I would hope most of us can be honest with ourselves and agree that Gibsons are overpriced. Gibson makes great stuff but if you don't care about name-brand you can get something of equal or better quality for hundreds less.

I still have my $300 Ibanez hollowbody and it's as good or better (for me) than any Gibson or Epiphone hollowbody. For reference I have 4 other guitars that are not cheap including an Epi les paul with new pickus with SD Triple Shots for coil tap and series/parallel.

I know I sound like a troll or someon who hates Gibson, I don't. They're great, but for me a nice epiphone (cause they can be real good or real bad you just have to try them out) with new pickups works better than a gibson in both feel and sound.

But I do have a soft spot.  If they come out with a neck-thru Firebird with 3 mini-buckers again, I'll swoon.

i dont see why you would want a jeff beck les paul

my father and i were walking around new york a couple days ago, both of us being fans of guitars and me being a player, we checked out all the little guitar shops. we came across a gibson, but smaller, about the size of a junior, with a silver pickup that almost slanted, but it looked like it had the body of a les paul. i'm not sure if it was a fake, or something discontinued, but it was very interesting. i was just hoping you could help me out on what it was, exactly.

depends on what you play

believe it or not big metal guitar companys are the ones making the money now adays due to the new metal trend spreading like a virus across our country (simile) haha. but yes i would agree for me and the style of music I play and for rock and roll Gibson is #1 (Thats right fender, i went there deal with it)
