wow your free hand lines are terrible! im doin graphics as a subject and we have to free hand draw, if our lines are slightly out we pretty much fail. why do u draw so sqiggley, or are they just quick sketches?
How far can you get in Architect with an Associates degree? My plan is too get an architect Associates Degree and get into the working environment of an Architect and at the same time continue my education.
which path did you take? which one is the best path because i personally think its the first one, but i could be wrong. so which one is the most worthwhile path to take?
In Sweden the added result of your grades can be 20.0 points. Architecture "college" grades of acceptance are at the very same number, which shows that architecture is the sort of thing that people choose just to spend their grades to their full extent. Much like law school and medicine.
But said education has a thing called "the architecture test" where they evaluate the actual possibilities of becoming a successful architect. 1/3-1/2 of all places are reserved independently from the grades.
Personally, I like the system because it removes the people unfit for the sort of education from the schools, allowing creative people with passion to shine through, despite their inability to comprehend advanced German pluperfect inflexion and algebraic characterization of complex numbers.
okay so i already fucked up part one. i messed up high school but im still in sophomore. Literally my gpa right now is 2.0. is architect all college dependent. or if you have a really incredible skill for architecture can you attend an okay to bad college and still get a good job? excuse the profanity
I just finished my AA for Architectural Design and have decided to get my AS before going on to my Masters. There are a few ways to become an architect and it depends on what field you want to be in. In FLA, it most colleges only offer a hop from AA to a 2+3 Master's Degree. Then there is the licensing exam that takes on avg. 5yrs. to complete. You must also complete a 3-5yr intern I believe. Some colleges offer a bacholer degree, but here, you almost have to leave FL to find one.Best luck :)
Hi Doug. I'm Moroccan and I'm studying architecture. There are 2 archi schools in here. One in Rabat, which was built in 1980 and another one in my city, and that's 1 year old, . I got a high score in high school and I was accepted in all of them. But my parents didn't let me go to the school in Rabat so I stayed in my city and now I go to the new one. I'm worried because it has not a lot of "experience". What do you think? Help me please. Thanks a lot.
Fuck that shit Fuck school school sucks ass. college is just about gettin drunk and wasting time. wats the fukkin point of wasting money to do that when i could throw a party at my house and get my own crap without tuition. and still have the same skills i have if i had went to college. Just sayin. (i know not all places are like that)
@howtoarchitect Is it possible to become an architect with only a four year preprofessional degree in architecture. You don't say it is in your video, but I'm wondering if it is at all possible.
How important are your late high school grades if you want to be granted in an architecture degree in college? Like, what if someone's math average was something like 65%... would this person have a chance of being denied because of that?
Hello i really like your videos. I want to go into architecture as well but i don't know what schools have good architecture programs up here in Canada. Do you by any chance know any?
i want to be and architect someday but im only 11 but i aspired to be one sence i was 7 and i know how hard i must work sence im the class clown and get picked on alot but always make good grades so does your behavior have anything to do with the colloge you get into? please resond
@MrCCW316 no. I was the class clown too. Just make sure you don't let your own behavior get in the way of continuing to get good grades and listening to your parents.
@prettycoolwings Theres atleast 6 good schools in Canada with high reputations. Depending on what province you want to study in, you should look it up on google.
@MrCCW316 The fact, that you know your goal even NOW, means you are a cool person. Don't let anything stand in your way. I was also a class clown and dindn;t have many friends.Just follow your intuition and you will see, that in no time you will become a great person. You are already, because you know what you want, Many kids out there don;t have a clue. So keep getting good grades and train your imagination, be a little nerdy and hardworking and you will get wherever you want. Sorry, for my eng
hi. ahm. i was just searching about the works of "arch. Sabtiago Calatrava" thats when i saw your videos and i couldn't stop watching it the whole afternoon. i never thoguth that there videos about architecture here in youtube. I'm very thankful for you. I learned a lot and I will keep on learning. thou i may fail i'll keep on going. I just wish that I can be an architect someday.
hey dude... i like your vids... and im gonna be an architect someday but im doing computer science right now. Could you give me a list of the computer programs you use to do your work?... id really appreciate it... thanks man... you rock.
thanks for your videos!... this reminds me of how much fun architecture is and im not gona give up on being an architect even in the situation we face today!
Keep in mind, if you're not sure of your interest in architecture, transferring to another degree is typically much easier in a B. Sci or B. Arts architecture program than a five year M. Arch. I'm at a five year M. Arch, and friends of mine that have had to drop out of architecture essentially have to stay at school an extra year to catch up on credit hours.
what do u mean transfer over to an art architecture program is that like just drawing buildings or is it kind of different than architecture in any way?? Im a senior in high school and decided to go for either engineering or architecture and have taken classes in both areas. Please comment back
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. If you're in a Bachelors of Arts or Science program (4+2, you have to go to grad school after) vrs. a Bachelors/Master's of Architecture (5 year program, no need to go to grad school after) you have more leeway to transfer out your credits to another major if you decide not to do architecture.
I'm designing and building a small house for myself. I aim to make it affordable, attractive and extremely practical. However, most of what architecture teaches I find I can teach myself. Every carpenter I know never even went to college. I probably will not require college for this, as I see it as a hobby as opposed to a profession. I will perhaps consider it if I patent the design, but even then I do not see how college would be necessary, as I do not seek to be hired.
That might be true, but having an architecture degree myself I can tell the difference between a house that was designed by an architect and a person with builder's background. Not that there is anything wrong with that, and besides only a handful of rich people could afford an architect to built private houses. As long as you can manage the contruction process and people are buying your houses, that's all it matters in the end.
For those who can lucky enough to choose, don't be fooled and get yourself into this field, it's not as creative as people think, you spend a great deal of time in front of the computer drafting and doing endless changes after changes ...
and those who disagree just work for a couple years and you'll see what I mean.
David, you're painting it too rosy! if you're lucky, you're in front of the computer. Chances are though, you're down at the city learning about some arcane zoning ordinance that got your plan nixed. Your client thinks you should have known about it before you started designing, so they don't want to pay you for the aborted work. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen. Smile! It's all good! (Say that last bit w/ a Southern accent)
Oh yes, I got 'assigned' in my office cubicle, and I missed the other good parts about running around like a mad person and talking on the phone with people that shouldn't even be involved in the projects in the first place.
wow your free hand lines are terrible! im doin graphics as a subject and we have to free hand draw, if our lines are slightly out we pretty much fail. why do u draw so sqiggley, or are they just quick sketches?
