  • Beautiful and truly meaningful.

  • i see alot of 1121 2232 cont. in this vid

  • @silvr90210 If you mean the rhyme scheme, then the form is actually called the Rubaiyat stanza. Robert Lowell hated it. XJ Kennedy liked it.

  • Thank you for sharing this amazing work. It reminds me of "Sunday Morning" by Wallace Stevens.

  • Your voice fits the poetry, says Omar.

  • Many of the other pictures here are very nice but in my view, Dulac is by far the best illustrator of the Rubaiyat.

  • They're mostly photographs of Dulac from my 2nd edition.

  • Yes, I have that edition, too.

Some of the other things pictured struck me as probably not being Dulac, though I don't know for certain.

  • Yes - the Dulac ones are unmistakeable. The others are more of a daub.

  • Well, they're all beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  • @SpokenVerse Might I say sir, you have the perfect voice for poetry, I've only recently become acquainted with the works of Omar Khayyam and I must say, these verses are some of the most beautiful words that have ever been processed in my mind. Thank you, subscribed.

  • What a beautiful voice!

  • I love this

  • Nice one. You broght my youthful days in to my memory during which I read "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam".

I always rememeber by heart the bits

"A Book of verses underneath the Bough,

A jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread—and Thou

Beside me singing in the Wilderness—

    Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!

I suggest a low background music during your narration.

    Thanks for loading this.

    Regards

  • Very well done

  • Excellent once again. The pictures are a distraction though, the words and your voice is enough.

  • I'm sorry about that. The plates are from the old second edition I have. They were painted to illustrate the poem by Edmund Dulac. It seemed like a good idea.

  • 5 stars

  • I would also give it 5 stars

  • khayyam is a true legend and his poems sound wonderful everywhere and in any language...and I agree with largo64 too...u have a great voice, i enjoyed the video very much...thank u

  • *Very* well done! During a particularly difficult point in my life, decades ago, I memorized the first half of this poem, FitzGerald's version (which, for some reason seemed the best of the many translations). To have these beautiful lines running through one's mind throughout the day/evening, is, in a word, heavenly. Very nice images---thank you for posting!

  • Jazakallah

    Great poetry, great rendition

  • Beautifull. I agree with Largo 64, you have a grate voice. 5 stars.

  • Beautifully rendered! You have a wonderful voice. I don't know why ratings are disabled. I would give you five stars. More, if it were possible.

  • Thank you, positive feedback is always very heartening.

Ratings are off because very few people rate. They don't explain whether they're marking the poem, the reading or their own preference - or why. This way if people express an opinion, I can estimate what it's worth and respond.
