  • What is the music playing?

  • "lightning never strikes the same place twice"... count about 5 in a row along the same path, when they're driving away at the end. :D

  • @slugfly That means the EXACT same spot where it hit, not the area.

  • the downstroke of lightning is fast, but the up/return stroke is next to the speed of light(286,282mps)..and lightning doesn't come from the ground in the context of it ORIGINATING from the ground. as the downstroke gets closer to the ground, 'receivers' reach out for a connection..but only as a result of the lightning stroke from the clouds.

  • lol

  • its light... its hardly to make it slower^^

  • not slow enoughhhh

  • Beautiful music and stunning video. I give it a thumbs up.

  • It sucks that slomo lighting looks just like regular lightning because it goes so fast

  • what is this music?

  • anyone know how powerful a lightning bolt is? and what happens when you actually get struck by one?

  • Lightning definately strikes twice in the same spot, take lightning rods on buildings they get struck many times. Lightning strikes in the first place because it is the path of least resistance and unless the resistance changes it is likely to strike again.

  • تصوير مميز استمر

  • awsome

  • wow the speed of light cant even beat the super slow camera.!

  • video proves that lightning DOES strike twice (or more) at the same spot....and its normal- proving the statement that lightning never strikes at the same spot twice... I counted Five!!!!

  • @kountryvaudeville its the same bolt, they are different strokes, but lightning can strike twice

  • top only top

  • Only put a one because there was no zero

  • I agree with thinking this video was fake, ONLY because of the motion tracking...it's very realistic, but around 0:19, some of the lightning moves slightly when the camera moves...that only happens when motion tracking was not done properly with special effects. Lightning is now one of the easiest things to fake with any decent effects program...

  • ... an if you take under the consideration camera's CCD and its properties of working - everything will be NOT so obvious..

  • I think it is fake

  • Hey, this is the Byrd Ave Verum Corpus! This is arguably the best piece of High Renaissance polyphony in existence. If you're a singer, drop everything and get a copy of this piece immediately, then find some friends and read through it. It's beautiful.

    Good footage, by the way.

  • Cool editing effect.

  • Does anyone besides me think that this is a fake?

  • Does anybody know what this music is? I love it.

  • Why the hell are people thumbing me down for this?

  • @DistressSignal because those people are afraid of Thunder....

  • lightning does indeed come out of the ground as well as from the sky. Do some research into the subject and a smaller fork of lightning comes from the ground upwards before a large fork descends from the cloud. There are a number of films showing this...

  • Comment removed

  • most people dont know this but lightning really comes out of the ground.

  • not always

  • Thats like the "leader" or something

  • ok then lol

  • watch SLOW MOTION lightning just Slow slower and slowest. and u'll see where the lightning comes from.

  • HAHA.

  • Comes from both ways and meets in the middle. Typically thats when you see that intense Burst of light. The "bolt" comes out of the sky. And the things with the best ground (trees, lighting rods) shoot out streamers. The object with the most potential becomes the winner and you see a lighting bolt. There is a specific picture that shows it really well. its of a house and streamers come off the house, tree and telephone pole.

There is also cloud to Cloud Lighting.

  • @Adawg4008 Actually, that varies. Lightning can go cloud to ground, ground to cloud or cloud to cloud, depending on how the clouds are charged.

  • @Adawg4008

Erhmmmm okey Im glad your not a teacher or anything like that.

Where did you pull this fact out !?

  • @Adawg4008

No it doesn't...An electrical charge is sent from the sky towards the ground (which is invisible to us), and then comes back up. The part when the lightning comes back up is the part we see.

I'm going to assume that's what you meant.

  • @KnightrogenFilms that is true thats why when you see lightning in really slow motion you can see that it comes from the sky then when it reaches the ground it comes back up

  • Comment removed

  • @Adawg4008 What do you mean by that, cuz I've always thought that lightning came out of clouds

  • @Adawg4008 Not always; sometimes from cloud to cloud. Lightning discharges may occur between areas of cloud without contacting the ground. When it occurs between two separate clouds it is known as inter-cloud lightning and when it occurs between areas of differing electric potential within a single cloud, it is known as intra-cloud lightning. Intra-cloud lightning is the most frequently occurring type

  • @Adawg4008 Wtf how, ? I never heard that before in my life

  • @Adawg4008 Not exactly, it can go from ground to cloud, however it also can go from cloud to ground, and cloud to cloud.

  • @Austin25254 its true i saw it on super slowmotion

  • @Adawg4008 Oh, but that's fucking wrong. Lightning can be from ground to cloud, cloud to ground or cloud to cloud and many more. Fucking do your research before you spout your pseudo facts.

  • Looked really fake, Seeing how many times the lightning hit that one place.

  • thats because electricity will follow the path of least resistance, which is where it struck before, plus the air where it struct before will be ionised and so conduct electricity easier than the none ionised air, this is why several bolts can look the same and strike the same place in succession

  • thas slow but its still hella fast

  • thats amazing.

  • Hey that's no fake!!

  • not photoshop. avid or premiere. its a simple effect that any moron can use. no special fx knowledge required.

  • It's important to note that you're not seeing "electricity" when you see a bolt of lightning, you're seeing the superheated air molecules becoming bright plasma along the path of the current. The image lasts a few fractions of a second while the charge travels in less than a millisecond. It's more comparable to an incandescent bulb being turned on and off (with the fading time as the filament cools) than an actual representation of the extremely low discharge time.

  • very interesting

  • It looks kinda funny n odd..

but idc.. i like seeing lightning

  • No, Mr Genius, he is correct, despite the reference to 'meat'

  • i believe a charge from the sky wants to get earthed. and a thing called a streamer comes out of the earth and meats up with the main charge and then the charge is earthed which is the lightning bolt we see. thats not totally right i know but we did it in class once and thatsthe most i can remember of it. o ye a streamer can come from your body doesnt have to be the ground as long as its a route to earth.

  • im backin up azin cuz its true that lightning does come from the ground

  • it isent comeing from the ground it it comeing from clouds to the fround it is trying to find the path of least resistence there forth going to the ground hahah i sounded smart

  • no not "maby", it does.

  • i call bullshit.

looks like something created using AVID.

  • if its speed of light we wont even be able to se it

  • lightning travels much slower than the speed of light

  • Hey, it's just what my father told me, cuz I was told it comes from the best conductor, and that can be the earth, I don't exactly believe it myself, but again, its what I've been told.

  • ur dad is partially right lightning can indeed go upwards but most of the times either goes to other clowds ore to the grownd

  • WOW SOME CLOUDS

  • My father actually tells me that lightning goes from the ground to the sky? Well if thats true then everything I know is basically upside down... am I right?

  • a good majority of lightning never reaches the ground... it goes from cloud to cloud. so think about it that way.

  • Hmm.... not true.

  • Before to say that this is fake, you must consider that lightnings are REALLY fast, even in slow motion ^^.

  • light travels faster than anything else in the world, its all about science

  • The speed of light travels 7,5 laps around the world in 1 second..!

  • Take a look at other videos of lightning in slow motion on YouTube where you can see ground contact. Then come back to this video. It's very obvious what's real and what's fake. Even in slow motion with lightning being as fast as it is you can clearly see ground contact in the videos when the camera is close enough.

  • lightning itself travels much slower than light

  • plus it looks a like jpeg slapped onto a video...

  • yep.. :S

  • ok a lot of people are saying this is fake, and i hae no idea, im not a camera expert. but tehre are actually storms like this? damm i wish england had lighting like this, that would be soo great :)

  • IT IS FAKE. Watch the bottom of the second strike at the beginning of the video. The bolt floats in front of the small bushes closest to the camera indicating it was edited in and doesn't even make ground contact at all. Also if it were real that bush would be exploded as the sap becomes super heated by the lightning hitting it and ground leader coming through it. The strikes are probably real but edited in from another source video.

  • You can also see that same floating effect in other strikes later in the video.

  • Dude, first research your facts. Lightning is caused when a cloud has negative charge. The positive charge of the Earth draws the electrons from the cloud to the ground, and the electrons pass through the bolt of lightning several times before disippating. This is what causes the lightning to look like it appears in the same place in slow-motion. So, before shitting over other people's work, make sure you know what you're talking about dick!

  • I think they ment the same shape, not the same place? Everyone knows lighning strikes wherever the hell it wants to. I'm not saying this vid is fake, but it is weird/interesting how a lot of the bolts are shaped the same.

  • fucking. fake

  • But still enough time to post crappy replies over the internet...

  • Hey, its fake.

I paused the image, and the only moment the defrost window show the lines is when is desapearing in the fade.

And you see how the roots stay still when the image shake...a real lightning (is light, and is far) have to move with the picture too.

And if you xan see theres no sound, the fakers cant make a soundtrack for that.

Watch the 2,000 ffps lightning video is more believable.

  • What is this beautiful music??!?!?? Please give name of choir and song!

  • You have to do it in Super slomotion mate, this is still to fast to really see a slo-motion.

  • at 0:07 - 0:08 looks so fake I laughed so hard LOL it actually makes me think the whole video might be faken, every body disagrees I know but you're just idiots that don't know what can be done with a few programs on your computer

  • I think you're right...This shit it's sooooooooo FAKE

  • 0:38, same lightning like 6 times.. its possible it can be fakeidk

  • The old adage of "Lightening never strikes twice" is a myth. What our eyes perceive as a single strike is actually multiple strikes along the same path. Each successive 'flash' is a separate region of electrostatic charge within the cloud discharging itself to ground along a common route.

So no, the video's not faked.

  • Man, catholic music has to be the creepiest music out there.

  • That was really beautiful, thanks

  • WHAT IS A DEFROG? is that like anti kermit or something!!!

  • Nature can be really beautiful...

  • fake?, look at 0.38, the ray is top of defrog of rear glass.

  • what?

  • the lighting is over glass of car, no is out the car, is in the car. i think in a fake.

  • cool music, any title?

  • its the sign of the Apocalypse!!!!!

  • cool

  • Most of the comments saying "fake" seem to be from people who dont understand: 1) how lighting actually works 2) how motion artefacts and other caused by bright lights/flashes etc can effect digital cameras.

"the lighting and background motion dont matchup", go and film a brigh light at a moderate distance with a cheap digital camera and you'll see why.

"i can see the ightning though the bush/window heater wires" Lightning is bright, bushes and window wires consist of thin lines/branches. Duh

  • GOD DAMN SON!!!! GREAT COMMENT!!!

  • TO FROSTY956

  • fake, look at 0.38, the ray is top of defrog of rear glass.

  • FAKE LAME FAKE!

  • it's not, and if you need proof, i'd eb happy t osupply it... im up to the task, and i think majoring in Physics helps...

  • SO FAKE

  • i wish it was slow enough to see the lighting bolt come down

  • not slow enough.

  • fake

  • wtf?! gesh pietjaa

  • That's pretty cool, considering the fact that lightning dosen't light up until after the bolt touches the surface.

  • angry god ;D

  • look, TTMFFD, we all know that you took random videos of lightning striking and slowed it down in Windows Movie Makers so please... do us all a favor and take this shit down.

  • OMG this is so fake I've seen lightning before and I've never heard singing.

  • hahahaha !!! LOL

  • SUPER LOL!!!

  • Quite a funny comment.

  • That's because when it's regular speed, it's so fast, it sounds like thunder. Once you slow it down however, you can hear the singing.

  • Ha Ha that sounds about right!!!

  • thanks!

  • i was wondering the same.. lemme know if u find out

  • FAKE

  • anyone who says this is fake has no idea how lightning strikes. and yes lighting strikes more than once in the same place, people think lightning is random but its actually very precise, it usually strikes where the electrons gather the most/closest to the protons. when lightning strikes first the energy goes down, then back up the same path, and then back down the same path. do your homework before you call something fake.

  • looks a bit fake man..

  • It is fake. after 36 sec when the camera is in the car the lightning is infront of the lines on the window.

  • that's because lightning is very bright, so the camera lens seems to show it that way.

    nice analogy though

  • pwn

  • fake. lightning never strikes the same spot twice

  • no thats a stupid myth, lightning is actually more likely to strike the same place twice.

  • lighting does strike the same place more than once.

  • Then what would be the purpose of a lightning rod, eh?

  • To harness the energy you dumbshit.

  • To draw the lightning to a certain place...

  • it isnt striking the same place twice

  • even in slow motion its still fast

    damn.

  • The music please? Is very good

  • while it's cool, yeah, it's fake. i'm surprised no one's mentioned the obvious: lightning doesn't just *appear*. it comes from somewhere, and snakes it's way down.

  • Yep. Or this is not actually slow motion... This is quite normal video and slowed a little bit. I wouldn't say slow motion. I would say slowed video. So maybe not enough quick camera?

  • fake!!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa fake fake fake

  • yes it is so fake, if you watch carefully, you can see the background moving but the lightining not matching the movement.

  • To all the fools that say "lightning can't strike the same spot twice"....

  • since when did lighting hit the same place twice and manage to look just like the last bolt

  • actually it does it most of the time. The highest number of recorded 're-strikes' in a single strike is 40.

  • not true

  • How Fake Noob!

  • Lightning does strike the same place more than one. I've been struck twice and still kicking, well kinda. Have some nerve damage in my legs, but nothing to slow me down.

  • Well, this is fake. You can tell, the screen moves dis-proportionite to the lightning a few times. And when it does it twice, the bolt looks exactly the same. While Eletrical currents are FAR to chaotic to EVER do the same exact bolt one after the other.

  • Fuck you.... this is real :DDDD

  • lightning is caused by the attraction of particles from the sky and the earth. with the earth's electromagneticism, the ground tends to have a larger negative charge, the atmosphere has a more positive charge because of a lot of free ion gas. lightning is the result of the attraction between the two. can go either way. typically though lightning travels from the ground up.

  • Someone's been hittin' the books.

  • war of the worlds at 00:30 lol!

  • ? Nothing is even happening at 30 seconds.

  • '' doesnt hit same place twince '' o really :D

  • Your all retarded. In simple terms, Lightning is a discharge from the clouds. Its travels downwards to earth. Go to school.

  • LMAO

  • yeah it can...

are you in like 3rd grade or something?
