heat.

    2. After 30 mins cooking reduce heat to 170c/325f/Gas 3 cook for 2 ½ hours

    3. Now in total the turkey has cooked for 3 hours, you need to remove tin foil and pancetta or bacon and put back in the oven for the final 30 mins at 200c/400f/gas 6

Total time cooked is 3 ½ hours to 4 hours depending on your oven

  • Do you roast your potatoes separately then, or could I put them with parsnips and carrots under the turkey do you think? Thanks!

  • @earlrobinson35

I think it would be nice to keep the potatoes separate. That way you can get them nice and crispy!

Sounds like your planning for Christmas dinner :))

    OriginalNakedChef

  • the americans serve their turkey with something called stuffing why is that?

  • @doctorw2

I don't think it just the Americans.

Stuffing can be a nice extra to go with the meal.

After all Christmas and Thanksgiving are those days that you tend to stuff yourself :)

I have a recipe for stuffing on youtube if you are interested.

    “Christmas Stuffing sage onion sausage”

    Thanks for dropping in!

  • @OriginalNakedChef

My turkey was a success!!! thank you so much!!! I've also made a great gravy out of the juices in the tray!

And, the bacon (which came out beautiful and crispy) I chopped it up and mixed it with the roast potatoes!

It was AMAZING! Thank you so much!
