I enjoy the videos and Im sure I would enjoy the podcasts. I found the whole conversation interesting;

and yes if we could make all words cute and reduce the overall number of words...jesus could only hope to accomplish as much!

Although, I think we would tire of the cute words and they wouldn't be so cute any longer. Then we would switch back to the boring words to regain that sense of novelty... but hey if it gets us out of the house, right :-)

i think that the videos are the best form in which to display your ideas(every now and then a visual aid helps get the point across), however anything YOU like is what you should go with, you can never be successful if you dont love what you do. that's like rule number one right after "we do not talk about fightclub."

I much prefer doing videos, or radio shows back when I did them, with other people. I like to have at least some idea of who I'm talking to and I don't always have something to say so it's nice to sit back and admire my LOTR poster from time to time :-).

Trust me, I get boring when it's just me on my lonesome.

This is a fairly offensive statement really. Black and gay people don't choose their colour or sexual orientation, nor do those factors homogenise them philosophically to anywhere near the degree that buying into "nerd culture" does. I definitely admire your sentiment, but our arguments with nerds really don't apply to real, actual socially-maligned minorities.

I also agree with you that we're verging on dangerous social-engineering; then again, so do nerds.

I like to think I saw your point (that would be the "admiring the sentiment"), but the simple fact is I have had a lot of contact with self-proclaimed nerds and find their worldview inherently selfish, lazy and negative. Obviously this is a subjective ethical judgement, but that's where I'm coming from. I don't want to see more people adopt that worldview.

A nerd (as I understand them) lazily chooses to forsake growth as a social being, then expects everyone else to put up with them without saying, "excuse me, would you mind washing, talking like an adult, and taking an interest in the world outside your immediate surroundings?"

Even if you disagree with that very slanted definition, surely the simple fact of the choice that's being made renders comparison between nerds and actual persecuted minorities a somewhat weighted comparison.

There is however a pretty broad line between accepting that people find youth to be beautiful and advocating the recognition of pedophiles as a legitimate sexual orientation. Maybe you should try to put yourself in the position of someone receiving harassment from older men. I was in a similar (though not on as grand a scale) situation as Joe years ago and it is a creepy and uncomfortable situation to be in. Validating the pedo lifestyle is the last thing anyone cares about and rightfully so.
