i have not heard this song since i was a child in the mid 70s when i saw the movie at the cinema. it stayed in a deep part of my brain. i thought about it about once every 5 years. it is strange to hear it now after so long. thank you
Brings back a lot of memories of my youth and also the suffering of those who experienced 9/11. A beautifully crafted song that expresses lots of different emotions.
THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME SAW IT WEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD SAW IT IN THE THEATER. I REMEMBER FIGHTING WIT MY MOTHER 4 THE DOLLAR!IM 46 NOW AND TO THIS DAY IVE SEEN IT OVER 500 TIMES!!!WEN I WATCH IT I CAN MOUTHED THE WORDS 95 PERCENT OF THE TIME....AND THIS IS A 3 HOUR MOVIE....FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@homeyy516 Isn't that funny. I am 46 and I saw this movie when it came out and have seen it a few dozen times and never get tired of the song nor the movie. Great movie. Great song.
@pefkisuzi Yup, this song won the Oscar for Best Song. The Towering Inferno was nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture. It won three Oscars - Cinematography, Editing, and for this song.
Yepper, it is indeed a young Susan Flannery who would in 1987 begin playing the role of Stephanie Forrester on "The Bold & the Beautiful". Back in 1974 when this was filmed, she was on "Days of Our Lives". For her role here as Lorrie, she won a Golden Globes award for most promising female newcomer to films.
@alexisdiva9 ....omg, B&B is so incestuous....and the only story Flannery gets is her never ending cancer storyline....and she certainly has put on weight....she is better as a blonde also....
Good song by Maureen McGovern. I like this better than her big hit song from The Posieden Adventure, but I never heard this one on the radio. It must not have been a hit song.
Thank you for this. I hadn't heard the full vocal version until now. Yes, very moving, especially in the context of this eerie film. As someone said, there are shades of Karen Carpenter in this lady's voice.
A movie and this good music are great.

モーニングアフターのメインテーマを唄ってるモーリンマクガバンと言う人がこの曲も唄っています。姉歯が作った建屋なら、同じ事が起きたかも。

Uau! A Maureen Macgovern é mesmo boa; as músicas dela são fortes, emocionantes...Essa música - linda!
E o filme? Até hoje, MUITAS lágrimas (No final? É melhor não comentar!)...
Reaperi uma coisa: o final dessa música é quase igual à THE MORNING AFTER!

Was this not up for an Oscar? I know "The Morning After" (from Poseidon) certainly was - and won!

The song was in the movie, at the party on the 135th floor. When they celebrate the opening of the Glass Tower. Just before the disaster began.
