I wish Kemp had gotten someone else to play Pierrot (not Bowie, he's perfect where he is although there should be more of him). Kemp's horrid mouth behavior in this and part 2 may give me nightmares. xP
This is absolutely horrendous but Bowie was experimenting at (all) the time (Kate Bush was 12 and more likely at school). However it's an essential part of his life so I have to appreciate.
Sort of reminds me of the Russian ballet, "Petroushka" where the Clown/Pierrot doesn't get the love he desires from the Ballerina/Columbine, but the Black Moor ( or "The Incredible Orlando" in this case ) does.
Would be nice if you gave us the date of this performance,Dave. I take it this was not from your own "threepenny Pierrot" phase around '68 ?

the piano work sounds very similar to the stuff Garson played on Aladdin Sane !

More disturbing if you happen to be thinking of the Columbine Massacre as you are watching it.

Kemp taught Bowie and Kate Bush dance and they were in his company
Kemp also had a tempestuous relationship with Bowie
Kemp now lives in Italy, I believe

Yes, it is Lindsay Kemp. The black guy is The Incredible Orlando (who was blind).
