  • @al5mnd9trnksdr745bi Ok, the union postal worker, lets say mail carriers, make about 50k - 60k a year, working six days a week, ten hours worth a work a day, but only get paid for nine hours, sometimes with no lunch, in all kind of weather and areas. Their bosses make 70k to 110k a year (plus 5 to 10k in bonuses), sits at a desk, answers the phone, imputs data in the computer and times/ watches the carriers work for special assignments. If there are atleast 2 bosses for every five workers...

  • The Post office is getting srcewed by the lame duck session of the govt. 2006. Look it up.

  • Ending SATURDAY delivery will be a major INCONVENIENCE to the general public. Most residents are home on this day to sign for mail and receive packages but INSTEAD they would receive a notice while they are work on Monday to DRIVE TO THE PO and pick up their mail during the week before closing time which means they may have to leave work early (and if they're hourly, they would be losing money to do this, D U H !) Change it to Wednesday if you have to select one day!

  • Media channels need to learn and share THE FACTS at "youtube dot com slash postTruth"

  • ANSWER A EMAIL WILL YOU GET YOUR PACKAGE THRU IT

  • In 2006 congress mandated the postal service to PRE-FUND 75 years' worth of future retiree health benefits within the following 10 years! USPS has paid them $5.5 BILLION dollars per year which accounts for 100 percent of the $20 BILLION in losses over the past four years! It also accounts for 100 percent of the rise i the Postal Service's debt in recent years. News stations are not reporting the story of course!

  • I would rather have the mailman deliver junk mail to me than to receive an email,,,, please help me on this type of reasoning

  • @al5mnd9trnksdr745bi the reason the labor cost is more with the Post Office is because they have to go door to door, while UPS and Fed Ex just deliver parcels. Both Fed Ex and UPS workers get paid more then USPS workers. You can't run USPS as a business, because a business would pick and choose who to deliver too. Take my home state of MI for example a business interested in profit would deliver to Lansing but avoid Detroit due to crime, and forget about the UP not enough people up there.

  • Sign of the times

  • @ETWFJ Please guide me to the sources that state that the USPS is not making money, because everything that I am finding is showing me Net Profits.

  • Letter Carriers start out at $21.66/hr these days - even the temporary ones that receive no benefits. An investigative report needs to be done on WHY the PO continues to lose so much money... the answer is MANAGEMENT/UNION relations.

  • The Federal Gov't should stop stealing from the USPS that would fix a lot.

More the USPS should stop subsidizing the large mailers at the expence of the single piece and the service itself.

  • Sell the whole USPS system to the postal employees for $1.00!! everything, every paper clip, vehicle,building...everything. They also assume all debts and liabilities.

Make it a 100% a private company...they could go public and have a stock offering if they themselves and their board of director elect to do so. NO US FUNDS OR SUPPORT No tax exempt status I say in 10 years no one will receive mail and where!

e-mail,E-fax,Video mail,Fedex,USPS and others will still be here

  • @Mrvegasmax777 Ok, you have NO idea what you are talking about. The postal service does not get money from funds or support or taxes. It is a self propelled/ contained unit, stuck with a Board of Governors hired by Bush Jr and screwed with old bullshit rules by Congress that keep it broke by paying out billions of prefunded retiree money. Making it a private company will rip the delivery industry in our country, kill jobs for millions of Americans and all but end paper based advertising.

  • There's something remarkably out of touch with this segment. So the post office is more important than education, law enforcement and defense? They don't get tax money now..but thanks to bailout culture someday they could

I'm sure someone like andy rooney was said when refrigerators were invented that it was sad to see no one carry ice to the door anymore

  • All the nasty comments about rude PO employees. Wow. The problem is the management of the US Postal Service at the top. I never knew that it wasn't taxpayer supported-so why are they being guaranteed pensions and benefits?? Start cutting pensions and put a 5 yr pay freeze on em. Social Security isn't getting increases why should a basically "private run" governement franchise get all the perks. I am gonna be pissed if they cut Saturday service-what a joke!

  • Lol... Old guy hates technology. Nothing to see here folks.

Although it is more fun to read something that you can hold in your hands. I should know.

  • let me translate this video "i'm old and i cant figure out this new-fangled email...and new things scare me..."

  • The problem is, the USPS forgot that they are only required to break even. . . . since when was they supposed to make a profit. But they average about 1 Billion a year. Now all of a sudden, that is not enough money to a semi-fed agency that is only required to break even.

  • @arnellwest You are wrong, the post office has not even broken even for years due to the Federal Gov't piggy banking to help fill in their massive deficit.

  • When I was deployed in Southwest Asia and I want to write a letter to my love ones. All I have to do is write on any piece of cardboard from my MREs and address it to my home. I don't need to put stamp on it and that letter will get to my family to let them know that I'm doing fine. I know that email is available but when you're out in the field and you just felt that you have to write how you feeling letter is still the best way to capture what you feeling write then and then. Because you neve

  • If America needs to cut anything and any one the Post Office and Any Rooney should be the first to go. I think they should close all Post Offices and fire all these Idiots –let's allocate the work to UPS, I’ll be the first one to pay $1 more for better service and smart effective employees, Most Postal workers are bunch of lazy , idiots. You have to be a damn loser to qualify for a post Office Job.

  • What century is this guy living.

  • The problem with the post office is that the clerks aren't allowed to be courteous and attentive to my needs. If the Postmasters would let the window clerks be the pleasant people that I know they are, I would be happy to continue to do business with them. Their forced sentence structure and long winded questioning annoys me every time I go to the post office anymore.

If I want to send something Express Mail, I will tell them! I don't need to be asked every time I go to the post office.

  • The problem with the Post Office. I believe it's the practice of blind leadership. Management doesn't question their superiors no matter how impractical their intentions are. If the idiot at the top says that things are to be done a certain way, then all the way down the line to the sales clerk who talks to the customers directly, has to follow instructions on how they should do their job. Window clerks should be allowed to practice sales skills that please and benefit the customers.

  • You go Rooney!

  • Privatize the Post Office. I get to choose my cable provider, why not my mail provider?

  • Postal employees are lazy, illiterate inbreds who think the word owes them a living. Why don't they cull the herd to save a few bucks?

  • TOXIC YOU ARE AN IDIOT

  • This guy needs to give up

  • Close all post offices they are a relic of the past. Also holidays are obsolete so banks should always be open everyday. I suppose the only battle their is with the unions. We have UPS and FedEX what possible need for a postal office is there? It has failed to reinvent itself. I never use stamps.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne

Search for: Going Postal Rain Man

  • The post office is now rent seeking against conservative orgainazations that oppose progressive politics. Liberal organizations pay half the postal rates over conservative mailing. Since USPS is a government monoply, they are directed according to the dictates of partisan politics which is aimed at elimanating competition by puting them out of business. Nothing like loosing our freedom of speach throught the post office.

  • Yes the post office is part of community organizing. I am sure homosexual groups want to send us all fliers about "tolerance". Really junk mail is all the post office is anymore.

  • he is awesome he thinks just like me!!! we have all of the same opinions

  • then your an idiot

  • @starwolf112 Thats you're an idiot. If you are going to call someone names, You had better get your spelling correct!

  • Well put old friend, if people still want that warm personal service all they have to ask.

I'm afraid some people still think they want or need "change" without really understanding what it really means.

  • Andy Rooney is a dinosaur!! Very true, the USPS needs to go.

  • Shut the USPS down, it's a dinosaur. It's not needed anymore.

  • Anything business with a union is obsolete it's not 1900 anymore.

  • Also, the USPS is the ONLY Gov't agency that is mandated by congress to PREFUND the ENTIRE employees retirement benfits within the next few years.

  • Comment removed

  • Fed Ex & UPS will never deliver that mail for $.44. Anywhere in America - door to door. That is value!

Without the PO to keep them somewhat in check, their rates would go even higher.

  • @77Bambi77

You can't call something that isn't sustainable a value. Should the taxpayer bail them out too?

  • @77Bambi77 ....who sends mail? Let it be $6.00 for a letter- I use emails and UPS.

  • Andy Rooney rocks!

  • Sorry BlueIndiana - I meant to give you a thumbs UP!!!

  • It's fine.
