Great video - I've visited Rosses Point many times and have looked over to Coney Island and wondered what it waslike to travel the causeway. Now I know!!
A friend and I decided to drive to Coney Island and back in our Ireland vacation a few years back. We chickened out around the third or fourth pillar, because we had no idea how shallow those seawater pools really were, when the next tide was due (or if it was already coming in, hence the pools) and how far we could drive off the pathway. Well, I as a Bavarian can do snow & mountain driving instead, so no harm taken.
No there's no proper road as the tide comes in and covers the pathe these people are driving. Directions- Take the Strandhill road from Sligo and about 3 miles from Sligo the is a small signpost where you turn right and follow the road all the way to the sand bank. Taking the drive would be completely tide related because more than 12 feet of sea water floods this channel at high tide.
